hi, i’m outta the mlp loop so i dunno whats goin on.
but i wanna know if hasbro is finally ok with mlp fighting game, or are they still foolishly fighting the developers and trying to bar them from finishing the game?
i’ll never understand how hasbro isn’t jumping on this and seeing the tons of money they could be making from this.
if i was a hasbro ceo i’d be on this bandwagon. i’d be working with you guys to get the game on console/pc and tapping this unseen market of bronies.
Hasbro has stopped the developers from developing “My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic”. Mane6 has complied and stopped working on the MLP fighter, and has instead paired with Lauren Faust to create original characters, art assets and a new setting for what looks to be a brand new fighting game. Additionally, they have received support from Lab Zero Games in the form of the Skullgirls Engine to use toward developing the new game. In terms of where the new game will be compared to Fighting is Magic, everything’s still up in the air.
If you still insist on playing the MLP fighter, rumor has it that numerous fans out there (who are NOT affiliated with Mane6) are attempting to take the game underground and “finish” it. Some fans are more successful than others.
I’m surprised others are trying to polish the original game. I hope that doesn’t hurt Mane6 in the long run.
That’s something I’ve been kind of curious about for a while now. I’ve heard of at least one group that seems intent on using the original Fighting is Magic assets from the leak to ‘finish’ at least the initial six characters. Is this a concern since they are working with the same material that was targeted in the C&D, or is there some way that Mane6 can legally verify that they are not affiliated with the groups that are modifying their work?
EDIT: Herp, totally read your post wrong.
But yeah, the final product of fans would be with the older engine, and Mane6 would in no way want to take part in something like that now that they have a chance to make a real something of their hard work.
Fucking bronies
I need a pony avatar.
Hate to double post, but when the hell are they gonna announce those new cute fuckin’ characters, damnitt?!?!
again, i still don’t understand how hasbro has the power to stop someone in using their mlp trademarked characters when mane6’s mlp fighter was a non-profit project.
how does mane6 not have artistic freedom here?
again,…if elvis presley or marilyn monroe tried to legally bind andy warhol from using their personal image with a cease and desist court order…how would they be able to? how would andy warhol have his artistic liberty be bound? and andy warhol was making money off of the personal images of elvis and marilyn. not to mention all the campbell soup can paintings.
someone explain the difference between what andy warhol was doing and was Mane6 was doing.
coz i see no difference there.
There is no difference, but Presley and Monroe were individuals who only owed diligence to themselves (them being the only ones who gained anything from the profitability of their images). As artists, they respected what Warhol was doing, and waived their own due diligence because they saw the full intent of Warhol’s work.
Hasbro is a publicly traded corporation. The administrators of the business owe diligence not to themselves, but to the stockholders, and the stockholders are whatever shithead happens to own even a single share of the company, and they don’t give a single fuck about the statement that Mane6 is making with their work–they only care that their investment retains maximum profitability, and if the administrators can’t show due diligence in ensuring that, then its the administrators’ asses that get fired.
Incidentally, I haven’t really seen anything but positive reception of the idea of Fighting is Magic from any of the creatives involved in the central product. The issue is that publicly traded entertainment is the enslavement of art for fiduciary gain.
I hope they add a fox and a lamb
Is Bronies Fighting Ponies: The Magic Of Friendship the name of the game?
I hope this will release for consoles to this game looks great
