hahaha Ortiz is benched, Baldelli doesn’t hit, M’S WIN!
We didn’t blow a save for once! Still it took Ichiro going yard twice for us to win.
Cubs keep winning, despite their best efforts.
Why is Ichiro on the ballot for the home run derby?
raul ibanez for home run derby
Ichiro will own everyone in the Home Run Derby. He doesn’t hit them in games but god damn that man hit them in practice more then anyone I ever saw. I remember watching A-rod hit in practice then compare to Ichiro and I was amazed. If you ever go to a M’s game go to the game early and just watch him swing. like 90% HR’s.
Are you serious? You’re saying that in batting practice Ichiro just cuts loose and hits bombs? And that he’s good at it?
…shit, that’s crazy. I wouldn’t doubt it either, that’s the thing - he could easily be a 20+ home run guy if he was willing to take like a 30 point hit to his average.
Pujols too. He could probably hit 50+ no sweat, but he wouldn’t be hitting like .350 any more, and he would probably strike out a lot more than 60 times a year (which is INSANE by the way - in 2008, 104 walks to 54 strikeouts…that’s fucking dumb) if he adjusted his approach to just hit bombs.
Hmm, good news for Jays Fans in the GTA, Rogers finally picked up TSN2, making the Boston series available to us.

I dunno about anyone else, but I’m fucking nervous, since I consider the Red Soxs the litmus test on whether or not the Jays are for real this year.
Should have Cecil, Tallet, and Ray going in the series (not in the order I believe, too lazy to check now), so we shall see what our patchwork rotation is made of.
It’s a damn shame Adam Lind isn’t on the All-Star Ballot, hopefully he’ll be a manager’s choice.
Also, finally found the 09 Halladay Commercial:

It’s pretty good, my favourite is still the Hide and Seek one with Vernon Wells for the 06 Season.
Royals are slippin’. Greinke needs to share the juice with the rest of the clubhouse. I hope he doesn’t replace his agent with Scott Boras and end up pulling a Manny on the Royals…
Maddon fucks up the lineup card, meaning Sonnanstine has to hit. He gets me a hit, RBI, and a W.
Yet, that same fuckup caused Longoria to not start and come off the bench. Got a BB. Thanks, asshole.
Too bad Weeks is out for the year. Brewers just swept the cards. Hottest team in the NL and maybe all of baseball right now.
wes helms needs to work some westacular magic already so the marlins can win.
Were you being sarcastic here, or seriously surprised?
Ichiro has said he could easily average 30hr a year and everyone believes him because he can. He wouldn’t have the BA. he has now though or the crazy amount of hits.
Ichiro just has too many ways to hurt you when he makes it on base to try and swing for the fences. I’ve been to countless Mariners games and seen so many smart, prolonged at bats that ended with him taking a walk or knocking a little grounder to right field, then several minutes later he’s crossing home.
Lou Pinella style baseball + Ichiro = broken years in 2001 and 2002.
Yankees 8 wins in a row. That’s what the fuck I’m talking about. FINALLY
I’m seriously surprised that you can actually see him bomb it in batting practice - I know everyone says and thinks he can do it…but the fact that he actually can and does do it in batting practice…that’s surprising to me, if it’s true.
Jays lose two straight to the Sox and allow Ortiz’s first home run of the season! I think I’m going to set myself on fire! Go Jays!
I didn’t notice this until yesterday, but damn Willis got fat. He’s about CC size now.
Holy shit, Peavy’s getting traded to the White Sox?
EDIT: Allegedly for four pitching prospects, including Aaron Poreda, Chicago’s second best prospect (Gordon Beckham not included in the deal.)
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ge-peavy052109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Gotta wonder how this compares to the packages that the Cubs and Braves were putting together for him…although I suspect Cubs fans should be happy since they have no real glaring need in their rotation and this moves Peavy to the AL and away from the Braves/Brewers/etc.
Peavy’s moving from the NL to the AL, from a HUGE pitcher’s park in Petco to a great hitter’s park in US Cellular…it’s possible he might struggle. But the AL Central is such a shitty division anyway, it’s wide open for the Sox if their hitting gets back on track.
I think there’s a good chance Peavy will veto this deal.
