MLB (Baseball) 2009 (including fantasy leagues)

Haha, now that I think about it, I don’t think ive ever even seen Halladay talk to reporters or give an interview. Damn I wish he was pitching for my team. Wow looking it up I didn’t know he was only going to be 32 this month.

He does talk to reporters and what not, hell he actually came out and said A.J. Burnett wouldn’t do well in NY.

It’s just hes usually pretty serious. Only time I’ve seen him with a sense of humour is for ads with the Jays. He has a solid one this year, but I just can’t find it.

Get that drama out of here, Halladay said the exact opposite thing about Burnett, said he should do well in New York. He likes him, they’re buddies.

Or at least as much as a buddy that a fleshy pink skinned human can be to a cybernetic pitching robot.

I’m not thinking about playoffs at all - I keep waiting for the bottom to fall out for this Jays team. The hitting is INSANE. And not just the fact that they’re scoring…it’s the TIMING of the runs that are so crazy. Off the top of my head, we’ve only had like two or three blow-out losses all year…we’ve been right in there for every other game. Scares me.

It’s only a matter of time before the starting pitching falls off though…there’s just no way we can have four #5 pitchers going so often. Although I think Scott Richmond’s the real deal…like he is a quality #5 MLB pitcher for sure, not like he’s a stud or anything. Consistent guy, four quality pitches and a great slider…I think he’s better than Litsch.

The Royals are leading the AL Central right now too…so…who knows what the fuck’s going on in baseball right now?

Let’s go Brewers

13-0 for the doyers tonight? facing the lowly Nat’s :wonder:

Well that’s what I interpreted, maybe I was wrong.

As for the Jays, the hitting should be consistent considering that guys like Wells and Rios are still struggling somewhat, so when Lind and Hill potentially slump, hopefully Rios and Wells will be there to pick up the slack.

As for the pitching, you gotta remember that guys like Litsch and Romero are on the DL, and they should be coming back shortly. That along with the possible return of Janssen and possibly McGowan and Marcum (He’s supposedly making great progress) might allow the Jays to still have a solid rotation, allowing guys like Tallet to return to the Pen and strengthen that.

One question I have is, why the hell are they recalling Accardo? League doesn’t seem to have good control at the moment, and I think Accardo would be a better fit.

As for playoffs, hell no. Considering what happened in '01 (Great start, then fell off cliff), I won’t consider playoffs til Aug at the earliest.

League has 5 walks in 15+ innings…that’s not too bad.

Accardo in comparison as 5 walks in 12+ innings in AAA right now. I think it’s only a matter of time though because he’s still doing pretty well in Vegas regardless (1.42 ERA). When we have some starters return and spots open up in the bullpen, I think he’ll be at the top of the list.

McGowan and Marcum aren’t projected to come back until the end of the year…so it’s unlikely they’ll be able to help the Jays if they’re not in the race already by then. That’s assuming they come back healthy and in form too, which is a huge doubt.

I will NOT allow myself to be talked into delusions of grandeur for this season!

Now 2010, however…

League however doesn’t seem to pitch well in pressure situations, as seen by his performance vs. the Tribe on Monday. His 5.17 ERA doesn’t help a whole lot either.

Accardo I think should be called up considering that the PCL is a hitter’s league, and to have a 1.42 is quite nice, but it’s possible that either Cito or Arnsberg sees something in League and he may figure out his command like McGowan did in 07.

As for McGowan and Marcum, that’s what I was hoping for, with both of them able to come back by the end of the year in decent form, being able to spot-start a few games, getting ready for 2010, or possibly later on this season.

As for 2010, don’t start planning the route down Younge St. All of our top prospects (Cooper, J.P. Ari, Justin Jack, Mills etc) aren’t doing so hot, although it is really early.

The Fightins are in first.

Fuck those mets, I can’t wait to meet those Dodgers in the NLCS again. Those damn bastards.

If the Yankees don’t start playing like the Yankees, I’m going to start punching puppies in the balls

They totally are playing like the Yankees. Last year’s, that is.

Manny Ramirez suspended 50 games for failing a drug test.

The saddest thing about this is that I can’t even say I’m surprised anymore when this stuff happens.
