Dreadedfist: Mm very true. I do find myself to be very weak with values. Need to work more on creating depth in my works. Will take note of your pointers. Thanks!
**SMFC: ** Good point there. The ‘red device’ is actually a pack of Marlboros. Thought id add in so that there would be another point of interest, though i figure its true that the focal point is lost. Regarding the color of her suit, well its probably too late to do such a major correction now but ill definitely take your suggestions for future works. And thanks for the paintover! Also did i mention that i love your work! :lovin:
Nocturnal: Thanks!
Tokoyama: Thanks! Its actually inspired by artgerms piece. He has seen it too
DanSC: Thanks!
Rook: Id say the same for you. Your penciling is ace
MaybeMemories: Painter IX is a painting programme. One of the more widely used painting programmes, and supposedly favoured by most professionals. I dont think im competent enough to actually do tutorials, since i still have alot to learn. My techniques are largely based off what ive read up from walkthroughs by pros so i think you’re better off learning from them instead
Sniper wolf sketch for fanart challenge. To paint or not to paint? Cant quite decide whether i should give this sketch a shot.
only 16!!! That’s incredible! I wish I was as awesome at your age. Hell, I wish I was as good now
Loving the look of your pencils, kinda shaking and styley at the same time.
the only minor crit I can say is maybe work on the bridge of Sniper wolf’s nose, looks a tad dented. Maybe have the midtones work their way up to the forehead just to make it pop out rather than in.
General Tso: Thanks! Ill see what i can do with it
CptMunta: Ill rework it soon. Thanks alot for your kind words.
pc1x1: Its the usual approach to painting. Blocking in rough colors and then refining it to a nice polished sheen Well, I painted the different parts in grayscale first before laying on the colors in multiple layers of overlay. The mech being symmetrical, meant that i only needed to paint one half with the other being a mirror image. Of course i had to take lighting differences into account so this was done on another layer. After flattening the layers, i then moved the file to painter where i proceeded to smoothen out the brush strokes with a low opacity airbrush.
Not the most effective working method, but it works for me, especially since i alway have problems with colors (add that ontop of values and anatomy :X) Hope thats somewhat helpful.
Arr ive been somewhat lazy lately. Havent been sketching as much as id like to and my holidays almost at an end
Done sometime last week.
Bigger version and closeups at [here]
Finished this one last night. I wanted for a low angle shot, but a lack of reference and proper understanding of anatomy meant that there were many problems in actualizing it. Pretty problematic in terms of anatomy and lighting. Would appreciate paintovers or critiques :wasted:
Havent posted in a long while because schools started and ive been lacking the time to do anything much. Im looking forward to the new art challenge though
wow, you’ve levelled up since we last saw your stuff!
really, really nice stuff there… I like how you’re mixing design-esque elements into
your work. Inspiration by Artgerm?
any ref on those works? Or is it out of your head? Because your colour- and light- sense are gorgeous.
Fuckyea schools over for now. Looking forward to churning out some SF art again, especially one for SF4.
bill_rizer: Thanks. Try doing some random brush strokes and then applying gaussian blurs to specific parts before laying a texture over. Or you can try the halftone filter in Photoshop (Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone) , which is a fast way of making a piece of work look interesting. Hope that helps.

fistoftheryustar: **Hah thanks. I was just randomly rotating that picture when i thought id stick with that.
**ha-dou-ken: **Thanks
**rook: **Thanks! Yea Artgerm is a big inspiration for me at the moment. The aesthetic values of his work really appeal to me. That pic was based off a fast refless sketch i did, which i then posed out to get a photograph of (the only use of which being to see whether the pose itself was feasible) Lighting and stuff are pretty much bull-shitted so i didnt need ref for it
The only new work i managed to do in the past 2 months.
Master Chibi: Thanks. Umm if you think my art is of any monetary value then definitely, commissions are always more than welcome. Not too sure whether im in to doing non-personal work for free :X
