What in the name of god is up with the range on that sweep? LMAO.
I heard it was an early build bug
LOL. I laughed at that too. Hit him with the top cell of your foot and he still falls down. But they’ll probably fix it by launch time.
game is looking pretty fun so far.
So what does everyone think tourney standard for this game will be? Team Kombat or one v. one? I was thinking of starting a poll asking people what they would prefer happen for a potential tourney scene. Of course no one knows if one mode will be more fun then the other, or if team mode will produce some broken combinations that will make one v. one better overall (some assist already clearly look better than others) but I still wanted to guage general interest in both modes as potential tourney standards. Early discussion may help determine where we should start as a community…
Thought it might be too much just to start a new thread so asking here first if people might want to see that. Of course anyone else can really start the thing so it’s no big deal.
Well…at least it confirms 2D hitboxes.
There’s lots of hitboxes in the PAX build that are messed up. Sub’s jab, for instance, hits from a ridiculous range.
Nightwolf fat.

About the sweep, I paused the video on the frame Scorpion’s foot was closest to hitting Subzero’s. Turns out their feet are only 4-6 pixels apart, if not less (since the very tip of Scorpion’s foot was covered by the sand, I can’t tell for sure). So, I don’t think the hitbox is out of whack. It’s just that stage makes it seemed that way. Also, these characters always have one leg well in front of them it seems. That might make footsies/spacing relatively important, IDK.
But anyway, anyone notice that in that same video, Sub-Zero changes stances? That mechanic in the game too? Do normals still do chip?
To answer BL Pancho’s question, I’m a 1v1 type of person. Can’t speak for the rest of community though.
EDIT: I heard in one of the vids, that specials that used to be FF or BB in previous games are now fireball motions, i.e. down to back or down to foward. DEAL. DOUBLE EDIT: I was mistaken, not all of them were changed, some of them were though. DEAL.
Scorpions sweep is godlike , it probably goes under Sub-Zero’s freeze as well . Excellent footsie play right there .
I’m hoping that it does use 2D hit-boxes and that trading hits are possible ( Unlike UMK3 were it was random who had higher priority , not that fair imo )
yea i think they change the motion because of the new dash and since there is no run button.
im liking what i am seeing, i mean the animations seem stiff. still they are not stiff as the old mortal kombat. course im no expert in the mortal kombat games, so there not much view i can give.
Hopefully the standard is tag, The game could have massive potential if people dont jump on “balance” is mortal kombat for goodness sakes.
I swear I saw a feint ice ball by Sub-Zero in one of the videos.
I believe it was in the ‘Snake Eater versus Greg’ video.
Interesting stuff.
I guess you could call it a feint or use it as one, but it actually hits close range.
Sorry to double post but I didn’t see this vid and there’s some seriously great gameplay in it:

They changed all the moves to be fb, half-circle, etc?
Kinda lame, as the “weird” controls were another thing (like the block button) that made it unique. Same for the run button. Somehow the whole thing reeks of Boon trying to make it more like SF4 (every interview he mentions SF4 and talks about trying to make it more tourney-worthy). UMK3 was already a solid competitive game…
Unless they PLAN on changing it then no
There’s a video that shows Kitana’s move lists and some of her moves were still back-back or forward-forward
