do u guys have casual games in sauga planned?
None thats held regularly and/or open to outsiders. As far as I know, sauga casuals always take place in someone’s house and if you’re not in that someone’s circle (or at least know someone in that circle), you’re outta luck.
When we had casuals at my place a few weeks back, I offered a few spots to srk, and although some expressed interest, only one dude bothered contacting me. He floored us at MvC3 (first week it was out) but we were holding our own on SF4 , although I think he was going easy on us, hahaha.
I’m sure there are others that are less open to the idea of letting strangers in to their homes.
Most of the guys who meet up in Sauga are people who know each other by going to tournaments etc. It’s not really a closed clique - but if you don’t post on SRK, don’t come into the chatroom, or dont come out to events, we don’t know you exist lol.

Exactly. Some people don’t have the means, time, or interest to actively attend casuals, tourneys, and events especially when the majority of the venues are not in the immediate vicinity. And not everyone is a social butterfly, so I imagine some people might be intimidated by other well-known members of the community (even though most of them are pretty chill). I know I was when I played casuals with the likes of JS Master, Mr.Trite, Rebelo, etc. So then the next time you meet scene-people, you get to introduce yourself all over again!
So to increase that comfort zone, newbies (new blood) rely on casual venues to get their foot in the door, metaphorically speaking. It’s a convenient place to see “regulars” in the community. That’s great if you’re in Markham (Heroes World) or Scarborough (TOSF:HQ), but if you’re in Sauga, you’re out of luck unless you have the means (or motivation!) to go down to these venues, as evident by all the “can I hitch a ride to HQ” posts.
tl;dr I wish Sauga had its own venue for regular casuals.
P.S. We’re holding casuals tomorrow and on April. I’ll ask the host if its okay to invite a few people from SRK like last time.
P.P.S. There was an article on SRK’s front page a while back talking about how they started their fighting-game community from scratch, starting from holding basement casuals, all the way to holding their first major tournament. It’s a good read for those interested.
I might just head to HQ by transit, assuming its still the same schedule as before, and starts at 5pm.
also, I’m not a great player, but i do love the fight gatherings fun.

The entire point of HQ is that it’s to encourage new players to come play good competition, no matter their skill. There’s new faces there everytime I go.
we had to cancel tomorrow’s casuals since most of our regulars arent available. im suggesting the host invite randoms from srk (i cant host yet since we’re getting renovations and the house is a mess) instead since we need more practice for the tourney at heroes world on the 16th .
but speaking with regards to desi’s point, people at hq are very friendly regardless if you’re new or not and i encourage everyone to come down if and when they have the chance. as soon as the school year is over, i’ll be dropping by more often since i don’t have to get home as early to keep our dog company.
If there’s casuals on fri I’ll be able to drop by for a bit. I might go to HQ on sat as well.
If there is a casual on fri id be down cus Marvel online is getting a bit too frustrating lol.
