lmao james.
Yea it can be a dangerous job thats for damn sure. You have to have a lot of requirements to be a fire fighter too. I was just looking into it.
On average they only get about 2 fires a month that they attend, and 90% of them are small and typically nobody is hurt or dead for that matter. They basicly sit around and play cards most of the day and 90% of their job is actually getting to emergency medical calls before the ambulance does doing first aid and CPR if thats the case.
I dunno… basicly you gotta be in good shape and have the requirements to do all the first aid and CPR stuff. I just signed up to go to this fire fighter information show that they got going on the 27th of the month. If I like what I see or hear, I’m gonna go through the training that you have to take (through york uni) and get in shape. Even if I change my mind after the fact, its all good lol. Once I do that and if I still want to get into this kinda career I’m going to take the first aid and CPR courses that I need to take and apply i think.
I dont cringe at the sight of dead animals I clearly can handle that. The only thing about this that I’m worried about, is pulling half dead or completely fucked up people out of car accidents or stuff like that. I personally think I can handle it. I mean clearly it will be gross and shit and fucked up to do, but I think the fact that u save people would bend the scale a little more and it would make me feel a lot better about it. I cant really say if I would be able to handle seeing that stuff of not because I havent seen it.
I looked at how much they make though, and what benefits they get and its so great. Basicly if I work there for 30 years, I would get retired right away, by that time be getting paid almost 150g a year and once im retired it stays at the same wage till your dead. You also get insane insurance for family members and I think thats something I really want as well. I’d hate to run my own business, fail and have my family go to shit cuz I couldnt cut it and make enough money.
Being a fire fighter to me is a great oportunity if I can handle it, and it holds a secure and well funded future. Not to mention, making tons of money doesnt come from working your ass off in most situations. It comes from real estate and other financial investments.
Fire fighters work 4 days, then get 4 days off. Typical 8 hours shifts and that would leave me with enough time to work on maybe a small business of my own that I like doing to keep me busy and make some extra money on the side.
There are just so many pros to the career choice and not that many cons. I kinda always wanted to be a cop too, but they are looked down on by so many people and that job is way more dangerous. I dont think I could live with myself trying to save people and risking my life to have piece of shit kids look down on me every single day. Not when you risk that much…
