So with the money matches laid down for the Christmas tournament, I’m officially out of retirment and back into training. I spent yesterday working on new stuff and figured today was as good as any to put a few of them into motion. I picked up Anant and we were off to Skybox. I was worried when I saw like 3 people there but the place filled up fast.

Noodleman calls. He wants into the CvS2 tournament and because we haven’t actually finished the first round of winners, we’re obligated to slot him in. Gerjay re-arranges the entire bracket just to fit in Jason in 2nd rank. OK now we’re good to go.
MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2
Vs Lord Magnus (1st Round)
He uses MSP to start and that goes nowhere in a hurry. I lock him down with Cable and this wasn’t even much of a match. Second game he switches to Rowtron. I have big issues with Cable and it showed here as I got smacked out badly by AHVB’s. So the third match Nathan stands by me and coaches. Everything he said worked like a charm as I run through Adil pretty quick.
Vs Gerjay (2nd Round)
The first match I was raped by Magneto. I forfeit the second match, I’m just not at a level where I’m competitive with him yet.
Vs Arch Nemesis (2nd Round - Losers Bracket)
Ryan uses Cable/Sentinel/Tronne, which is an odd team because he doesn’t rush, thus making Tronne not nearly as effect (I’m right aren’t I?). Anyway, I shred him the first match with Cable. Second game was the opposite as he switches to Team Scrub and I get destroyed by Cable/Caocom. Third match once again Nathan comes to my rescue with teh coaching. Outside of one really bad mistake rowing in Capcom, I played the match very well, locked him down and took it without worry.
Vs Cito (3rd Round - Losers Bracket)
I’ve played Ivan a lot over the last few weeks. He’s better than me but not by such a margin that I didn’t think I could take this set if I played well. Both matches were tight but I just couldn’t get my guys in sync. I listened to Nathan in the first game whe he told me to switch in Storm when I knew my Cable was holding it down and it all fell apart. Second game I keep Cable in there as long as possible, bring down tons of pain and then blew it with the timer running out and getting hit by Sentinel stomp with no time left. GG’s, I always like playing Cito.
CAPCOM VS SNK 2
Vs Anant (2nd Round)
Everyone got a bye except for two matches. Anant beat Yuhin in the previous game, much to my delight considering I’ve been having my way with Anant lately. Of course I’m shocked when he makes me his bitch with Ryu and I’ve got to overhaul my game just to get back into the match. Guile keeps me in it and then Vega takes him down without too much trouble. I was worried though, I only had like 1/2 life left and that’s nothing against a Raged Blanka.
Vs Karan (3rd Round)
I called this Divine Intervention. Karan pulled the upset over Gerjay in the previous round, essentially handing me an entry into Winners Finals. I played Karan earlier in the day and fucked around too much, losing with my top team. This time around I kept him pinned down in the corner with Kim the whole way. I came within an eyelash of the OCV but my Crescent Kick didn’t come out and I got hit. Ah well… quick and painless.
Vs Jiggabry (Winners Finals)
I wish I taped this set. I told Bryan at the start of the day that we’d see each other in WF and here we were. Great set in both games. First game I played great defense with Vega and took out his Cammy and about 90% of Sagat. Bryan makes the big comeback, destroying my Guile almost perfect and then narrowly beating out Kim. Second game was back and forth the whole way. Bryan was leading with time running down (we really need to fix that damned clock), I made what I thought was a game winning hit with Kim only to see that it was a draw game. Tourney rules state that a tie is considered a win so Bryan took it down.
Vs Alex (Losers Finals)
OK so Alex got fucking lucky vs Noodleman (what a disgrace of a match) and beat Gerjay so I’m a bit worried. The first game he puts R2 Chun first, completely cirppling my team as Chun smokes Kim badly and I didn’t play the Guile matchup right. I couldn’t get caught up in time and I’m down pretty fast. Second game I knew what I had to do, I put Guile first knowing he’s stuck with Chun Li first and DESTROY HIM! I’m talking maybe taking one hit from a j.lk the whole round. I take his Bison to almost nothing and Kim cleans up. Third game he switches out Blanka for Eagle, which is just fine by me when I have Vega in the back. I smack out his Chun Li near perfect again, beat down Bison and then picked away at Eagle for the win. COUNTER THAT SHIT SON!
Vs Bryan (Grand Finals - 1st Set)
Again, why I didn’t tape this stuff I’ll never know. This was basically a war the entire way through. Bryan takes the first game with a Blanka OCC. I barely take the second game. Third game I switch order to Guile as an anchor (something I haven’t done in about 2 years) and it pays off in spades as I take game 3. Game 4 I blow a crucial chance at a super. Game 5 was back and forth but ever faithful Roll Flash Kick Super gets it done.
Vs Bryan (Grand Finals - Final Match)
So we’re out of time and need to figure out how we’re going to finish. We agree on single match so they can attempt to finish Marvel on time. I run the same order as the previous set and nearly regret it. Bryan’s Sagat just destroys Vega and Kim. I just barely took his Sagat with Kim and then he gets smacked by Blanka (who Bryan put in the middle by accident). So it’s R2 Guile vs R2 Blanka and R1 Cammy. I never though I’d see the day but I perfect Blanka with Guile. Not a hit on me and now I’m in great shape. Amazingly Bryan still puts me to the test and keeps JD’ing my shit and pressuring. He actually had me at one point when he hit the C.MK but no super came out. I use Hurricane to chip purposely so I can drain time and take life without giving back meter and keep away for 10 seconds for the win and my first tournament.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Like I said in the results thread, Anant was a true joy to watch today.
Jason gets ranked 2nd over me and then gets peaced out. :tdown:

Wow Tourney today was pretty sick…I can say I did pretty good better than what I orignally thought…Too bad I didn’t beat Nagata:sad: At least I beat each person I faced atleast once. Anant today was like top tier and made me belive that anything is possible… GG to everyone…Props to Adil for the Tourney

Well today i guess was pretty good, except for the fact that i did’nt get to money match sanford or curt.
The bad thing today was i keept losing money, i lost to gerjay in initial d and then got back at him in marvel(the initial d game was for money but the marvel one wasnt), so i guess its allright.
The funniest was when all i see is poeta telling some guy that he is gona break his face.
Good times ppl, we should run this more, i was thinking of having it every week, but then bry would be rich.
Adil and I were talkin and we came to the conclusion that we’ll be hosting tourneys every few weeks (unless someone else wants to get in on the hosting). With that said…I was thinking of hosting the next one in 2 weeks (October,29th) or sooner depending on how free you guys are…Hopefully we could get more ppl to come to this one seeing how there were a few that were MIA…
