Yup they sure did! I have two infractions avatar violation but it doesnt matter cuz another troll will spawn once this one banned. So I’m back on my “I hate my character choices” grind and I have a question about makoto. Are Hayate cancels vital to her high level play? And if so how vital? Like, abels step kick level of necessary? Or more like viper’s crazy flashy cancels that no one has to do but they’re cool?

Crazy flash cancels are necessary for Viper’s highest damaging combos. Hayate cancels can also add damage to combos for Makoto, but nobody does them for some reason. There might better combos to do. Either way, instant air axe kicks are more important to her game than the hayate cancels are.

She does have huge damage potential. She can hit hard without meter, but it gets crazy in the corner when you do have meter. Definitely a momentum based character who might have trouble getting in. If you don’t like Gief, you probably won’ like her either. Just use Ryu. All the tools, no excuses.

Speaking from experience, there is only one combo with Makoto worth doing a hayate cancel. It’s st. hp xx hayate cancel, st. mp xx lp/mp/ex hayate. It only adds 30 or 40 more damage and has a tight timing, so it’s not really worth it. You should really only use hayate cancels to maintain pressure and add grab mix-ups. FYI it isn’t hard. When you do a hayate, just hit a kick button the same time you hit the punch button. Just make sure you don’t do both mediums, otherwise you’ll get a focus attack.

Placing high is important to get some attention, but going to tournaments outside of your own community and networking is important too. That way, when MN throws a big tourney, people will be more inclined to come play against us. No one will want to come to MN if they’ve never met you and don’t know if the tourney will be worth the drive. That’s why there’s only ever 3-5 people from the Milwaukee/Chicago area that ever come to play.

I’m planning on taking a Megabus to the cities sometime soon. Do you have any tourneys coming up in the next few months? Not sure if I’ll be there on a weekend tho. My gf works 3rd shift and I have to watch the kids while she works. If nothing else I could always come to a weekday gathering or something.

There’s a tournament coming up friday January 20th at 5pm at games n go rosedale for AE. Other than that, I’m not sure of anything in the next few months. There are weekday sessions every week, tuesday in roseville and Wednesday in Brooklyn park. There’s also usually stuff going on during the weekend at people’s houses

Yeah that’s kind of what I thought. Trying not to get it in my head that it’s beyond me, like when I started playing Zangief and thought because I couldn’t do a walk forward ultra like vangief that I wouldn’t be able to play him effectively.

I’m wondering how to confirm into hayates too, other than after a command grab. Still trying to land the big death corner combo when I have opportunity but unless I get a lucky grab it doesn’t happen very much

Buffer hayate when you throw out cr. mp. Also, the best makoto combos start with cr. jab, st. jab, cr. short or cr. jab, st. jap, st. mp.
