thanks Gene for a well run tournament like always.
I have a question about the Asus monitors, i think it’s just me, but how are you guys (veterans and newbies) adjust to these monitors? Personally for me, it felt like they are a bit slower than what i’m used to, it feels like I’m playing on some slight lag on my Sony t.v. I think that i’m gonna have to go out and buy one of these Asus monitors so I can practice on them.
how about show up and play/watch instead of demanding results not six hours after it ended.
Yours? Glad to know that I’m not the only one with rusty screws.
I was hoping to get some plexi and/or art for my TE stick this summer. I have the Blazblue 360 stick, and I kinda like the art, but having something custom would be kickass.
Maybe I’ll just get some mirror plexi sometime.[/COLOR]
I’m not too familiar with Tekken characters besides the mainstays, but I would like to see Paul, Eddy Gordo, Jin (Jun instead?), and Raven (Tekken’s counterpart to SF’s Guy?). For the SF side, definitely Balrog, Makoto, Yang (he doesn’t get as much love as Yun), Juri (good counterpart for Hwarong), Elena (counterpart for that Native American Tekken character), Sean, and Batsu Ichimonji from Rival Schools.

Not sure yet but about to find out. Just ordered one in a sleep deprived impulse buy :-/ Honestly though doesn’t feel any different than my current monitor, haven’t noticed any adjustment like when I play on some big hd tvs and feel like everything is underwater
It feels slow to you compared to what? CRT?
Impossible. He was supposed to be getting me some Cambodian breast milk for my sugar cookie!

If I had my way, I’d never work. I’d just stay home all day, watch Scarface 50 times, eat a turkey sandwich, and have sex all fucking day. Then I’d dress up like a clown, and surprise kids at schools. Then I’d take a dump in the back of a movie theater, and just wait until somebody sat in it. Hear it squish. That’s funny to me. Then I’d paint, and read, and play violin. I’d climb the mountains, and sing the songs that I like to sing. But I don’t got that kinda time.
That’s funny since I’m actually Cambodian. LOL
the third monitor was a bit laggy but that was it.

Yeah that was actually something was going to ask about. I play on a big flat screen tv, so I’m sure there is some lag. Is it really worth it to practice on an asus monitor? I haven’t had any trouble with it, but I figured I’d ask.
It doesn’t matter if it is an Asus monitor or not. Look at the specs, it’ll tell you the response times on it.

Response time is the amount of time a pixel in an LCD monitor takes to go from one value to another and back again. It affects ghosting but it’s different from input delay. Input delay is much harder to measure and isn’t listed on any specifications for displays. You need to output video to a CRT screen and LCD at the same time and use a high shutter speed camera to accurately asses input delay, and unfortunately few monitors have been reliably tested. It’s more of a “this doesn’t feel bad to me so I say it’s ok” area of gaming. Also different inherent reaction times and whether a player is in an anticipatory or reactionary capacity effect whether someone will be more or less affected by input delay in a display system.
copied from HDTV Lag FAQ: "1 frame is approximately 17 milliseconds.
Ideal (unnoticeable) delay for fighting or rhythm games is 8 milliseconds or less, or 1/2 of a frame.
Acceptable (playable) delay is 9 to 34 milliseconds, or 1/2 of a frame to 2 frames. Note that while gameplay will still be affected by a delay of 2 frames, most people will still have a difficult time noticing the difference immediately.
Unacceptable (unplayable) delay is over 34 milliseconds, or anything higher than 2 frames. Typically, this is a point when timing-sensitive gamers will even feel a delay at the menu screen or with the cursor when selecting a character."
If you’re talking about a very VERY sensitive individual they might be able to detect less than 20-30ms of lag, but with others it may still change the feel of the game without being overtly recognized.
The asus VH236H has tested at approximately 1/2 frame of input delay. There are certainly monitors out there that are comparable, but it’s the most widely used.
Its also important to note whether the input delay or latency figures are recorded as solid numbers or averages. If I recall correctly the Asus is an averaged set, thus being less than a 1/2 frame most of the time with a few spikes here and there.
If anybody talks to Izzy today I need to get a hold of him.
I enjoy sugar cookies, fo’ real-

Any MN guys still have interest in MK? Just curious, the GnG tourny was fun.
We certainly do. I think we had 8 players just at my last house gathering a week or two ago.
I don’t agree with the 3/5. Sure there are more games for player but think about the time frame. Keep it 2/3 and 3/5 for finals.
