Whoa what got jacked? Fuckin thieves

Sounds good. I’ll still show up and play casuals either way. Get hype! Milwaukee tournaments!

Anybody caught stealing at a Milwaukee tourney will get a PHD. That’s pumpkin head deluxe for those not in the know.
EDIT: Was listening to Ghostface… I present Winter Wars!!!

4 today brajes

I’m thinking I’ll make it to the Romines event on the 2nd. Will be my first tournament. Anyone able to help me out replacing the chord that plugs into the system on two sticks I have? A cat got at them and chewed through them… I am completely incapable of doing this. I will pay you as well.

If you bring the goods I’m sure someone will be able to help you out a bit. Hype to see some guy I don’t know pop his tournament cherry.

You guys see that Evo lineup?

I’m sure there will be plenty of blood to go around after my cherry has been popped. Aka 2-0’d twice.

I can do this. I’ll message you.

Thanks!

Breakaway Cables right? They’re cheap, though I think you can only get em online. Potentially very wrong.

I’m going, bringing a friend of mine, gettin’ all sorts of Marvelly

so I snuck my way into an xbl party full of really high level AE players earlier today and basically they said if you jump blatantly into someone more than 3 times in a single round, then your not that good in AE. the only jumps that should really be made are jumps that you know cant be anti aired easily ( crossups, short dive kicks, neutral jumps.) Makes perfect sense to me, especially being a sagat player and all lol. Random demon flips and really high dive kicks also count as blatant jump ins. They also said that most low level players are very likely to look for their first source of damage via jump in since thats the easiest source for high damage. just wanted to let you guys know that mental technology.

Also, never waste an fadc on a block string. too much meter for dmg thats not guaranteed. Thats just a pet peeve of mine that I noticed a lot of players do.
Lastly, playing tekken properly gives you better reactions in AE.

at apex. street fighter starts today. show time!

The jump thing is pretty much common knowledge in any SF game, isn’t it? Also, unless you changed your playstyle a bit, I know you FADC in blockstrings, because with random DPs in there and safe guesses at an ultra, why not try for easy profit in a game where you are punished for doing almost anything that isn’t a DP FADC? If it lands you can say it’s psychic, or something.

This only applies to characters with fireballs, 3frame dp, or grapplers. Most charge characters require jump ins to do damage cus their move sets can be punished on the ground. Rog cant win strictly by doing block damage against a turtle players. Ibuki is all about jumpins for damage.

naah I lose a lot to bison if he stays grounded. since he has a dash that’s fast and a good focus attack and normals faster than sagats. if bison has one meter and stays outside of sagats normal range I cant really do shit unless I wanna eat an EX scissor or slide. With rog it makes more sense to jump earlier in the round but still why even jump so much if your risking 120 dmg off a trade plus ultra or getting pushed back fullscreen? you hit me a lot more consistently when your looking for that range to stuff normals/fbs with sweep or st.hk.

blanka doesnt do that good of dmg from a jumpin combo (maybe 250 at the most?? idk) but he can obviously make up for that with mixup dmg and annoying normals.

I can see honda jumping in more because hes less mobile, high health, and his jumping normals have a lot of priority for some reason. and his damage is goood, especially for the low work he has to put in for it. even then if your getting ur shit DPd after the 2nd time, you better start looking for that st.hk and more solid damage.

And Jerry thats not what i meant by fadcing during a block string, thats just a try at a DP that i can make safe. Lets say im playing a ryu player and blocking a cr.mp, cr.mk x fireball blockstring, a lot of people like to fadc that fireball into another block string for some reason when they could do the better option like save those meters for easier profit like you said.

also ibuki is about safe jump in damage, she still isnt supposed to be blatantly jumping in with her low health. her normals (st.lp, st.mk, slide, toward lk) are so good and she just needs to look for that qcf+K move that leaves an untech knockdown to start her mixup game or any knockdown really.

I know if Honda is playing a character that can punish jab headbutts he’s gonna be jumping once in a while, or he’s just going to be in the corner. Is there anyone with a fireball that can also punish jab headbutts? They’ll have him jumping all day.

He also has that funny neutral jump fierce that allows you to move on the way down, but that doesn’t really count as “jumping” in the sense that you’re talking about. When I played honda i did that all day at range against shotos

I’ve been trying to condition myself to jump less. AE is definitely the one SF game where you get blown up from it. It’s a bad habit to break especially if you played a lot of ST with most of your big damage combos requiring a jump in or cross up since on the ground with no super your only option is to end a combo is with a special or normal. Ahhh the good old days when EX moves did not exist lol. I really need to get better in the Sagat matchup. I’m just now incorporating focus into my game. I never really used it before at all. Devin, how are you eating slides from Bison? It’s his worst normal next to cr fierce unless you burn 2 meter to make it safe which seems like a waste to me. That’s 2 random psycho crushers I’d rather keep hahaha.

well matt you know you can’t jump really in ST aside from off a knockdown. the only game you can get away with it to an extent is 3S (maybe some of alpha series due to ground to air unblockables), and even that is dicey if your opponent isn’t retarded. As much as I love character loyalty, i really think that in AE due to the engine you should play the characters with 3 frame reversals and the most ultra setups to get anywhere. yeah I know adon can win a tournament, and momochi’s cody is sick sure, but as much as people say the game is balanced (and it might be in terms of character roster), the engine itself is going to favor the characters with the aforementioned tools the most. People are putting a lot of time into the idea of frame traps in this game when all of them lose to 3 frame dp fadc, which just seems totally worth it to me. Now that Ryu has his cr. mk back, I don’t really see a reason not to pick him. Maybe you can shed some light on this matt because I will admit despite my opinions I don’t know quite enough about the game but he seems to have the best tools for most matchups although I am sure you main Bison now for a reason. And the stuff I am seeing on certain unblockable setups and options selects are pretty sweet but are pretty situationally dependent so not quite guaranteed. I guess I would love to see Devin and Munney picking a shoto type despite the lameness because I know you guys would get further. The characters Devin picks are more dependent on the weaknesses of his opponents to get wins and although mind reading your opponent always feels great, I would love to go into a match in this game feeling like I picked a character that can benefit most from the engine. But once again, this is coming from someone that only has a basic understanding of the game.

You CAN jump in ST just not blatantly. I should have phrased that better. Projectile wars a lot of the time with the right spacing you jump the projectile and start your combo from there.
