Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

I knew this game was going to be garbage the moment I laid eyes on it.

Exactly why did he need to crowdfund this? A guy with his resume would easily be able to acquire the money some other way. I guess he knew that all Megaman fanboys are manchildren who will give him free money for teasing their nostalgia boners.

No, you’re confusing the Triple A business model with shit companies like EA and Ubisoft. There’s nothing wrong with the business model and it was the entire reason video games have been successful up until now and created every video game you grew up playing.

Here’s what you are misunderstanding and where the industry is going wrong. What companies are doing NOW is taking the Triple A business model to the absolute extreme where budgets are overblown, games need to sell 5 million copies to break even, the focus is on graphics over gameplay, “cinematic feel”, so on and so forth. That is the far right extreme and is bad and doesn’t help anyone, but it is not the business model, that is shit management. Now what people are seeing is the far left extreme where designers are free to do whatever they want with no restraints, which seems like a good thing, but with people like Tim Schafer running around essentially scamming people out of money and blowing the budget on the game over shit no one wants and no one asked for, so that game you dumped money into funding is now split into two because the 834% funding they received dried up somehow and the experience promised was not the experience given, or the game is just flat out abandoned.

There needs to be a balance for good games to happen whether you like it or admit to it or not. That is how business works. You can’t be fully money driven but you can’t be fully idealist either. The best games ever made were made under budgets and constraints and on a limited time frame. Those limitations forced people to be more creative about what they included in the game and the workarounds they had to come up with to get around time and budget limitations. It was that forced limited nature that made people do their absolute best. Without the triple A industry there wouldn’t be an industry, everything would have collapsed in on itself and games would be more centered around ideas and concepts than focused driven goals.

I’ll defend the GOOD aspects of the Triple A industry all day long, fuck outta here with that childish nonsense about businessmen are bad because they don’t let me do whatever I want.

As much as we despise the AAA business model it still gave me many amazing games so as like with anything in life you have to take the good with the bad.

Lol…

Just tell me when I get my damn game.

Po Pimpus the type of nigga to yell at his mom if she doesn’t tuck him in and night and leave a mint on his pillow :fancygayteaflavormemethatepimadeup:

Better give the dude more money if you want the game. Anything below 650 million is unacceptable.

Irrelevant. They asked for a certain amount of money and promised a product in return and we more than gave it to them. I don’t give a fuck if they asked for $50. That’s still my fucking $50 and it’s a spit in the face when you turn around and tell me hey bro it’s not enough you need to give me more.

This reminds me of Shark Tank when the entrepreneurs see that there’s interest in their product and try to get greedy, but the investors are like “lol no, fuck you now.”

nods I wish I could unsubscribe from anything from Kickstarter asking for more money. I understand a lot of the economic realities involved, but ffs finish your first job before inviting me further into your pyramid scheme.

Seen the new cover?

They aren’t even trying:

Because no one has ever done that type of promo graphic or cover before mega right?

You’re surprised that a Not-Megaman game with developers of most/all of the Megaman games has a box art that looks like Megaman?

Remember one of Megaman’s potential names when they were designing him was Mighty Kid.

It’s not merely the segmenting. If you compare the cover to the image directly below, they use the exact same tapering & fogging of the lines. It just smacks of laziness, and that’s not what I paid for.

Certain similarities are inevitable, but this sort of copypasta is totally avoidable and totally lazy.

Wait, I haven’t been keeping up with the news, why is everyone mad?

The usual reason anyone is ever mad anymore.

Money.

For anyone who still cares, development is approaching the end

One side of me is happy that we’re getting a legit “Mega Man” inspired game again but it’s literally a reskinned Mega Man game! Yes I realize that he’s trying to keep it different and will probably have enough features to differentiate it from older Mega Man games but come on.
