Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

E was done by Hideki Ishikawa who did the official art of the Megaman Legends series. He’s been freelance for a long while now but came back during the MML3 devroom stuff. Other than his neat design, I give him mad respect for going as far as making ero-doujins/porn of his own work among other Megaman stuff. Gotta vote for his design.

Also, F got 30ish % of the vote. Although that means that some of the people that voted for designs other than E and H could now vote for F, those people from those groups still initially didn’t vote for F. So, those votes could very well end up in E or H and elevate beyond the total amount F could muster.

Then there is the factor that this recent polling was an open polling. We don’t know the percentage of the people that voted in this polling overlaps with the people that will be having Devroom accounts. Call F may have won 30% of the vote, but just how many of those votes were by people that would be receiving Devroom accounts down the line? And same applies with the votes for the other designs.

I think at this point, it’s still a toss up. Once again, I’mma vote E for ExHe****.org

Did he really do hentai of his own work?

Lmfao Megaman hentai. E I would have voted for E if F didn’t exist.

Yes. I’d link it up directly but nah. With enough light work of Googling you should be able to find some stuff. Here’s the title of one of them: [P-Head] Megaman - Ishikawa Hideki Works

http://studiop-head.neko.ne.jp/TEXT/top.html

P-Head being the name of the Circle that he’s a part of.

If E doesn’t win maybe you’ll get a doujin anyways.

I agree with you mostly about the fans, but the MML3 salt is more than justified. Let’s look at the facts:

  • After a 10-year gap, Capcom finally announces that MML3 will be produced. Capcom asks fans for their participation. Game isn’t greenlit and the project is abruptly cancelled. The prototype was even ready to go, and that was shot-blocked.

  • Capcom proceeds to mention that there wasn’t enough fan response to warrant greenlighting the project.

  • Capcom was never clear about the need for fan participation in the first place. Even from the beginning, the project was marketed as if them getting the game greenlit was as good as done, and they even outright stated that fans could just “sit and watch”. Never mind the fact that said project was poorly-advertised, and they used the Servbot numbers on Capcom Unity as a gauge (as most of us know Capcom Unity is a technical nightmare). If fans had known exactly how much their participation had mattered, they probably would have been more adamant about trying to join in on the devroom.

  • Compare this to Mighty No. 9. Unlike Capcom, the Kickstarter campaign that Inafune has started features clear and concise goals so supporters know exactly what they need to do to get the project off the ground. Looking back on it, the MML3 project was an unorganized and vague mess. No clear goals were set; essentially the active supporters were putting their blood, sweat, and tears into making resources for the game, and Capcom leaves them to assume that everything’s okay. Nope, game gets cancelled, and the fans are wondering why after they simply did what they were told.

Yeah, most of the fans became unbearable jerks after the MML3 cancellation, but I can understand why. Capcom fails to effectively communicate with the fanbase it claims to cater to, then turns around and blames them when things don’t go right. That’s going to leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth.

The stuff with UMvC3 and SFxT was just coincidental bad timing. IIRC UMvC3 was announced the day after MML3 was cancelled, so that salt was FRESH. SFxT BBA Megaman was Inafune’s idea, but that was planned way in advance. Stuff happens.

Yeah I can dig all that.

So Inafune says that he’s open to Capcom publishing it, assuming that their terms are good enough. While my initial, knee-jerk reaction is a resounding “NO”, I can’t help but wonder if he’s got something up his sleeve. The guy has Capcom in a corner, and he has a substantial life lead. Clearly he doesn’t need Capcom’s help with this project at all. Maybe he’s trying to find some way to recover Megaman’s IP before the Capcom ship goes down.

Well, if it is published by Capcom, Megaman can actually appear in the game… Maybe that’s his plan?

The Capcom hate is hilarious.

How does he have Capcom in a corner? If they don’t publish it, they lost no money whatsoever. If they do, they got a game developed at not cost to them and all they have to do to get in on the action is publish the thing. There’s no negative at all for them in this scenario.

With Razor. Either way, we still get the game. Seems to me like Inafune is giving Capcom an opportunity to regain some goodwill, he doesn’t even need them at this point.

Capcom would be fools to turn down this easy money. Hell, they should start paying Inafune to help with their games every so often

Eh, the way I worded that was kinda misleading. The entire scenario of Capcom publishing it is hypothetical. What I meant was that Inafune would be in an advantageous situation if Capcom appproached him as a publisher. His game still gets released regardless, Capcom might get some more good rep if they accept as a publisher (see: Ducktales), and Inafune would be a little closer to reclaiming the IP if he chooses to go that route.

It’s not about “Capcom hate”, it’s pretty clear that they’ve been going downhill over the last several years, both financially and in the eye of the consumer. Inafune doesn’t need Capcom, but Capcom sure needs something to get themselves out of this hole that they’ve dug for themselves. Whether a partnership like this would help or not is all speculation.

whats really funny is no one requested for a dmc remake, everyone wanted a new megaman game. And the sells for the DMC remake is a joke

How are they a joke? I thought it sold at least a million around launch. And while no one wanted that Dante I don’t blame Capcom for trying to reach a larger audience. Maybe now they understand what people truly like about the DMC series and will budget for a game that fulfills that need while gaining a profit.

I look forward to the Mighty No. Forums.

DmC’s sales are a joke because it sold about a million and a half less than the previous worst-selling game in the series because Capcom was too arrogant to listen when everyone was telling them that we didn’t want that shit.
Then, they let supreme douchebag Tameem shoot his mouth off about the fans and shit all over the OG Dante character as if his bullshit ideas were better*(fun fact: they weren’t)*

Off topic rant aside, I am looking forward to Mighty No. 9 and would like Capcom to stay far, far away from anything having to do with this project.

Not to derail the topic but I’ve never played Megaman and I would like to know which one is considered your favorite so can give it a try?
I youtubed megaman and I saw X, that is the kind of Megaman I would like to play. I saw Legends but the 2d ones look like more fun.

To me it sort of looks like Metal Slug judging by the kind of movement is done, at least for the few seconds that I saw.

Thanks for your input in advance!

Depends what kind of gameplay you’re looking for. If you want something faster-paced like try the X series (X1/X2/X4 are the best ones) or the Zero series (all of them). ZX Advent is worth looking into as well. Classic series is a little slower, but it’s still fun. Legends is my personal favorite, but it’s more of an adventure/platformer hybrid, with some RPG elements thrown in.

I haven’t played too much of the new stuff, but if you’re interested in a more puzzle-like platform experience, the classic series is the way to go.

The X series is more action-based and the advanced movement options speed the game up quite a bit. Very fun, but a different kind of fun compared to classic.

Megaman X1 X3 X4 X5 i never played the megaman series(kid one) only 7 & 8 btw the reason i think megama stuck with me as i was growing up was probably because of the incredible music

If you feel like soccer or go-karting there’s also that.
