Arcade ST tourney is confirmed, this year there will be no super gun converters, you must play on the cab but it will have interchangeable parts where you may user either a Happ Comp Perfect 360 with an American button layout or use a ball top instead with a Sanwa JLF. Thank Shinjigohan for allowing us to use his aracde setup, he is a man of men! Rules/format soon.

I’m interested in coming out for this, I’m hitting Acen the following weekend which may be the only real issue (two trips out to Chicago in a month!) but if I take a week off of work to job hunt in the area that would work out nicely.
Nice game selection though, I’m definitely down to support Tatsunoko and HDR!
actually, I do have the psx converters that work with my cab…
but as I recall dream had those last year and every though every year people complained about playing on shitty arcade cab sticks and not their own, only 1-2 people actually used the converter (VDO did I think, forgetting who else).

the ones he used last year were his. Though they were more of a jamma harness which had the converter installed directly into it. I ordered my own when I made my supergun/cab. However with 2 superguns I only have 1 set of jamma to psx converters. but I doubt that’ll get much use, but if they’re wanted I should have no problem bringing it.

While we would love to have SBO quals for ST, it looks like they might be in someone else’s hands. If that party wishes to work with us, of course we will figure something out.

The responsability of running an SBO qualifier generally also includes the tournament director or hosting venue to cover a portion of the plane ticket to the SBO tournament.
no it doesn’t. The only venue that has ever fuilly done that was planet zero. When justin and /nki qualed for some version of ST a few years ago all they got was the entry fee for the game to be used as a portion of their plane ticket cost. Dream has never took money out of his own pocket to fully pay for several plane tickets to japan. I’m not even sure if he’s even partially paid.
Which is why year after year there is a thread in FG about donating money to the SBO players so they can fly to japan and back.
It does help greatly to secure an SBO Qual spot if you can offer massive support to the winning team. Also, being 3 on 3, that support is a lot of money. I know the person who is probably getting the ST Quals has made such an offer, so its in his hands if he wants to work with MWC or do his own thing, and there of course would be no hard feelings either way.
If it’s not a hassle, please bring the converters. Just in case there are issues with the built-in sticks.
