Same here, I remember those days. It sucks that you have to get the league pass to see ANY good teams now though. Maybe TNT will contract more than just Cleveland and Denver next season. I swear the one day out the week they actually showed a game it was one of those two teams, or :wow: Cleveland Vs. Denver…who both suck.

I like football, boxing, and some baseball. That doesn’t mean I’m not a true fan of sports, just means I like certain ones. You like all sports no matter what they are? I mean if you don’t like boxing (USA Boxing team), then a boxing fan will say you are not a true fan of sports.

Ford will never make the changes needed to improve the Lions as long as Ford field is sold out every Sunday. Maybe if the fans would boycott a game or two, Ford would make the changes needed to improve the Lions roster. As long as Ford is making money, he will continue to NOT CARE how poorly the Lions do. He’ll sit up in that 20 million dollar yacht of his and drink champagne with Joey untill the cows come home.
Robotron… I worded what I said incorrectly, I meant, being a true fan of a sports team, I hate those people who convieniently jump on the bandwagon when the team is a winning team, but shows no support through tougher times. This pretty much characterizes 90% of Laker fans. And there are plenty of Pistons fans nowadays don’t even know Stackhouse played for us 7 years or that Lindsay Hunter was one of our best 3 point shooters in the past. Most of these guys jumped the bandwagon the year of winning a championship or this past year. I’m not saying its bad, its just sad to see random sorority chicks trying to say Rip Hamilton is there favorite player blah blah blah when they don’t even know where he went to school. And the best are the fans who don’t even know the rules of the game, but act like they are the biggest fans in the world… you’ll see this more in football than basketball.
The Lions need to sell out home games cuz if they don’t they get blacked out to us, which is gay as fuck. And I’d rather watch the Lions being shitty any day of the week than watch Kyle Boller managing to lose despite having the most talented defense in the league… or worse yet, watching Patrick Ramsey getting sacked for the Redskins.
And I’m calling it, Lions go to the conference finals this year. First two win barely and Harrington sucks it up, but we get by. Then we lose 2 and he gets benched for Fag boy. Fag boy leads us to a 9-7 record and we play the Eagles in conference finals, and lose. Yea it sounds far fetched, but the off-season is the best season for a Lions fan, they can have delusional thoughts for months without them getting torn apart.

…I guess I’m guilty of being the so called “Fair Wheather” fan. I was never a real big sports fan anyways, but my hopes would always be with the home team. I was never one to be in front of the TV every game. Mostly I would only watch sports during the last game/play-offs when it gets exciting. The home teams wont mind, any support goes a long way. Believe me, win or lose they wont even know your name on their way to the bank.

As far as the Lions go, I’d like to see them do well too, but I’m still suspicious of Joey. Don’t trust his skills yet. His best game was when he was sick…and even that one was still a loss, but not his fault, it was special teams that lost that game. Hes gotta start having more games like that one before I start believing in him.
What do you think of the draft picks? Too much offensive talent in my opinion, unless they are going to do some more trades before the season starts (which I’m positive they will). They need more pass rush and a better O-line…I hope they can find some before the regular season.
I despise Matt Millan…he fooled me, I thought he was gonna shake things up…hes not doing his job as far as I’m concerned…it Steve Mariucci’s job to choose the talent, let Steve do his job! Its not Matt Millan’s job to coach the team either…there seems to be some confusion as job titles in the Lion’s organization.
Harrington sucks… he has showed signs of not sucking but by enlarge he doesn’t fit a west coast offense.
I think this draft was straight.
The Lions loaded up on offense because I thought outside their terrible playcalling on defense and the fact that Fernando Bryant forgot how to play cornerback, the defense did pretty well considering the number of games were on the field for 80% of the game because the offense couldn’t get a drive to save its life. I figure Mike Williams was a good choice cuz he was the best offensive player left, and all the corners that were listed high got picked like 2 picks before us. Outside him, rest of the draft was pretty much what I expected from the Lions.
Either way, it all basically depends on if Joey Harrington actually can throw worth a damn with at least 2 premier receivers or how quickly Jeff “I’m gay but I date a playboy playmate of the year to cover it up” Garcia actually gets to play in the season. Because Garcia knows the west coast offense, and with those receivers, I can’t see him doing too bad a job considering the Lions have a better O-Line than the 49ers or Browns (two teams which don’t have o-lines).
As far as Millen goes. He makes good draft moves (the Fords wanted Harrington, Millen wanted someone else in that draft… but since the Fords are assholes… he had to get a “franchise quarterback”). Outside of that draft, he has made some pretty good drafts overall. Last year was awesome. Shawn Rogers was a great 2nd round pick. Boss Bailey and Charles Rogers would be great moves too if they ever played. The thing is, since Millen represents the administration, he doesn’t want to give up on Harrington, because doing so would “set the franchise back 3 years” and essentially admit to making a mistake, which you should know in political and business world is avoided at all costs. So they are sticking by Harrington to try to push through with this team. Mariucci from what I know doesn’t have any faith in Harrington, hence the conservative ass gameplans. All I can say is, if Harrington doesn’t start this year on point, he’ll lose the faith of other offensive players, which is like the worst thing that can happen. So hopefuly either he steps up or gets replaced fast. I don’t want a season long saga of harrington bullshit like last year.
Lastly, here is an article written by one of my friends right after the season ended about the Lions. Its so funny how sad it is, but its so sad how true it is.
