lions need to actually learn how to run the ball for them to be successful, i mean you can’t ask more than what harrington did today without a deep threat like roy williams. if the lions can’t run the ball, I can’t see them hitting the playoffs, because today would have been a great chance to tie Minnesota for the top spot, but instead winded up being shitty. My friend says the lions are going 7-9 this year (he said this before the year, and maintains it). I think they can go 9-7, but I realize that is being utterly optimistic and beating every team we are supposed to (like Dallas).

LOL… Lloyd Carr can afford to be predictable and usually get away with it simply because Michigan generally has more talent than its opponents. Thats why I think coaching at a big school in College football is overrated. You generally have more talent than your opponents, you don’t have to design the greatest plays or what not, you just have to keep their egos in check.
As for the predictability of the Lions, I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Mooch still doesn’t trust the team, so he forces them to play conservatively. I hope he quickly learns to trust them, because I feel we can’t afford to be conservative rest of the season and hope to win.
I also think the Lions defense needs to blitz more. I mean we got a great d-line and they get good pressure on the QB, but we need to blitz more to give the QB less time to throw all over the field like Testeverde did. I mean look at Philly, Pittsburgh, and the Patriots, they blitz endlessly. I mean, they might get burned on a blitz or two for a big play. But they don’t give a shit, they just come back and blitz again. They figure, if they hit your QB enough, he’ll stop being accurate. Hell it works. They all have the best records.
