Also, all tournaments today were cancelled, due to supposed ‘lack of interest’. Judging by the number of players who showed, it wasn’t crowded by any means, but there were more than enough people to get things going. Seemed like Dan was the one w/o interest to me. But I won’t hold a grudge, because today was the perfect day for a lot of people to get their final games in and say their goodbyes. Tonight was my last night there, since Sundays are usually my busy day. Didn’t play CvS2…but played some 3rd Strike and TTT, with a touch of SNK games. Good games to everyone.
To anyone who goes, tomorrow is the official last business day of Wizzards Arcade. Someone pick up the following:

If anyone is interested, I have a ton of tournament footage over the past 4 1/2 years from Namco and Capcom affiliated Wizzards tournaments. I may have time in a month or two to make a compilation of some games and behind the scenes footage; maybe label it “Da Best” of Wizzards or something. Let me know if there’s interest.
Looks like with the closing of Wizzards, my arcade visits will come to almost an abrupt halt with possible exceptions. The only places I have to claim at this time is Livonia Mall, and Oakland Mall; neither place has CvS2 or 3rd Strike (who does now?), so until Tekken 5 is released, it’ll give me time to catch up on my ongoing busy schedule and projects.
All in all, I’d like to thank Wizzards Arcade for the memories and hospitality its given me from the moment I stepped in, to holding my first tournament, to holding the 2 largest tournaments for their business. The parries, the Psychoness, the suicides ( If you know me, you know what they all mean 
) If anything, I made my mark through those experiences in the Michigan Gaming Community, and I hope that I’m not forgotten from that. See you guys later, I hope.

Well to comment some on the wizzards thing. Take with a grain of salt as I never went there much anyway however, while it is disapointing that no one came(not like I did or anything of course ethier but…)it was indeed short notice. It was also short notice in time when games are sorta on a skid and people just didnt care enough I think.
It would be a diff story if say this happend 3 years ago or something, where short notice wouldnt have made a diff in coming besides probably makeing everyone and more come sence they are all still intrested in the games at the arcade…

There may be some truth to that…perhaps. He seemed to be the guy to beat most of the time and inspired peeps to become better at gaming .

I guess that it really does take an intelligent mind to figure out that “Autolykos” and “Lycan” are actually one in the same. See the name “Autolykos” is greek for “he who is a wolf,” and “Lycan” is basicly saying the same thing since the word “Lycan” came from the word Lycanthropy meaning “to change,” this is mostly used for but is not limited to wolves. Calling me either or will be fine, it is just like how obot and cityhunter call me “Ookami” which is Japanese for Wolf. In short “Autolykos, Lycan, and Ookami” all practicly mean the same thing, but are in different languages. Sure Wizzard’s was a place for gaming. It was also how some of us met. It was also a place to hang…some peeps would just go there to meet then head to the show/FNG/go out to eat/John p’s house…etc. etc.
Thanx to this thread, I’m sure most of us will keep in touch. As far as a place to meet on a daily basis…I think that is the thing that most people will miss. Wizzard’s also TOLERATED a lot of nonsense from patrons that would never fly at any other self respecting arcade…like loitering, people hanging out in the back living area of the buliding and playing Halo…I’ve also heard of rumors of restroom sex, betting, etc.
Wizzard’s was dirty, almost never any new or the changing out of (popular) games. As far as arcades go, it was low quality.

I will attempt to shed some sort of light on the whole Wizzards closing thing. Many are saying “what are we gonna do now?” Its simple. We adapt. Wizzards was a great place to be, but not because of the games. Many of us have those same games at home. What made Wizzards great was the people. Nothing else. There have been many days when I would spend no more that $2 there, but still enjoy myself for 2-3 hours. Why? because of the conversations.
Wizzards stopped being about the games a long time ago for me. Its the friendships that were more important to me. I think it was like that for alot of ppl, too. We still have many avenues to meet (FNG, Pinball Petes, Halo). So, we will still see each other. Only difference is, now there won’t be a constant meeting place for us. I will miss the establishment that was Wizzards, but what really made it a great place to be is still present.
