Metal Gear SOLID Thread: Snake? SNAAAAKE!

Because its not coming out with ground zeroes.

Can anyone tell me why the rockets in my rocket launcher just shoot up into the fucking sky?

Streaming MGS Saga right now (afk for like 2 mins to grab snacks). Check my sig for stream link.

Gonna have to be more specific there’s a couple different Rocket Launchers in this series.

There aren’t very many games nowadays that I would consider “moving”. I’ve played so many different titles throughout the years, on so many different platforms and on so many different occasions, it’d be impossible for me to even recall some of the instances. But every now and then, more often not than so, I come across a gem. A piece of work that, once I’ve started it, I can already tell that it’s going to leave an impression on me.

To say the Metal Gear franchise has done this, would be an insulting understatement of what these games truly were, and will remain to be.

From the moment I started playing through the very first game, as a player I felt as if an amazing narrative and experience as a whole was being set into motion. And it was. All the way through into the very last moment of the very last game. Everything had been building up in the most climatic and astounding manner possible, for all those years that these games continued to come out. And honestly, my biggest disdain for the entire series is that I didn’t have the privilege of getting to grow up with these games. I’ve experienced this beautiful piece in all its fullness, but not in the sense most people probably got to. There’s an an emotional and personal attachment these games made with their fans, and it was a loyalty and sense of care the likes of which I’ve never seen before in a series. Attention to detail was king. It was a theme that was maintained seamlessly throughout every game, and shined brightly through almost every element. The characters, the setting, the gameplay…and above all else, the story.

The story of Snake, Big Boss and the ideology of Snake as a whole was incredible. The influence a handful of people had over the course and flow of mankind’s history as a whole was one of the most gripping, intelligent, and engrossing narrative’s I’ve ever bared witness to. And what amazed me as well was how well it all tied in with real world ideologies and concepts. I mean, some of these games were just plain ahead of their time. But I think the most impressive concept Hideo was able to pull off in this entire franchise was the drastic difference between the last game and it’s 3 predecessors (not to necessarily say 4 was my favorite, but I just find this impressive and clever). It’s almost as if Guns of The Patriot’s was acknowledging itself as the harsh, and sad reality that resulted from the actions that took place in the first three games. In fact, it even played into the concept of treating those titles as actual video games, making the contrasted reality of 4 hit even harder. And it’s this kind of narrative care and detail that in the end makes these kinds of games, so much more than just games. I feel as if I’ve learned something going through these titles, even if I’m not completely sure what exactly it is. But if there’s anything I know absolutely, it’s that these games have left a huge impression on me. It’s one that I won’t soon, if ever, forget.

Easily, easily, in my top 5 games of all time. Fuck a slow clap, this franchise deserved nothing less than this:

Long live the Legendary Mercenary.

TLDR

NOW FOR THE INSANE FUCKERY THAT IS REVENGEANCE

grabs a seat

Wait, no Peace Walker?

Matrian when you get to Peace Walker give me a holler I’ll play that awesome shit with you.

No Metal Gear 1 or 2?

This made my night and I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’ve just been trying to get through the main ones. Peace Walker will definitely be beaten. Just a matter of time.

It has multiplayer? Wut

I had a regular RPG in GOTP that instead of exploding on people, it would just come out of the rocket and shoot directly straight up, exploding against the ceiling. Made no fucking sense.

What?

Well this is what you get for using crappy rebel armaments, like the AK that jammed on Snake. None of that shit is guaranteed to work

But I bought it from Drebin.

And even so, you’d think it just wouldn’t fire or something if it was broken. This shit defied the laws of physics. Literally couldn’t even hit anyone with it.

Stop smoking reefer when gaming, or at least smoke less.

Well one of the missile launcher does shoot straight up, it’s an out door weapon, if your using it inside your doing it wrong.

And yea dude Peace Walker can support up to 4 players at once.

SHIT HAPPENED MAN FOR REAL

I played the first 10 minutes of peace walker and just haven’t felt like playing it. It also doesn’t help that it modified the delicious control scheme from 3. That didn’t make me happy

It’s modified because it had to be playable on the psp.

It was this gun

Like, has this never happened to anyone else? I feel like I’m going crazy lol.
