I’m pretty sure that the sun-bleached theory isn’t legit, only because you see Snake in the MGS1 briefing videos with long, blonde hair, and iirc he mentions having to cut his hair (which he’s shown doing in one of the briefing vids) and dyeing it to avoid confusion with Liquid.
I was playing through MGS: Integral a couple days ago (Japanese PSN) and although the internet is proving me wrong, Meryl sounds just like Near from Death Note…
Snake’s hair being blonde is something Kojima just never got around to keeping, but there’s no way it was blonde in MGS1, even in the briefing. Why the hell would a sub be carrying around hair dye? Scissors would make sense but not dye. And it’s the lightning that makes his hair appear lighter than it really is.
I know this has been discussed before but does anyone else think its stupid to have snake not sound like snake anymore…how are they going to explain the changed voice.
Him getting older. Simple and logical. Peoples voices change as they age. His voice was completely different in MGS4 for example and no one had a problem.
I mean I understand being disappointed at the voice change, I’m on the fence on it myself, what I’ve heard from Mr. Bauer has been good so far, but Hayter is such an ingrained part of these characters for me and many others hering someone else is going to be kind fo weird, but I don’t think the voice change is some super illogical thing that can’t be explained away, or even needs explaining. Not everything needs a narrative reason for being the way it is, that kind of mentality is what got us MGS4.
MGS4 felt like a apology for 2 or at least a way for hideo to say"I fucked up I know". Anyhow it’s just that snake IS David like how mark is the true joker…also given that snake is a pure clone of big boss it breaks my mind to hear him sound different.
MGS4 is absolutely in no fucking way an apology for MGS2. MGS4 is Kojima getting people to get the fuck off his back about answering plot points that where never meant to be answered…Ever. That’s why they are ham fisted and forced.
The only thing MGS2 cause was the realization that games as art are way the fuck over the heads of the majority of the people who spend a lot of time proclaiming games should be art.
And only Solidus is a pure clone of Big Boss, Liquid and Solid where both tampered with. Come on this is what the majority of the last 3 hours of MGS1 are about, and a big chunk of MGS2 is about.
Hey it’s been awhile and MGS2 turned me off the series… If snake eater wasn’t released as a filler I would have quit MSG.
That series has more convultion then even the worse animes for crying out loud. Still I’m fairly certain snake was a pure clone cause he was the only clone big boss acknowledged as a son.
That’s not true either Liquid goes into great detail about Big Boss his relationship with Big Boss and why he hated him so much.
Big Boss recognizes Solid Snake because he’s the only one who became an individual. He didn’t let his “family legacy” tie him down like Liquid and Solidus did. He did his own thing, fought for his own causes. Of the 3 he’s the only one worth considering as a son, that’s why he gets recognized as one. He’s not a pure clone, but it didn’t matter to him either way. Boss Respected that.
