Kinda agree, just finished doing the checklists for all missions and my hardest challenge yet awaits, ie finding them damn cargo delievery points and the animals. Like wtf this is the best challenge of the game? Ah well hopefully they DLC the stuff we lost tbh, dont want it to end like this.
Nukes cannot be stolen, they can only be dismantled. And yes, each time you build a nuke, it’s -50K Heroism. It’s brutal.
Cept’ getting S ranks on main missions can net you anywhere from 1600 Heroism.
During building my 1st nuke (36HR period or less depending on your Base Development Platform level) I had already
built up another 50K Heroism just doing random missions/side ops, ect.

Only gamers will dump 150-200+ hours into something and only AFTER start calling it “ass”. This “incomplete” game is still lightyears beyond any stealth game and only RPGs have a longer finish time. Yea, the story ain’t all that, but are we really pretending this isn’t a great game now?

It’s a good game, but not a good MGS game.
It’s missing a lot of charm the previous games had, and a lot of the bulk is just boring shit.
I noticed that, though I thought it was because I netted the trophy for all optional missions, floating boy was my last tick.
The stealth is cool the open world is a bit barebones but fun. Story is so forgettable i havent even done a replay

It’s not a good MGS story, I’ll give you that, but it’s certainly, decisively the best MGS game. Also, how is it boring at least compared to other MGS games? It’s MGS stealth gameplay, only with any possible option you could ask for? I do not get this sentiment.
The best MGS game? Idk, i dont think its in top 3 (MGS1-2-3, i rank them in that order too). Its better than everything post snake eater tho by far
For a future MGS open world game id like to see the story come first, progress it closer to the old pace. No side op bullshit until after the story is over, to refresh replayability. Allow a new game+

All the side missions are boring as shit, most of the main missions are pretty boring. The gameplay itself is fine, but it’s everything else that is boring. It is the only MGS game so far that I just have no real interest in replaying any time in the near future.
At least PW had co-op which made a lot of missions more fun than they really were, and it had a bunch of shit to fight to make using anything but the starting AR and pistol worth using.

I would have loved co-op in this game, Peace Walker was a pain in the ass to beat Solo.
Its the shit, I played it last month and its still GOAT MGS.
And the open world DOES make the game worse, since they designed everything around it. Now it’s “travers this boring ass landscape for 5-10 mins to get to your next objective” or “go back to ACC loading open idroid and navigate to your mission, pick drop point and loadout loading wait a minute while you watch dumb ass credits and hear more talk about the same shit you’ve already heard a million times.” It’s just bad game design at that point. If the world was filled with warring factions, innocent bystanders you could choose to save, interesting side missions that weren’t just the same exact thing 15 times etc. then I would consider it a much better game than I currently do.
The gameplay is amazing, nobody is arguing with that, but to say “this game is the best, it has SOOOOOO much content” is kinda stretching it IMO. Any game developer can copy the same mission 100 times and slightly tweak the difficulty/location. I know there side ops are supposed to be less important, but common now, give me some equipment, or at least a little back story to go along with my objective. Make it seem like there’s a purpose to me doing all this shit, not just “rescue this random nigga, here’s a little money bye”. That shit gets boring fast, and the most of the main missions weren’t good enough to make up for everything else that is lackluster. Take out the general characters/gameplay, and this EASILY could’ve passed for Ubisoft game #241. The gameplay is literally the only reason I’m still sinking hours into this game, but I feel like once I’m done with the rest of the mission tasks, I’ll be tired of the game and put it away for A LONG TIME since it’s structures doesn’t lend itself well to full restarts.
They had 5 god damn years and $80+ million, but they still could only let put a half baked product. Ground Zeroes was great for what is was meant to be: a prologue to the events of the main game. It had multiple missions, that even though you were in the same area, it felt fun and full of possibilities. I just wish that would’ve transferred over to the main game is all.
