Metal Gear SOLID Thread: Snake? SNAAAAKE!

Fuck Red Tanks and Fuck Red Choppers though, they take so many rockets even with the maxed out Recoilless Rifle.

I always take out the red tank first then deal with the rest. dive as it shoots then you wont get hit.

CGM 2 shots red choppers, dunno about red tanks I extract those fuckers. The IFVs get extracted as well but 1 shot will take out the wheels then its pretty useless. Mission 45 is a real bitch though as soon as the rocket launcher IFV appears, Quiet is worthless too in that one so the soldiers get good damage on you as well.

That said, Stealth camo and fire support…

FOB infiltration feels impossible even on the bases with limited security. I don’t think it’s for me.

Yep defending is by far easier than attacking, unless you go all rush to the core rambo style.

Yeah defending you can just die with Snake over and over, one death on Attacker and you’re done.

If konami would listen to my balance suggestions the mode would be perfect /:

Its so much fun pulling off a successful 4 strut infiltration but u gotta fuckin hope that the nigga offline |:

Or doesnt have supporters. I support loads of randoms, keeps me stocked with plenty of FOB defence.

Just unlocked the fulton gear for DD and I think its my favourite bit of kit lol. Sit on a hill with a tranq rifle boppin niggas and the dog just runs around extracting everybody when they drop lol. Also its a cool looking upgrade for DD, not like those silly sneaking suit things.

dd is that derty dogg. he doesn’t care about those full body armor guys. he’ll just stab them in the dicc :coffee:

I have that giant ass Official Guide Book that Konami/KJP/Piggyback Ent. Bought it today. Fucking unbelievable read/look.

It left me annoyed that there was no DOB for ‘The Boss’ though to give me some more context in the ‘relationship’ between Boss &
John (Naked Snake).

The group that wrote the guide did explicitly state though that if they were to give back story to EVERY character, faithfully,
that there would be another encyclopedia-sized book to accompany it—and they were plain forced to omit a lot just get
what we have.

(supplementary books later?)

What they published though is flipping awesome. After finally finishing it I was left sitting going
_

…and yeah, about the FOB Mode, Konami HAS to have proper feedback by now how completely lopsided the defending
of FOB is compared to infiltration. Fully maxed out FOBs are not a joke. Security Team maxed out at Lv.99 gives
infiltrators 10 minutes. Go ahead, I dare you not to trip up on something, or forget how traps are placed on
all 5 different platform types, including all their 4 struts. I dare you.

Maxed out weaponry for AI defenders will insta-kill you with shotguns/machineguns if you’re not wearing
the Sneaking Suit/Bandana.

Already seeing people trying to get record-times without using V/Ahab, and only either the tranq gun or just plain CQC.
(can still procure weapons on-site) but of course most aren’t suppressed.

Anyone else seen the footage out of TGS2015 for MGO3? I’m thinking there’s gonna be a LOT of similar bugs
& glitches from both MGO and MGO2. Man the players in those demonstrations were bad. 1 person outta each
team was any good. It was usually by a lot too. -_-

Maps are way bigger than I worried about. What a relief.

Yea i ordered mines last week, still havent came yet.

if your base is attacked is there prompt that comes up? I cant invade for shit only because of a player popping in

Spoiler

I heard you had to develop the wormhole fulton then you can defend your base, is that true?

rewatched the mission 45 scene, she stabbed dude in the dicc and crushed another dudes nuts with her heel :bee:

Yeah I bought the hardcover strategy guide from Amazon and it’s awesome.
When someones invading you you get a sound and a warning and in iDroid you get some red warning too so you can’t miss it.
I’m still not sure what’s better for my soldiers for the FOB defence, short range or med, seems people always CQC my dudes either way but still lose at the end or some rage quit for some reason.

Enemy AI will not (for some reason) use CQC against infiltrators (shame). I always use Medium Range because
AI defenders will bust out shotguns/machineguns/assault rifles. Higher Security Team level (Lv.30+) is where
they will actually start to do work. Assuming you bought all weapons highlighted in green in campaign.

Shotties/MGs will nearly insta-kill noobish infiltrators, and some skilled players even.

When choosing to do FOB Mode you MUST practice on your own base to know where all traps will be located
on whatever platforms/struts (addons), then all you need to worry about is best routes to goal, making
sure you’re exploiting AI routines at the same time, whilst trying to not go into alarm phase (because if
defender is online they will get alarm phase warning and the jig is up if they decide to defend in person).

Most human players are easily dispatched because either they suck at CQC, have horribly slow camera/aiming
speeds, and don’t know the bases. Ones that have some experience and are probably old MGO veterans,
are where you have to bust out the mind games and try to put them in the respawn screen.

…and that’s where the major unbalance is. Human defender can continually respawn, at increased respawn
wait time each death, infiltrator cannot. 1 life—that’s it. PRACTICE ON YOUR OWN BASES first.

Yeah I have all weapons developed and have been using mid range and also non lethal(people said it’s a good idea vs PC hackers with god mode because they still can be fultoned) but maybe I will go back to lethal.
My security team is around lvl 26 now, should be higher after I go on a fulton spree next time, everything else is lvl 61-62 except for the security because I’m auto assigning them all and they get the dirt leftover members lol.
Defending my base vs people seems so easy but ya I should practice on my own base more to get the hang of all the routes.

Am I missing out on anything important if I don’t play this online? I really only care about single player in anything that’s not a fighting game.

FOB will give you a lot more staff members so your levels will be higher to develop higher level weapons/gadgets, without a FOB it would probably take a butt load of S/S+ staff to get levels that high without a FOB., also you get more resources, GMP if your FOB wins defenses or the invader rage quits.
I barely attack and hardly get attacked with my FOB, you seem to gain more than you lose if it’s decently upgraded, it doesn’t seem like something you really have to babysit, just when you play the game fulton stuff and auto place your crap guys in the FOB and auto set the defense in all the platforms.
Also lock your A++ or S staff so they can’t ever be stolen.

real online mode isn’t up yet…oct6. looks kinda shitty but everyone will play it. I suggest you give it a try.

in a WEIRD way this isn’t too bad for me. at least I won’t be spending so much time with mgo3 like I did with mgo2. at times it was unhealthy too. I played european survival for 4hours then NA survival too. sometimes even japanese survival on the weekends.

Okay I just finished the “true ending.”

I have a lot mixed feelings. Shit feels like it was rushed.

I think what has a lot of people not wanting to do FOB Mode is the fact that they’re trying to hold onto
all their really high (A+ and higher) skilled soldiers not realizing that their Heroism Level is what decides
what ranks/skills will show up.

Late game/Heroism above 175K-200K you get A++/S ranks all the time. It’s only the S+, S++ that are rare.
For FOB Mode (when you’re bored with campaign) you wanna start putting those high skilled soldiers in there
ASAP. Soldiers with skills too, no blank pages.

Some RPG grinding for multiple soldiers like that though. LOL Shit, Kojima…
