Naw, there is really 0 reason for the tranq gun to be there.
either make the tranq gun ammo as limited as chaff grenades in MGS4
or
bump up so many enemies that tranqing everyone in an area isnt viable anymore
or
make it a “finish the game without killing anyone” unlockable
or all three

Come to think of it, why are there even boxes of anesthetic(tranq.) rounds lying around? It’s not like the enemies are using tranquilizer guns so there’s no point. Also the fact that you can buy tranq. rounds off of Drebin in MGS4 is totally stupid.

Well it makes sense for the other things that the enemies are probably stocking and using themselves.
Besides The End & his non-lethal bullets, I’ve never seen a guard or someone else try to smoke me with them.
MGS1 Snake procured all his stuff from inside the base. His arsenal felt right. Whereas boxes of tranqualizer rounds appear from out nowhere in the later games.

The split was inevitable since Kojima has wanted to quit making MGS games since after 2 and Konami keeps making him do them.
3 was really good tho. I don’t know why he didn’t wanna make more.
anyway played new mgo all day today. was fun like old times but it was laggier than usual since there are europeans and japanese players all on the same server. saw some cool gears including everything from all region tourneys. unlimited ammo patriot gun is there too.
Because some designers and developers want to branch out and do different things. Not many people are willing to work on a single series for a long time, let alone multiple decades. Especially when it comes to games as very few go in saying “yeah, this is going to be so good I’ll still be doing this 15 years down the road”.

Yup, again Kojima wanted to be done since MGS, hence Raiden. Konami fucking about too hard for that guarenteed MG cash, from a business point of view it makes sense but they have deprived us of ZOE 3, maybe a remake of Snatcher/Policenauts (which would have been mind blowingly fucking excellent).
Any other fresh ideas from Kojima with Konami bankrolling which could generate other awesome stand the test of time franchises, all of it up in smoke cause some limp dick wanted more yen.
Ah well fuck it lol, we will never know. Now lets see Kojima pull a Keiji Inafune and crowdfund a new project whilst at the same time pissing away his reputation and generally being despised by all life on earth, its gonna happen.
Reading from the video game thread, I’d laugh hardcore if the reason Kojima’s gone from Konami was cause of internal power struggle shenanigans. Maybe he tried to take the reigns on everything, but got (business) cock-blocked? Go fig.
As for Tranq gun in MGS games, I’m no stealth game pro, but then again, don’t fuckin penalize me for wanting to silence someone permanently to make my goings easier. Even if I have to go down the River of Sorrow 2.0.
Chances are Kojima wanted to do other shit besides MGS, but Konami said no.
