Mikami is no longer at Platinum Games.
Yeah looks that way. Where there is Raiden there is bound to be Vamp.
Pretty sure MGS3 was regarded as one of the best in the series with 4 being arguably the worst?
Personally I love all 4 so…whatev
PS - I love the crying wolf bossfight in MGS4. The last two B&B bosses were the best. First two…blah.
Crying Wolf made me sad because all I could remember was how epic and tense the Sniper Wolf boss fights and The End boss fight were.
I think thats your teenage nostalgia talking. Sniper Wolf was epic but Crying Wolf was no slouch. The setting that lead up to it was pretty good. And I like how the PMCs scattered the field just to keep you on your toes. Bah, the boss battles in MSG4 were already like re-hashes of previous games so…hell…
Laughing Octopus and Raging Raven were so fucking lame…my god
The boss fights in MGS4 where designed to be remembrances of past boss fights. They all weld a weapon of a previous boss, hold a similar name, and hold an emotion of a past boss.
I like Laughing Octopus, especially if i choose not to use the Solid Eye. She’s really fun that way. I think as a boss fight I like Raven the least. It doesn’t feel very structured or built to test any of the skills you’ve built up. I also had the hardest time with her during my BB run. Getting spotted during that boss fight is so damn easy due to all the Ravens flying around, not to mention her zooming in an out of the tower. She was a real pain.
Crying Wolf is really cool if you choose to not hide under the truck. She’s a tough ole bitch who will run your ass over without hesitation.
Mantis is really easy and kinda simplistic but the Nostalgia tip is off the charts, makes her pretty fun anyway.
Yes the nostalgia alone makes Mantis the best b&b boss of MGS4. The setting, the music…etc etc it was all so “I remember this…this is awesome.” The parts where Meryl is forced to put the gun to her head, the reading of your “memory card” the whole bit.
Heh when I first saw my bro rech the Crying Mantis battle
…and then Psycho Mantis showing up I told him to switch to controller 2, just to be safe XD
Naw most people felt MGS2 was the weakest of the series. MGS4 was good times and i liked that they wrapped up everything in one game.
BTW, in the trailer
Did the Ray look like it was colored with Gray Fox’s colors from MGS1? It even has the cyclops eye from his exoskeleton
All of the Beauty & Beast boss fights seemed whack to me with the exception of Laughing Octopus and none of them were challenging. Raging Raven was just an annoyance and not fun at all to fight. On a second playthrough I might think different of Crying Wolf, but it left a bad taste in my mouth first time around. Sniper Wolf’s boss fight had more emotion for me.
MGS3 was the best one of the franchise though. It had a compelling story, excellent gameplay, and every single boss fight was fun unless you want to count The Sorrow as a boss fight which I don’t.
Now, I can say that this is an unfair prejudgement…
Most of Raiden’s cutscenes in MGS4 was over the top action… he didn’t need stealth be on an even playing field…
imo Raiden really has no place in the saga to begin with… both of Raiden’s main character appearances should’ve been non-canon, but since they weren’t, just enjoy the game as is imo…
Which fucking Metal Gear Solid+Platinum Games… I do not have reason to doubt this company… if anything made by Platinum Games has been low-quality, then no game is good enough for you…
If this was a Ninja Theory or Capcom effort… I could understand your concerns… but Kojima+board of writers+ Platinum Games… C’mon son…
I’m with the haters on this one. Where MGS went wrong was going too anime instead of keeping the 80’s action movie feel of MGS1. Metal Gear Revengance seems to have gone completely anime crazy. Hopefully the game doesn’t play as much like Dynasty Warriors as it looks. I’ll probably still end up getting it but my expectations have plummeted.
I understand what you’re saying. I reserve my initial judgment of it until i actually see something on that aspect of it. it is still being produced by Kojima so The Man’s hand will still be in it.
Yo, my nigga throwing RAYS like Tom Brady to Moss. . . . . ALLDAY
Platinum is just handing the gameplay. Kojima Productions are handling the story and everything else. They’re checking back and forth with each other. I mean I myself really get into the MGS story so I understand your views and Vanquish and Bayonetta don’t have good stories at all but don’t count the story out just yet.
Crying Wolf was lame the first time I faced and every time after learning the smoke and stun nade and being able to shoot her in the face when she tackles you.
Screaming Mantis was the best the first time through because I was so confused on what to do, just like old times. I switched control slots, Otacon calling me “I don’t think so Tim”, beating her and seeing Psycho Mantis, the Kojima image.
The beauty sections were ugh if you weren’t screwing around with them.
MGS4 CQC was awesome though.
My MGS rankings
MGS1 MGS2 MGS3

MGS4
MGS4 was a great game, just a bad MGS game to me. I need to pick up the collection and play PW.
Was not interested in this game at all before.
Platinum? Oh god, Platinum making Kojipro change stuff because gameplay comes first?
I’m not even that disappointed about a lack of bayo 2 now.
Kojima and them are still handling narrative and story Platinum is only working on Gameplay, tho I guess they did get Kojima to push the games narrative to after MGS4 then before it.
Word dude. I’m so stoked.
