I don’t mind, as long as the director has a backbone. If they can’t tell the fan-base to go fuck themselves and make a good movie, instead of just what the fans want, then there is no hope.

Well I think there are a good number of games that would make wonderfully fun movies in the right hands. A Robert Rodriguez DMC movie would be fucking tits.
I just don’t see the point in taking something that goes out of it’s way to emulate a movie and making it into a movie.

Doing Metal Gear 1 tho would be tits and is really the perfect one to do. It has a great set up, little actual narrative pros in it so they are free to do what they want witht he script and they only have to hold onto the basics of the plot. Snake on a rescue mission, meet Grey Fox, learn about MEtal Gear, Destroy MEtal Gear, Big Boss reveal. It’s perfect.
We’ll see what they do tho I guess.

Hmmm. Do I have to be a MGS fan to fuck with this? I mean, I know a bit about story and characters, but never played any of them besides first few chapters of MGS2 and MGS4.
I’m just asking to be nice though. Never cared for Raiden but dude is a legit cyber ninja now (never made it to part in MGS4 that people jacked off to, so I still remember him as a naked Kingdom Hearts character). And the dog. The nigga has a dog. That’s almost always reason alone to cop a game.
For some reason I keep imagining this as Ninja Gaiden + Vanquish or something, which is putting this on my radar. But if I’m wrong, please let me know. Because I don’t want to buy MG shit anyway…

Considering that producer dude worked on X-Men, which David Hayter wrote the screenplay for, maybe we will see Hayter involved in the movie, which would inspire a lot of confidence for me. He’s always expressed a great deal of affection and respect for the franchise.
I remember maybe 1.5-2 years ago watching some indie italian MGS film project that was really impressive. I’d recommend it to any MGS fan with a couple hours to kill. Great PV for an indie project.
