Thoughts on Sam DLC after completion:

I think it does a great job of explaining Sam’s stake in all of this. We get to see how he gets his cybernetic arm. The murasama blade being able to take Armstrong’s hand off regardless of his nanomachines is proof of his sword skills. My question is did he join Armstrong because he had no other choice? I mean he did push Raiden to better himself and ultimately take down Armstrong. I guess he realized his human limitations? I know Sam and Armstrong have similar ideals but I feel Sam didn’t really trust Armstrong anyway.
Love the production value that has kept consistent when compared to the core campaign. Those cutscenes were awesome and I didn’t mind the reused locations since it flows with the narrative anyway. As I mentioned before attack animations are faster now. A few enemies have changes in attack patters but the mastiffs seem to be unchanged for the most part. The Sam mission is very long and has VR missions embedded in it . This time the VR missions have letter ranks instead of gold emblems. Sam having a double jump and air dash gets him out of tight situations. I guess this is to compensate for no ninja run. His evade seems to have more invulnerability frames than Raiden. Sam chain attacks aren’t as long though. Sam doesn’t have stealth take downs but you can blade mode execute normal enemies. The UG’s are another story…for what it’s worth you get the first attack lol. Going to do a S rank Revengeance run but it’s probably going to be the toughest run ever. -
The DLC is solid and I think it’s totally worth the 10 bucks. Looking forward to Blade Wolf DLC since he’s a cybernetic wolf it will probably be a brand new experience.

So far my best tech is throw RF grenade, taunt, L, L, hold H, profit. 
You gotta dodge all over the place with Sam, since none of his attacks stagger and you’re boned if you trade. Chain into a heavy, see how long you can hold it down, and then back dodge out of trouble. You can’t cancel a parry with a dodge with Sam, though, which is some of the worst shit. I’m pretty sure you can cancel a dodge with a parry but Sam’s dodge is so fast I can’t tell for sure. Definitely not a good option select like it is with Raiden.
Basic Sam BnB described yesterday. Apparently Sam can also charge attacks in Blade mode which I didn’t know. o_O
I cleared it. I’m not surprised you can charge during Blade Mode. I was going for a double zandatsu and got hit out of it. That never happened to me with Raiden.
I like Sam but since he doesn’t have as much as Raiden it’s a bit of a letdown. I was pretty much always finding ways to land max charge attacks every time.

This Armstrong is ehhhhhhhh, that new charge attacks seems to randomly make sharp turns to hit you.
Taunt is cool. When enraged, the big sword attack too frequently or block and mastiffs grab more so it feels useless vs them. I think it gives a damage boost on regular guys anyway.
I wish you could increase the sword strength.

Sam’s campaign seems much harder than Raiden’s for some reason. Camera is somehow WORSE and fuck Armstrong. Nice DLC so far tho, have yet to beat Armstrong

I started it back up because I forgot about dodge offset. Fucking hell, Sam doesn’t have it.
Yeah, Sam hits like a bitch. And being forced to rely on the taunt mechanic is lame.

I’m just gonna wait for the MGR:CE for like $30-$40.
by then the wolf DLC would been out already and I’d have all of the skins already on the disc to unlock.
the gameplay seems fine to me…
use charge attacks, dont taunt when he goes super saiyan god on you use more charge attacks. you will have to dodge for awhile but eventually he calms down
Beat the DLC in less than an hour on Normal (though the difficulty felt like Very Hard w/Raiden). Skipped the VR Missions, though… Never cared for them. So far, I think I like Sam’s playstyle better than Raiden’s, despite the lack of moves/material. Sam is just so much flashier… It really seemed like a DMC game, from the charge attacks to the air dashes. His walljump attack is pretty slick, too. Lack of AR Mode is no bueno… Without it, I couldn’t be bothered to look for Upgrades/Unlocks. All things considered, I guess it was worth the 800 MSP price tag but, I still wish it was longer, allowed upgrades, and had the VR Missions separate.
This DLC, as short as it is, showed me that MGR:R, while amazing, was truly an unfinished game. However, this revelation just gives me hope and foresight for how great MGR2 will be.

Also most of the life and energy upgrades are easy to find cause Sam is rarely in any huge areas.
I climbed the damn tower in the Japanese garden and what do I find? Disappointment.
