Metal Gear Rising thread. Releasing in Early 2013 for PS3 & 360

Sam DLC will allow us to play as the true Vergil…
Just finished the game and you guys weren’t kidding about that final boss fight. That shit was borderline retarted, mostly due to the iffy Blade Mode controls with the Right Analog Stick. I had to swith to the left after dying like 8 times before I had a chance… then I died 5 more times lol. I think I’m downplaying my death count, though… 19 Continues as of the final Game Result screen. My only other deaths were during those scripted sequences where one mistake was almost always instant death, and that happened like 5-6 times tops.

Well, time to start my 2nd Playthrough. This time, on Hard as Grey Fox.

BTW

Spoiler

Raiden has HANDS. Please tell me there’s a way to unequip your weapon and throw bows throughout the rest of the game…

Just killed Sundowner on hard. He wasn’t too hard and I died only a few times without using any nano paste. Once I learned how to cut the shields and shoot an rpg at the helicopter, I beat his second form on my first try because he’s pretty easy to parry and dodge his unblockables. It also helps that he seems to take more damage than other bosses, they probably balanced his health around his shields.

Lock on in this game could be better with the camera. With Monsoon Sai on the elevator fights, I was locking on to the flying enemies but it kept tracking to the hammer guy even though there was a clear shot and lock on the birds. It also doesn’t help that is can screw with your parrying direction if someone like monsoon does a crossup vega dive and goes offscreen but the camera doesn’t pan fast enough so you have to parry preemptively the other way. It also gets very hectic if you fight near a wall with the camera. I still like the game though since the combat is paced like NG. If they panned the camera more and made the lock on “stickier” it could make it feel better.

For some reason when I saw it, I tried to blade mode it with no zandatsu sign up. I was thinking maybe it was a trick to end the sequence faster but it just ended up doing 60% of my hp.

Also is it me or does breaking throws also seem reliant on how much hp you have left? At the beginning of the monsoon fight if I get grabbed it’s really easy to shake off, but later in the fight it’s quite hard to get him off before he starts stabbing.
Beta, you’re in the House of the Lord Raiden and you dare call yourself a God? It’s okay though, he forgives you. You’ll stop faking that you haven’t seen the light soon enough.

I love the sentence fragments this game inspires. We have “karate chinamen gekko” by SWBeyblade, and “hiding in a box about to be raped by gorillamen” by yours truly

Fox Blade is that OP? Welp, Revengeance mode is look pretty fray(minus the boss battles of course)

I absolutely love the Bruce Lee dwarf gekkos.
Idk what’s wrong with DSP. Every new playthrough seems like it’s his first time playing a video game. Its the reason I stopped watching his videos.

Anyway, there are annoying parts to the Monsoon fight but, the mist one isn’t one of them. You can parry him on reaction there, just wait for him to pop up. I parried that giant ball of death too, thinking it was gonna get reflected back at him or something. Like I said, I ain’t neva scared.

Also, I think the Senator is confirmed to be B. Rabbit from 8 Mile.

About the final boss…
[details=Spoiler] So should I even bother parrying if I just keep losing health every time?[/spoilers]

Sometimes the Road to Enlightenment is long. But better to take your time. Enjoy the journey.

Sam needs his own game… or at least some story DLC, a la Vergil’s Downfall. He’s such a great character. Wish we could’ve seen more of him.

Hard isn’t hard really. The toughest part was vs the final boss because anything he does that isn’t a melee attack can kill you in 3 hits. I went in there with 100 health. If you botch the Zan datsu vs the debris, you’ll die instantly. I rematched him tonight and killed him at 180 health and max energy.

Sam’s blade+Desperado skin=RED LIGHTNING.
I believe the upcoming DLC will let you play as Sam, so your wish is granted.

As much as I love this game, this final boss is a piece of shit.

Wait, now it’s awesome, holy shit, what is even happening right now? O_O
