So the same country that has cartoons of underaged girls being gangraped by schoolteachers and demons, has games like Rapelay where you play as a serial rapist, and vending machines selling used panties right out in the street along with aforementioned rape porn cartoons; is the same country too lame to have humans being killed and instead changes all the human enemies to cyborgs? Man, Japanese dudes became total pussies, no wonder their women don’t want to fuck them anymore. I bet they start bawling with their faces in their hands while begging their gf to hold their purse anytime they see a human character get killed in any movie or game ever.
Sarangha: There’s a huge difference between slicing someone precisely as you chop their body to bits in very precise and calculated strikes, and slicing them anime style. This game looks like typical anime shit, where the hero has to slash them a bajillion times a second just to do any damage. The old video Raiden had to use calculated strikes and you could literally slice them from any direction with dynamic cuts that affected the bodies and objects in real time. Now it’s changed to generic anime Bleach looking bullshit, Raiden just hacks them a billion times real fast tile they finally explode. GAY.
In MGS4 Raiden stopped Arsenal Gear dead in it’s tracks didn’t he? That thing was big enough to hold 25 Rays and Raiden was still overpowering it. Throwing one Ray really isn’t shit by comparison.
Like woah on your JP culture rant. Remember there are a lot of normal people in Japan and culture is very different outside the main cities, rural areas and not everyone is a weirdo. I remember when I was in India for two years people thought Jerry Springer was the daily life of Americans. I mean we could debate all day that shit happens here and there but at the end of the day none of that stuff matters.
So yeah pretty much the exaggerated Raiden is now justified. Most of the internet missed the vital point explained above including myself. There were so many cinematics in the game and so much information to digest I could see why people missed certain things. As far as the game being “too anime” that was all Otacon talked about lol. The game isn’t going to be for everyone rarely any game is. I’ve already stated in previous posts I loved the crisp frame rate and animation of the old build. Though after seeing the gameplay video of Raiden running up walls, slicing enemies & rays my jaw dropped. Art in motion imho, that is not debatable! This game is gonna give Ninja Gaiden,DMC,Platinum and some Konami fans what they want.
I give 100% PRAISE to Kojima and Konami productions. It takes a lot of balls to admit your idea isn’t going anywhere and salvage your idea to give to another company. Most companies release half finished products and shove DLC down your throat. While others give it to a western dev who makes it something unrecognizable. Raiden is still his badass self and other than the gameplay the presentation looks straight ripped from Metal Gear. I remember reading a youtube comment where one dude brings up a good point about Kojima’s dream of his team continuing MG failing.
He stated in a random interview that he wishes his team to continue the franchise in their own vision. It’s devastating to know they couldn’t do it but like I said it takes balls to admit you can’t do something and make the best of it. To this day I have never seen an apology/failure and conclusion mini doc from any dev. If this game becomes GDLK which I have a good feeling it will I hope that they make more games for Konami. The most important point, they gave it to a critically acclaimed dev like Platinum games.
For people who are coming into this thread without knowing the history of this game peep this:

If you go back and watch the original footage, everyone one of raidens swipes cleany cut the enemies limbs off and or sliced the straight in half. They werent a bunch of meat bags soaking up damage.
Youre complaining about minor aethestic differences when in the end its all about the fuckin GAMEPLAY. Obviously you missed the original intent of the game.
Minor? Considering the big gameplay gimmick was that you could CUT THROUGH ANYTHING including buildings and shit with dynamic cut strokes and effects. Yeah that’s not a minor aesthetic. Sorry, not all of us have Jap dick down our throat and want everything to look like some shitty fight scene in Bleach. They’re basically just making the game look and play like Bayonetta, which is nice, for you know, BAYONETTA? I do think it’s telling when the Jap dick suckers come out to play though. It’s ok to whine about Resident Evil becoming CoD with zombies, but god forbid you bitch about a game turning into retarded anime shit. And yes, I realize nanomachines is retarded, doesn’t mean the series needs to have anime shit slapped all over it. What’s the final boss gonna be, a giant god statue made of nanomachines?
That was honestly Kojima’s fault. I watched the interviews back when this first got changed, and it sounded like he basically told the team “make this game with stealth and action shit, good luck”, then left them with no direction at all. Then he comes back pretty much “wtf, why you no finish game?” Wtf did he expect honestly? I mean if I came to some team and told them to make a game with shit that conflicts with itself, and gave them no direction or anything concerning my vision of said game, how can I be surprised if I come back and they have jack shit?
I mean to be fair, I loved Bayonetta so I do like the style they do their games in, just sucks the original idea got axed because the dev was off doing what the fuck ever instead of directing his damn team. You know damn well Kamiya directs his guys to make sure shit gets done exactly the way he wants it. Kojima fucked up then basically said “here, Platinum, you guys do this”. Could be worse though, could be like Capcom, tricking Ninja Theory into remaking DMC so if the game bombs all the fans blame Tameem and Capcom gets off scot free.
How was it Kojima’s fault? He told to the team to do their jobs and they couldn’t get it finished. lol. He expected them to get their jobs done. I don’t think he ever was supposed to be heavily involved with the project, due to him working on his new engine / game.
When did it change that you could cut through anything? I swear I saw a video of him cutting through a car and still doing the slow motion cutting that was in the first conceptual trailer.
Honestly, who thought this was going to play like Tenchu? The main MGS4 game didn’t give much of a fuck about stealth. lol.
In the VR Missions as Grey Fox, you owned the living fuck out soldiers and when you got the HF Blade in MGS2, you were a force to be reckoned with. You’re a cyborg ninja in the MGS universe: they do outrageous shit at all times with little regard for stealth. I think the team got confused.
I get what you’re saying, but the whole “blah blah japanese dick sucking blah blah bleach” shit is retarded. Let’s be honest, Metal Gear went anime as soon as it landed on PS1 and Grey Fox got the cyborg ninja suit. This shit is just an extension of that at this point.
It’s his fault for giving them such a vague and conflicting concept and then leaving them to their own devices. I mean yeah they dropped the ball, but had he been there directing them maybe they’d have done a better job. It’s like some guy having a band and saying “yo, make a song that’s a mix of rap and death metal, with sick guitar riffs, and add country music”, then leaving them to figure out how he wanted it done.
And yeah maybe I’m harsh about the anime shit, just MGS was sorta like… like the best way to describe this is like Supernatural. The show obviously has some weird ass shit in it, but it felt somewhat grounded in reality for that specific series(ie. The two bros are vulnerable to demons, they can’t fly or shoot lasers or nuke the planet). Then imagine a later season they make Dean into Dante, and now every episode is him instagibbing all the monsters while running on the ceiling and chucking cars at them while spewing lasers from his mouth. I mean, yeah it looks cool but kinda kills the vibe the show had going. Plus it makes Snake seem kinda lame and shitty now, Raiden is gonna be male Bayonetta, wtf is Snake gonna do now to compete with that, smoke 5 cigarettes at once instead of 1?
I kinda think 4 was when Kojima just stopped caring, wasn’t that the game where Raiden stopped a giant battleship with one hand or something?
Man this fucking game looks NOTHING like Bayonetta, ATY ALL. Not even in gameplay. The system is COMPLETELY different. Get outta here with that bullshit.
And this games team came to Kojima with the idea and he said “Ok get it done” and they blew it. Kojima’s trying to run a studio with multiple teams. He was never directing MGR. It was their job to get shit done and they blew it and Platinum swooped in an saved shit.
Being able to cut people up with single sword strikes would be novel at first but would get boring as fuck quickly. Nothing would stand a chance against you, fights would be over in seconds. In order for that concept to work the pace of this game would have to be slow as fuck and for an action game that shits boring as fuck.
It’s not even Kojima’s game, what the hell are you telling him to work on it?
While he was working on something else, he wanted his team to make a Metal Gear saga game, the people he’s passing the torch to. They dropped the ball. They worked themselves into a corner, the producer or director was replaced and to save the game because they couldn’t think up anything, brought in Platinum Games.
You’re pretty much saying you’d rather no game at this point. It was axe the game or Revengence. How bad was the game that the developers looked at their own work like “uhh where is this going?” and almost canned it?
Are you serious? Remember the Ninja in MGS1? Psycho Mantis? The first time we see Vamp in MGS2? Fortune having bullets miss her? Volgin, The Pain, The Fear?
The only difference here is instead of being the normal guy, we’re one of the freaks.
