Mechanics and the Games that Spawned them

I think Cyberbots its the first game with a one-button dsh/airdash

I believe SF1 had either (random?) unblockables or overheads, since I recall eating attacks from Adon all the time.

SF2WW introduced instant overheads, too. It might be interesting to check if other games had moves with the sole purpose of evading attacks, such as Claw’s backflips from WW. In CE, Ryu could avoid several setups with tatsus, but that’s not very different from Dee Jays upkicks, which only hit high, and both work as attack moves in several situations.

Art of Fighting had EX moves in the form of giant fireballs.

KOF 94/95 had a Roman Cancel type of thing with doing certain commands while doing normals. This turned Joe into A MONSTER in 95.

Actually, bursts were started by Magneto in COTA…remember what he would do if you started a combo? He would shift the stage and fuck up your combo.

Arcade DBZ was the first with flight mode.

Arcade Gundam was the first with dashing IIRC.
