MD/VA BlazBlue Thread!

Except Honda didn’t have a clutch ass counter super, that he can combo off of!

shrug, waiting to see how the game develops. might need to switch my tournament character to someone else, might not.

i don’t really like any of the character designs. the mechanics seem really badass, but the characters aren’t that cool imo. they all do seem to play differently (with really interesting drives) which is probably why i’m gonna get it.

Noel is not really “good”. As in if you’re looking to win tourneys with her she’s far from top. I was looking at the tier list that my bro showed me for the game and it’s pretty much Nu, Rachel and Arakune at the top. Another tier list even had Rachel and Arakune tied above Nu. Though I think it was looking at different aspects than the other tier list. So basically if you wanna get the most for your money competitively…stick with Rachel and put her in the danger room so it’ll pay off later.

In the US it really doesn’t matter who you pick right now cuz unless you’re Heart Nana (who coincidentally lives in Japan) or a couple other people you don’t really know how to play this game at a high level yet. As long as you’re not playing Tager you should be alright.

Oh and I got the game yesterday so I might step online to play.

Damn, I would want to hear what you would say about GG character designs then.

The only characters in this game that I don’t think are that cool are…

Bang - Is that all they got for a ninja? Also, that’s a pretty lame weapon

Carl - Shoulda just time traveled his design 10 years or something.

Arakune - Not only does he play lame, he’s literally a piece of shit as well.

Taokaka - Lame and annoying.

Everyone else is imo flawless to me. I could deal with playing any character aside from those 4.

edit: I left out Tager, he blows too. ^^

It was pretty funny to see everyone drop Tager once the tier list was out. It’s a good thing, because I didn’t really know the spacing to counter him and stuff. I kept getting grabbed by dumb shit lol.

Just got back from playing BlazBlue for the first time at Power Gamer in Glen Burnie. Ever since Tilt in the Annapolis Mall shut down I haven’t played a fighting game on a real arcade machine, but got excited for this even though I haven’t payed BB any attention at all. Since this is the only game with any scene close to where I live I’ve just decided to try and get as good as I can at it, even if I grow to hate it in time. :karate:

So what’s the most popular day and time to hit it up? I don’t have a ps3 or 360 so I have no means of practicing at home. I guess that puts me at a disadvantage but I’m cool with that. I’ve dedicated myself to Hakumen so far, seconday character may be Taokaka but I really like how Hakumen plays, although getting used to keeping track of his stocks is going to be a pain. So basically I’m setting myself up to never win.

Played by myself trying to get the hang of it. Had one random match, guy said he just bought the game today, went straight for V-13 and wailed on the D button. Got one round on him though. Bastard.

The machine and buttons are great, although I have some trouble dashing, maybe that’s just me though. All characters and colors unlocked, setup is

BCD
A

50c a play. Do they ever put that thing on free?

Yah, this game is pretty much third strike all over again balance-wise at least in Japan. Except it has some weird matchups because some of the low tier fair well against specific characters in the top 3.

Shit, I might even pick up Carl cuz this motherfucker has some sick stuff in his arsenal.

I was thinking of playing Arakune as my tourney character and Tager for casuals.
Again I’m thinking about the mechanics and not the designs. Arakune looks like a crazy zoner with bugs. Talk about corner traps. And Tager is a huge fucking magnet or something.

LOL. I don’t even know what that thing is on Bang’s back. I figured it was a cannon but…

It’s a nail. No i’m not shitting you, it’s a giant nail. He impales you with it in his astral.

Well that’s Guilty Gear inspired characters for ya. Not surprised by anything Arc Systems does. Could have been a big brown paper bag or something.

So Arakune is Mr.Hanky’s first fighting game appearance?

After reading this, I feel a lot better about choosing to stick with Rachel.
I WILL DO IT!

I’ll still mess around with noel though

LOL good shit.

LoL, well if you hate driving then my place is Not for you, haha. I live in WOodbridge VA. Which, from Silver Spring is about an hour and some minutes away. But if (and when) you come you can drink whatever you want…just bring enough for me too!

I can kind of see where you are going, but I would like to think of him more like Shun-Di from VF. Shun is okay at the start, but left with time, he can open options that do HUGE damage later on.
When you start the round, you have to zone and counter till you get enough Gem-Meter for a good solid combo. The play of Hakumen comes from the options of specials that can be thrown into the combo.
Do you combo ground? Do you go Air? Counter combo?!..he’s got (deadly!!!) options, but you need to really pre-plan and play very methodical. Must know what you need to do and have the execution down pat, see the opportunity, and strike ‘fast’ when it comes about.

Granted this comes from Day-One hakumen so take it with a grain of salt…:bgrin:

LoL, yeah okay, tell that to MattComa…

Personally I think all of the characters are playable. On a personal level I think all the characters are good and competitive. This is coming from the guy who used Ibuki in 3S tourneys so I know what it means to be good with a character that has many characters statistically better than. I’ve seen match vids of people beasting with just about every character in the game. The only character that I see get beat horribly sometimes is Tager but even then he just needs to get the opponent to slip and his super takes away all their life. I’ve seen Heart Nana beast Japanese players so I already know Noel can be good.

Just when it comes down to tiers I wouldn’t call Noel good anymore. Okay is probably the best word I would use for her tier wise. Noel is usually placed towards the lower half of the tier list. You’re going to work hard for your wins with Noel that’s all I’m saying. Just like someone will work hard for their wins majorily with Ragna, Hakumen, Taokaka, Bang etc. Generally characters like “The Zoners”, Litchi, Jin and Carl are towards the upper half of the tier list and are tier wise are better to call the “good” characters of the game. Characters that will have you consistently doing well in tourneys once you put time into them.

Above all of that though it’s up to the player to make a character good.

hey man, woodbridge is closer than MD. I work in springfield anyway so…

went over and bought it. still haven’t opened it though. better be fkin amazing

ragna is awesome, I love his style and flashiness.
