Lik-Sang was shut down after losing an infringement case against Sony. The court said what Lik-Sang was doing infringed on Sony’s copyrights, trademarks, and rights of distribution, so Lik-Sang would have been barred from exporting to the UK, but that isn’t what shut the whole company down. The thing is, in the UK the loser of a lawsuit has to pay not only their legal fees but the fees of the winner and the court fees, which in this case was a gigantic sum of money, more money than Lik-Sang could pay and stay alive. Tney’re dead now, no more Lik-Sang. This is awful news for the importation of goods, globalization and trade, and the state of intellectual property rights in the UK front; this will probably have a chilling effect on importing/exporting technologies throughout Europe, and some people who would otherwise do those things probably won’t now. Which means that no, there’s not always Play Asia. Play Asia would have to be retarded to keep exporting things to the UK and the other European Union countries with similar intellectual property law, and the threat of a lawsuit from Sony in the US, even if Sony probably wouldn’t win, could be enough to keep imports from coming here.

Yo this TGA shit is gonna be a long ass drive. Like nearly 10 hours long just to get there (unless Hav drives like a maniac). Havoc, what day are you planning to head out? I get off a little after 4 next Friday so you could pick me up and we could go from there. Hopefully we can cover most of the driving hours on Friday and find somewhere to stay until Sat. Things are supposed to kick off at 12 but you know how tournaments are. As long as we get back Sunday night.

BTW I already am in talks with Shodokan123 (XBL player from RI) who is hookin us up with a place to stay. Granted that he’s still awake like 1 or 2 in the morning when we finally arrive, lol.

Basically, Lik Sang sold import PSPs to UK residents before they weren’t officially available in UK stores, which was technically illegal. The law backed Sony, Lik Sang would’ve had to have paid a bunch of money that they couldn’t afford, so they shut down.

This is shitty news, because this could affect how other companies deal with importing and exporting to and from the UK in a bad way. This also means people who live in the UK quite possibly won’t be able to get <blank> from other countries that already have <blank> in the future or near future.
