Max Payne 3: health regen is for pussies

finished it this afternoon.

It’s nice to hear MP3 is on par with the others, definitely a high priority title in my huge backlog.

It’s fun, and pretty challenging in parts. Great atmosphere, environments, set pieces. The online’s not bad, though I’ve never really found Rockstar mp to be as in depth as, say, games build almost exclusively for online.

All I’m sayin is don’t let the Hawaiian shirt fool you. Max ain’t on vacation.

yeah, this game was pretty dope.

excellent voice acting. excellent cinematography. solid mechanics. really good game

if i had to find something wrong with it, i’d say the story gets a little too jumbled for my taste. it makes sense i guess, but i didnt really care about 2 of the 3 guys you go after in the games later stages. i dunno, maybe too many bad guy “bosses” got added in.

also, the game doesnt really do anything “new”. it’s like they just perfected all the aspects of the older games(graphics, controls, camera, etc). not necessarily a bad thing tho. just felt a touch too familiar.

for example, the last level gave me a pretty good “fuck yeah” kinda feeling when the track from the commercial started playing. i felt like the game could have had more of those “fuck yeah” moments

i’d give it a 9/10

Max Payne is great, the soundtrack gets really intense some parts, especially when you going through that police station I was like damn my blood is boiling.

Game is awesome. Anyone overlooking it because it’s not in NY is a fool.

9/10

waiting for a complete edition.

oh man the part in the police station where youre trying to take out that albino motherfucker and for some reason after the roof collapses on him it puts you OUT OF YOUR COVER FOR NO REASON to be shot up made me rage super hard.

The game is awesome! Finally strategic bullet time came back similar to the first one. Game is kinda hard but Payne is one tough son of a bitch.

I hated that i was yellin muthafucker!!! I was in a good spot 3 pain killers, next thing I know Im auto-dead.

I beat this game a little while ago. Damn was it fun. I think… yeah, I’m pretty sure this game is now on my top 3 of favorite shooters ever. I kinda feel bad about not playing (or caring about) MP1 or 2 back when they were in their primes but if they’re as fun as Max Payne 3 I gotta say I’ve been missing out.

You really are. I still like the first one best. The sequels lack the camp humor and i think the dialogue flowed best in that one. Still an amazing series the whole way through.

1st was the best but had three of the worse levels, fuck those blood trails and the wailing. Shit haunted my dreams.

I loved those levels.

That, the twin peaks reference and captain baseball bat boy disturbed me and of course Sam Lake’s constipated face lol. I love playing a game where you have to tough it out with the difficulty. Can’t complain with that. This made max payne 3 for me one of the great games on my list.

I haven’t played it yet but I really want to now. It’s just that every single game now involves shooting. I’m getting tired of that… I also tire of the “cinematic,” approach games are taking today. Like, I really don’t wanna pay $60 for a 5-hour movie. (Luckily, I only paid $9 for MGS4… I must say, the game itself ain’t bad but it replaced a lot of potential gameplay with cut scene).
Also, THE FUCKING BLOOD TRAILS -__-… That guy was spot on. Those 2 levels creeped me the fuck out.
I think I know why I’m having unsureness towards this game now: I miss platforming elements in games. I miss that element of gaming and has noticed my library shifting from the blockbuster titles to those that provide a platforming experience… Strange to be so archaic in modern times yet so much fun… Still haven’t beaten Super Meat Boy…
Note: Friday was a good day to own TTWO stock… It’s gonna be a hell of a year for my portfolio… I hope.

I just came in to say that Max Payne 3 is in the running to be my favorite game this year. It has a lot of rough around the edges problems (cut-scene placement issues, cut-scene triggers, having to switch back to your two handed weapon after certain cut-scenes) but the story is mature (not violent for the sake of being violent), and the characters sort of interesting, and the graphics very sharp with a slick style to it all.

But most of all the gunplay is some of the best this generation. I can’t even properly describe what makes it so great but it is. Maybe it’s the animations that make everything feel like it has weight. Maybe it’s the return of shot dodging and bullet time and pills. Maybe it’s how gritty everything is.

I think though that it’s really just that you feel like you’ve earned your survival after every battle. I never feel like the game is letting me just stroll along. Headshots aren’t chosen because it’s a fancy 1-hit kill. Oh no. You aim for the head because it’s the last thing separating you from an early grave. Fuck Yeah Rockstar

*Can someone hook a brother up with the soundtrack? *That airport terminal scene in the last chapter with that song that plays just pushed this game over the edge for me. That’s how you make a cinematic game!

There being 0 aim assist really helps in making those head shots feel extra rewarding Furry.
