Im afraid your footsies were at fault. You gave up position too often by backdashing/slashing yourself either to a fullscreen distance or into the corner. Why did you do this? By backdashing to evade low attacks you sometimes got yourself more into trouble than you would have had by simply taking the damage and remaining sturdy.
Also, your pressure game wasn’t on point that day and he got away with jumping too much. Your defense was great though.
regarding SSFIV
Is there any chance that df heavy kick can be combo with his new ultra??
@Jozhear- I dont think it was your def as much as your lack of offense that cost you those matches. Some things though was purely cause of vega’s dumb faults like not hitting that ex ST cause the fireball invincibility didn’t last more than 4 frames, which cost you that round. I think your anti air could of been better too. You did good though.
That’s a shame, man. You can improve your Vega game so much by picking up other characters. Try learning a bit of Zangief and see if that doesn’t help your throw game, or Ken and your mix-up game.
low :lp: to FBA for corner escape, Joz. It works and makes the opponent think about his offense when you’re cornered (i.e. avoid being put in a situation where you can get a blocked jab off). And dash/slide under some of those corner jumps.
yeah,
i was fishing for the ex st way too much
and wtf every time i use st as an AA it just goes UNDER guile, like nowhere near him
and IDK i still have some bad habits to iron out i guess. it was pissing me off when i kept letting him jump in on me in the corner. its true that i always ended up in the corner on my own fault. that’s where i would lose every round. and idk i was using barcelona too much. should have been paying more attnetion.
i was waiting for your next geom set.
ok so the main things i noticed.
1.you let him jump in on you a whole lot of times between block strings.if you feel he’s getting the better of your mind its always better to mix things up a bit by using neutral jumps between his block strings, sliding past etc.make note that vega’s neutral jump has tools to beat everything that a jump forward guile has to offer.
2.you didnt have the confidence to go for the izuna drops on wake up.
3.where where your lk pressure shenanigans?
overall you couldve beat him.honestly.you sort of kept moving back to the corner treating guile like zangief, you where being too defensive!
jozhear vs navid:
as Piakchu would say, “|<1|| j00 1|| TEH $T4337$!!!11”
nice double perfect.
edit: also, when geom is jumping in on you in the corner, can you use c.hk to slide under and not get punished?
how interesting…
ya i can use slide to go under guile
i just wasn’t ;____; i suck.
I know right? In all this time I never though of hit confirming a close sweep with a mk, I just was using sweep at safe on block distances.
Also good to see you back!
thx
and how has all that worked for u in gameplay?
another match vid, please note the hit confirm into c. fierce =D
at the backflip at the end of the 1st round
and i thought i was da only one who used cr. fierce in certain combo enders
^ i’m trying to use c. fierce more, when I can’t combo into other stuff. it’s so good as part of the kara throw game like i was doing there, do the st. lk, if block, kara throw or cosmic heel to punish crouch tech, or if on hit, one more st. lk to hit confirm into c. fierce. damage where you’d never expect to find it. i keep telling everyone this lol but no one seems to be down with it.
And yeah I made some mistakes. Both times I FADC’d out of RCF to combo I botched it. Also did EX FBA instead of EX ST once ^____^ i’m always pretty jittery at tournaments
I use cr fierce quite a bit as well, I actually prefer it to st RH for combo enders. On characters like Ryu where mp>ex FBA won’t connect after a close fierce, I use cr fierce instead.
It’s also great to link after a cr. mk, or st lk. Lately I’ve been trying to land cr mk > st lk > cr fierce in matches and have actually been pretty successful. I’ll have to try lk, lk, cr fierce more as Joz said since it’s a good way to confirm. It’s a shame so many of his worthwhile combos contain 1 fr links, autoguard dp mashing in SF4 really discourages people from being technical

Rambo is really good. Stellar safe- and neutraljumps paired with decent defense. Also, note how often he pushes LYBXA into the corner with cl.hp.
Great comeback against Kuzuga in round 2.
Kubiwa may have lost his master ranking but as usual …goddamn. Just watch this guy’s spacing. It’s perfect - the way he pokes and grabs. His kara throws hit at maximum range, just where they should and when they should, each and every time!
Good fun in those matches, thanks sasaki!

brain fart at the end there
