Wow he actually landed cross-up FBA a few times
He did well, but you can tell that no one had ever seen a good vega before

He’s amazingly fun to watch, and i definitely learned a few awesome tricks from just watching him.
I love Vega, he’s now my main
Anyways, is YouTube working for anyone? I’d like to see his poonage
Exactly. Not to take anything away from anyone but Hoy did so much unsafe stuff and got away with it probably because good Vega’s are hard to come by and most players don’t see him much. If I do a FBA and I miss the Izuna, usually the slash gets focused and I eat a combo or grab, and when I backflip, my opponents usually punish me the second I come out of it but I figure it’s because the people I play with consistently are beginning to understand how Vega works. Regardless, the matches are still fun to watch, props to Hoy.
Good to see him doing well with Vega. Love watching some great claw action. It does seem that his opponents didn’t quite know how to deal with a good Vega (lots of crossup SHC’s) but shit, that’s what you get for only practicing vs Ryu and Sagat.

JR Rodriguez vs a really scrubby Vega player =D
(Second link is much better for Vega, just in case you choose to skip it because of the 1st lol)
I didn’t realize it was you until the second video, which then made me angry that it can only mean that it was you in the first video. Were you asleep or something during the first video? Were you in shock and awe of the unbelievably predictable rushdown?! Were you awe inspired by his butterfly rope thingy?! These are questions that need to be answered! :arazz:
What did you dooooooooooooooo
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz
LOL I didn’t find it so predictable. He likes to crossup with the demon flip a lot, so when he doesn’t, it hurts. JR is freakin’ legendary status in my heart.
We played way more matches than these, and these LOOK predictable, but it’s usually so unpredictable, that the obvious just caught me dumbfounded. =P
Just an FYI, he beat me 8/13 matches.
Don’t diss my favorite SF player of all time, brah.
Playing Vega is unsafe imo. If you concentrate to much on defense with Vega then you have already lost. I just keep moving and that is usually my defense. I like his strategy to keep trying to catch the Sagat off guard its the best chance he has. Besides what are you going to do save that EX meter for his super
I will now cease ball busting. Akuma is a bitch and a half, and his just looked weird and confusing. But come on…you hit him three times and he’s at half health. The only reason he beat you a few times was because he landed his stupid ultra
Yea, I’m biased against Akuma…so what?
Oh yea: Did you really open with a roll to super in a match? LMAO. That was great. He should have let it hit because it was so wonderful
I, personally, think you should have beat him more than five times. I’ve seen you play, and it looked like you were having an off day
Last time I fought him before this set, was about 2 months ago, and he beat me 12 to 1 back then
It may look random and inconsistent, but he really knows what he’s doing.
He’s good at reacting, and I used that too my advantage by making him super, thinking I was gonna try to grab him. >=D
Thanks for the compliments though, much appreciated. <3
Yes homo
BTW, check your message box.
No homo, this time. lol
Oh yeah guys, so how about that sweep to counter air fireballs?
Is doing RCF on people’s wake up a good idea or something? A lot of these vids have them doing that. Though I admit I love doing an HP RCF and ultra right after, isn’t it punishable by a lot of things if done like that on wake up?
It beats everything but shoryu (and stuff like it), pretty much.
Again, it’s about predicting, in this case, that they won’t do an upper.
Akuma is a bitch, indeed.
I have huge problems vs him, both with gouken and with vega.
If he is crouching, walldive-izuma drop misses for sure, and i can’t c.mk walldive too… and if he is crouching while hit (trying to do c.lp or c.lk to poke you, but you hit them), even Scarlet Terror misses sometimes, only EX Scarlet Terror works for sure.
His d.HP beats barcelona really easy, fast, and without any skill. Ex barcelona can trade, but never win… You only hit him in a side just to the point where my open claw arm will hit him from the side and max range, but it is sooooooooo dificult to do
If he manages to jump and i can’t jump before he reaches the top, his air-hadoukens shuts down my anti air… and if i go kkk or ppp to dodge (sometimes kkk can’t dodge the 2 ex air hadoukens and only ppp will) he even sometimes manages to land and sweep me on my recovery
FA is risky because of his double kick into combo, and when he is below 50% life and has ultra, FA is forbidden.
While he has ultra, Sky High claw is forbidden unless EX… and our ultra, if blocked…
Akuma simply shuts down a lot of vega’s stuff, too easy.
We can outpoke him, and we can deal damage with well played fotsies and jumps, but once he is below 50% life it is hard as hell to do finish him.
I really don’t know how to play vs him, besides going back to the basics, and in the “street fighter dojo” the only vega vs akuma videos are almost akuma ownage
By the way, in the second vid, 4:56, late df.HK vs a wakeup akuma ultra WAS AWESOME. I will use this into my game, because i know (and akuma knows too) that if you do df.HK a little earlier than that akuma will hit.
Yes,it is. Ppl just can’t resist. Because that’s how they roll. snap!
I’m doing it myself everytime, and everytime i get knocked down, cos i never learn.
ElMoucho, I gave Zero some basic Akuma pointers. I’ll post them in the matchup thread later, after I get pizza.
Nothign revolutionary, but you can see what the matchup is like, generally.
Akuma does air fireball, Vega does d.rh
It will either put you in position or hit him for mix-ups.

A new video uploaded by JR <3
The second reset was by accident =P
-edit-
I asked for some matches of my LOSING, so we can learn about the matchup better.
He graciously accepted. These are from the first few matches, I believe, so take it with a grain of salt, but you can learn some stuff from it, like what NOT to do, and what to watch out for.
(Don’t hurt me please)

Shout outs to JR for being a cool guy and uploading these for me.
Very nice Vega, Rizhall.
Do you use stick or pad?
Buy a PS3 NAO!!
