Matador Video Thread

It’'s very hard if you see ‘‘counter hit’’ and then press Cr.MK, it will be too late
In order to do this, of course you have to build a habbit of doing double Cr.Mk

Also, with cr mk coming out in 6 frames there often is not enough charge time for EX FBA after cr mp, especially with this great, fast play style. Boy or Girl, I love you Brokken G!.

The only vega i have seen nailing the ex.fba consistently after cr.mk>cr.mp without prior charge is cat-k,he seems to know exactly to cancel the cr.mp at the last possible frame to have enough time to charge.About brokkeng he played really well and keep in mind that T srai is one of the best blankas in the world.
Watch this video of him ;p

Dash forward>cr.MK>cr.MP>EX FBA always works, if you start charging immediately after inputting the dash.

I knew the vid, it’s just amazing how he can hit confirm into super into the blink of an eye. ^^

BrokkenG is an excellent Claw, far better than I am, but I think he’s not comfortable with the match-up. I discussed with Vegaman about it, and avoiding to jump and pushing Blanka into the corner seemed crucial for the win. Makoto0124 played the match-up very differently, and IMO more efficiently.

Right, plus at okizeme you can slighly buffer it when inputing the cMK.

To me canceling is not that hard, it’s NOT cancelling on block which is hard. I have trouble with hitconfirms =D

I’ve fought Id jujun95 sometimes, with a friend of mine, and I can tell :

— He does not main Claw, or don’t bothered learning his strategies like corpse-hop, safe-jumps & others setups. All I saw there were jump-ins and fullscreen izunas/SHC. He plays like a C ranked Vega…
— Each time we’ve defeated him (and that was each time we met him I think), we had an hatemail. And i had to translate french insults into english 'cause there were some my friend didn’t understood.
— And third, we both do not understand how could he get so much BP/PP with his level of play and his reactions to defeat

=o

i from now on will refer to you as Trias the instigator

Then you know what, I fought a guy called VegaFabioLaCerda sometimes, with a friend of mine, and I can tell :

[details=Spoiler]Well, this is confidential, I don’t know if I should really tell the truth about him just like that without salty preparation with mass audience listening. But :

— He worn rose socks
— He had a mickey tatoo
— Rumor is he bought SFxT

Trias the instigator, a man on the mission. =D[/details]

Beautiful play from Uenis, really. A bit too much jumps attemps after blocking, but swift defence and setups here. Just nice !

yeah… i wonder who that guy on eventhubs coulda been…

You’re wondering too, eh ?

Well, actually his whole existence is ruled by secrecy since Walt Disney pictures attempted to put him on trial for copyright violation. He would kinda send his Mickey tatoo print into T-shirts worldwide to other very selected underground contacts. So I doubt you would ever be able to meet him face to face… aside of mirror matches maybe.

Only thing for sure : it was fun arguing with him on EH.

I’ve met a lotta Vega players, I’m sure i’ll run into this guy at evo.

good thing you didnt start most of those arguments then lol

Went to Starbase Arcade for a small tourney this past Wednesday and got second. Matches start at 4:13:00 against Hoodaman (Honda), Ramin (Abel), Makara (Dictator). 4:42:00 against SBA Harrison (Cody) and Hoodaman in grand finals. I’m really having trouble against Honda. Seems to be my worst matchup for me personally even though I think the matchup is 5-5 for the most part, but the hands pressure really gets to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good Lord, no help on Honda (aside from focus that Honda Bottom Slam on it’s way down - nothing new there; and too many buttons pressed in round one - something you caught yourself) but that Abel match was beautiful! Is that crossup char-specific or universal? This might eve be worth droping the ST after CH from time to time…

Edit: Man I should have watched the whole thing - That Bison-stomp punish - I think I tasted the rainbow…

Yea, I HARDLY beat my local Honda here in St.Pete. The only thing I can tell you that if you have the life lead… TURTLE… (which I personally am no fan of)

I’ve not mastered that match-up yet too, but I have a good Honda in my contacts. If we gather our tips maybe we could get something interesting :

— Jump-ins : IMO you jumped way too much on him. It’s true E.Honda hasn’t good aa, but his air to air are excellent (his njHP hastremedous priority). Therefore I think you should not disrespect a good Honda until he is knocked down. That put aside, you tried a lot of escapes by back-jumping, and he figured that out too => catched everytime with buttslams.

— Okizeme : corpse-hops are great 'cause he would lose his charge and could not rely too much on reversals to counter them. I bjHP/cLK them a lot after izuna’s corpse-hop for example. Some EX Izuna cross-ups setups would work against him (check wwmajin’s topic, it is very well done). Safe-jumps are a good option too, though handling oichos at wake-up could be uneasy (still oicho have no invincibility and have 5 frames startup, could be frame-trapped)

— HHS : horrible recovery time on whiff. I do remember having backdashed some of them (fearing an oicho throw), and then I think it would be punishable by cMP/cMK/cHK and possibly by jump-in. Dunno if then can OS them with a sweep.

— Buttslam : my best results against them is on whiff. Therefore dashing/backdashing under them helps, and focuses work as well as BushidoHeat said.

You probably know all of this and more. ln fact, I think you could have won by jumping foward/backwards a little less until okizeme.

Can’t help with Honda (uhhh…bachdash buttslams? Maybe crouch medium kick under his NJ fierce?), sorry.

When your catching dictator with the airthrows off the foot stomp, are you jumping forward, backwards or straight up?

Edit: Actually, if you ever see Honda do hands FADC, always hold up back. Beats all his options.

Actually, buttslams are slightly negative so on block most of Hondas go towards defensive options like teching/throwing or going into another invincible move (to beat throws attempts). So backdashing is a good way to handle it IMO, 'cause their little game won’t work anymore. I think dashing forwards would make their move whiff as well, but it’s gutsy. =D

Same for HHS, backdashing and whiff punish IMO. =)

Nice tips, Korbidon. =)

Great play from Uenis, at 13:22 and 23.00. No mindblowing setups, but just good execution and wise setups. Worth the watch. =)
