Matador Video Thread

Good stuff in that match meteo.

Word of advice, when a Ken , or anyone with a good kara throw is walking out of your cr.lk range just to throw you when you crouch tech , start teching with cr.mp or cr.mk to make sure they can’t walk out of range.

great advice chuck, that’s something I didn’t consider enough and should practice. (yet another reason i love the vega forums!)

One of the best Claw players I’ve ever seen:

For sure.

anyone here has links to footage from top worldclass AE vegas ?

Here’s some of my matches from our attempt at wednesday night fights here in Chicago, Vegaman already has been so gracious to help critique me, so I’ll toss these up here and maybe you guys could help me out as well.

Looked like he tried to FA the last hit of Yuns ultra in round1, that or he didn’t know when it ended

He’s got some really good spacing. Either that or that Yun doesn’t know CH is not that great anymore.

There’s more videos of that guy on YT. What a weird playstyle. He somehow uses unorthodox defense methods, probably to make up for Vegas weakness in that department.

  • He constantly uses backdash into kara throw as a means to turn around the pace aka get from defense into offense. Makoto has used this from time to time, but NicoNicoTenshi seems to abuse this to no end. It’s also his number one option after a blocked df.HK.
  • His kara throw fake twitch into df.HK is perfect.
  • He uses the oldschool corpsehop bullshit. I guess he thinks it’s more viable now, since Vega’s cr.MK is faster.
  • Cr.MP into HP Roll for frame traps. Also catches backdashes with this.
  • I’ve never seen the guy get thrown once.
  • He even throws Gief (Zangitan!) Repeatedly.
  • Okay, now this is retarded shit right here. In the Adon matchup, he’s throwing out cr.MP whenever he expects a jaguar kick. This will result in a trade that pushes Adon far away from Vega.

Nice analysis Sasaki, especially the Adon thing! That twitch into CH is amazing. I normally try that but with too many steps… never works.

Casual match at my local arcade, T Hawk vs Claw

The claw player is actually pretty good, I guess he was just having an off day. Oh and no BP/name because the card system glitched for a moment and cards werent usable (only happened for that one match)

Does anyone has any links to the EVO2011 matches of makoto’s or tatsu’s vega? Or any other vega? I cant seems to find them anywhere.

nope

Reiketsu’s streamed match from yesterday, I liked that cl.mp frame trap into mp RCF.

I know Jozhear had at least one match on stream, I watched it, dunno about Tatsu or Makoto.

Probably the worst Vega you’ll ever see.

Why the are you using cr.LK? Especially after a neutral jump or after an overhead cr.LP would make much more sense (and couple of other normals too). I see that it’s a good tick throwing tool, but cr.LP is fine as well and leads into combos :'D

Against Bison, you need to meet him air-to-air more often and stop his jump ins with j.mp, j.hp and airthrow. Make Bison understand that you control the air in this match. His jump speed is awfully slow, as opposed to Vega’s which is quite fast. You can counter most jump-ins from Bison on reaction rather easily. Punish cross-up psycho-crushers on block with a reversal EX FBA every time, you need to get him to cut that cute shit out. Oh, and I feel you did cr.mp into EX FBA too liberally from what I saw. You should hit confirm into EX FBA and try to avoid just hoping that your crouching strong connected. You ended up wasting alot of meter this way. I know it’s not much, but that’s my advice. I believe that Vega has the edge in this matchup, though it’s certainly not easy. Overall, you did relatively well though, I think. It was obvious you were kind of nervous, but then again you were facing one of the better Bisons in America in a tournament setting, so it’s understandable.
