It’s like V-ism from Alpha 3. I mean sure you could probably figure out how to get them in a nice juggle string. You’ll be able to figure all that neat stuff out when you hit the lab. I believe that super is handy when you corner them because your after images will keep them locked down, and hey maybe you can cancel into an ultra after a hit =D. Pretty awesome stuff when you think about it.
You could end your super combo with an ultra, but I don’t even want to consider the damage scaling. xD;
Yeah it’s looking to me that in general some combination of EX moves and FADC is going to deal more damage than using it for super. Time will tell though. I know at first I’m going to be focusing on shit outside of the super combos but I’ll definitely have some of those tricks up my sleeve for times when it’s useful.
If you get full super, doing cr.mp dash [loop] in the corner is easy enough.
Just some combos for tomorrow:
Crouching Light Kick → Standing Light Punch → Crouching Medium Kick → Hard Punch Mantis Slash 199 Damage 323 Stun.
A combo from the 3 frame Crouching Light Kick. Since the Link into Standing Light Punch is tight, if you change it to the 4 frame Crouching Light Punch so you have more frame advantage and the combo is easier to do. Since it’s easier to do to wake-up attacks, if you change the the finishing Mantis Slashes to a Medium Kick Senkyuutai (Roll Kick), choose which to use based on the situation.
Flip Grab → Close Medium Punch → Hard Punch Mantis Slashes 195 Damage 246 Stun.
An example of a combo from Zenpou Tenshin (Flip Grab). Since both normal and EX put Yang at +7 on hit, you can combo into Crouching Medium Kick, Close Medium Kick, Close Hard Punch, and other moves.
Crouching Medium Kick → Hard Punch Mantis Slash (two hits) → Focus Attack Dash Cancel, → Ultra 1 439 Damage 190 Stun.
An example combo of connecting Ultra from an FADC. Of course, you can not only combo with Ultra 1, but Ultra 2 as well.
Never do c.mk into s.lp. S.LP will whiff on some crouchers, such as Blanka. Both standing and crouching jabs are 4F start up, so the timing is identical.
Never do cl.MP xx Rekkas after command grab. Learn to do cl.HP xx Rekkas instead, it does more damage.
S.mp, c.mk xx rekkas does more damage than that.
From what I tested, you can’t get that combo after command grab against certain characters. Close fierce has been the default combo.
So I hit up training mode with Yang and started doing combos that I wrote down from the videos I’ve seen
I can pretty much get the C. Mk xx mantis slashes or Senkyuttai, although I’ll miss my execution sometimes and teleport–gotta work on that.
I am however having a hard time connecting the Cr.Lk’s into mantis slashes any tips on BnB’s like that one? seems like the timing is fairly strict.
Dive kicking into cr. lp, lp, cr.mk xx mantis slahes is super easy, probably my favorite bnb so far.
I keep missing the FADC into ultra but A/A with U2 is super super easy especially on our brother’s dive kicks and NJs.
I do however have to say–and this is retarted–I had a guile at half screen do a sonic boom, I hit my ultra right when I heard “Sonic–” but Guile had enough time to recover and block–Fuck Guile, I still hate that bastard.
All in all I’ve only spent around an hour and a half playing as Yang exclusively the other hour was all Chun she confirmed to me that I still know how to play, lol.
First time ever playing with Yang and I feel pretty good with him.
Well, Guile’s projectiles recover quickly. That’s how it’s always been.
When you’re doing cr.mk xx rekkas and getting a dash instead, you’re probably negative edging your QCF (since QCF K is dash).
When you’re saying you’re struggling doing cr.lk xx rekka, I have a feeling you’re meaning cr.lk, cr.lk xx rekka. You’re probably chaining those cr.lks instead of linking them. You can’t combo rekkas out of chained (mashed) cr.lks, but you can out of linked cr.lks.
Oh okay, fair enough, I hadn’t tested it after a grab.
In the lab i found that far lp links to cr.hk. so a simple untechable knockdown combo would be: dive kick, cr.lp, cr.lp, s.lp, cr.hk.
This has been known for a while. I’m not sure that it’s particularly useful; Yang can’t really exploit untechable knockdowns.
Got some truth in that statement, bro.
Yang’s got some knockdowns that he has benefits off of, but he doesn’t get a free safe-jump off a sweep like Ryu.
Found this corner combo:
mp xx mp palm xx SE > lp mantis > mp palm > U2
Does around 505-510ish damage, not at home so don’t have exact number but its the largest I could come up with super and U2.
doing just hp mantis > U1/U2 is more consistent at any distance, say cr.mk xx mp palm distance, and does slightly lower damage around the 450-480 range.
1st combo is easy to do as well, only problem is shadow palms consistency depending on distance. Typically need to be in close mp range.
Good end game bnb if you have the meter. I’m still not comfortable doing SE loops yet, so i just rely on this.
Also as for my previous posts about st.lk > hp palm loops from bbs. Pretty sure it is debunked now that I got my hands on training mode.
I could do st.lk > mp palm > dash loop twice but that was still difficult. I tried naked hp palm and tried to every normal and none connected so SE not having juggle properties is confirmed. Dunno why that is still up on bbs, when it apparently doesn’t work or must have been fixed if it was an older arcade version.
Sure about that? Sweep recovers really fast, I don’t see why he can’t safejump stuff 5F or slower.
Of course it’s a no go vs shotos and Sagat, though.
Its impossible to combo after HP palm in seiei…always has been.
I might be a 5F reversal safe-jump, but I haven’t checked that much. I’m sure it’s not a 4F safe jump.
I’m not sure if anyone has noticed this yet, but for ex.rekkas you don’t have to do :qcf:+p x 5. You can just do :qcf:+p, p, :qcf:+p, p, :qcf:+p
yay negative edging???
anywho…
so it may have been the alcohol or marvel spoiling me but i can’t for the life of me seem to get the timing for mantis slash fadc. any tips :S
FADCing after the Second slash, especially fierce should give you enough time to dash and do anything you want.
I am not sure what further tips I can give…
Thinking out loud while I can’t test it.
If 2nd hp rekka FADC is +10 on block, you probably can just FA and get a crumple. Would do less damage, but those who are having trouble with the dash would be able to hit it.
