Sparky Jr PWM relieves this by separating the FTDI and VCC/GND lines. You can use the configuration tool to set you colors and such. We are going to be updating the configurator with new functionality on an ongoing basis. The new functionality will incorporate availability of effects. @purplearms also want to see the return of the Simon Game screen saver, LOL. Who know, if I have time I will try to come up with mini games like Simon, 2 row pacman, 2 row gradius / life force, 2 x 4 pong… …you will never need to use you stick to play actual fighting games… …unless I write a 2x4 version of street fighter!!!
hahahahahhahahahahahha LMFAO real hard…ok so then for the rainbow LED mod would it be a good idea to go ahead and get the Sparky Jr right now and wait for some new updates to be able to do that mod or go with the Master Strike?
You should be able to archive the same. My code for the MS (including the rainbow effect) is in the MS SVN repository.
So what exactly would i need to do? Would i have to get the Sparky Jr, Put the MS Programming on it, and add all the effects as well?
Sparky Jr is an LED controller. Mephisto hacked MS to make it a similar functioning LED controller. So you need to choose one or the other. The MS hack is a bit advanced (even for me), and since you’re just starting out, i would recommend learning how to program on Sparky Jr before you install it into a joystick.
With masterstrike you need to educate yourself on AVR programming, and get a USB ISP programmer. For Sparky Jr you need to program via FTDI (I am going to start learning this myself)
So, I am interested putting red and green LEDs inside of my guide / home button on my stick, and I want to make it so that when I plug the stick in, it will automatically change the guide buttons from green to red based on whether it’s booting up on an Xbox 360 or a PS3, respectively. I understand that the Master Strike is capable of pulling off something kind of like this, but I was wondering if there is an easier (and cheaper, lol) way of making this happen. I only plan on having the one illuminated button on my stick, and the PCBs I was planning to use are the Cthulhu MC, Imp 2.1, and a hacked common-ground Xbox 360 PCB. Would I even need any extra hardware to do pull off what I’m hoping to do, or is it something that I can pull off just by soldering somewhere on one of the aforementioned PCBs?
That wont be easy to pull off. Its gonna require a hack of the Imp, or a custom board with custom software written.
Yikes. That sounds a bit beyond my technical level. I suppose it would be easy on the Chimp SMD since it has indicator LEDs on the board itself which wires for LEDs could hypothetically be wired to, but then you unfortunately don’t get the legacy console compatibility.
