Hi Guys. About 3 months ago I put the game away for a while. Well I’m back now and just getting into the swing of things. Concentrating really hard on my fundamental play, and doing quite well. But I’m having an issue in training mode and I’d love some help to get it sorted.

Basically, I’m just working on 1 combo so far. Lp, lp, DP. And it comes out maybe 20% of the time?

The problem is for the life of me, I have no idea why the combo fails on DP. Sometimes it hits. Most times the character will just block, leaving me massively vulnerable.

This is what I’m hitting: LP+LK, LP, DF DF +HP+MK.

So I’m starting it as a tech or light hit, and trying to plink with MK at the end.

Obviously it’s a timing thing but what? I’m trying to link the first 2 hits because for me, they’ve never chained. If I try to chain them, the 2nd hit just doesn’t come out.

Damn this game would be a lot easier without the timing issue. If only pressing a button meant a move would come out, would be so easier!

Thanks for your help!

Ok i see nobody has answered this question. its a pretty simple issue you have. your either pressing your the last LP to fast OR your DP input is incorrect.( crouch DF,DWN,DF Punch or Standing Fwrd,DF Punch). so basically try to instead of pressing your light strings quickly back to back. try to tap one by one.( doesnt need to be super slow. just a tad bit slower) anytime you want your string to combo into special moves you need to LINK the last normal move. unless its the first attack. for example LP,H.DP works.

also i want to add that you dont need 2 plink your DP. prob making things harder on yourself. instead try pressing HP twice ( crouch LP+LK, LP, DF DW DF HP HP)

hope this helps sir

Thanks man. Appreciate it. How does hitting HP at the end help?

what only x pm means by pressing hp twice is essentially the same thing as P-linking, however i find double tap harder, by double tapping you are trying to press the button twice within 2 frames so if you press HP too fast the first time the second hp will work, However Freund von mir the problem doesn’t sound like the dragon itself…but more the timing of your lp into dragon from lk. here are the general rules of thumb:

if you press lk, lp, dragon but know dragon comes out but you get 2 hit combo…you DIDN’T link the lp to dragon and you need more of a gap between your lk and your lp

if you press the sequence and your dragon get’s blocked you are not cancelling the recovery frames of your LP into dragon AKA you input dragon too slow

i explain it all in this episode…(i think) if not then check episode 2

any question to me preferably leave it on my youtube video as i get a notification email if someone has commented…hope this helps

@sxio

Thanks dude!

Dont link the LPs, try to chain them, its imortant. As far as I know you cant plink special moves, you can only double tap them. So just press: df lk+lp, df lp (chain!), d, df hp

You can plink especials too, and it is better to chain normals and link specials.

cr.lp has a startup of 3 frames, same as hp.srk with 5 frames advantage.
so if you want to link cr.lp from another cr.lp you only have 3 frames, the same as srk.

I mean, it is the same doing a link to cr.lp or linking hp.srk, and at least for me, more dangerous because people could reversal you linking cr.lp, but srk has invencibility frames.

DId you actually read what I wrote?
It was exactly my suggestion…
Chain the normals and link the shoryuken, to have a true blockstring.
As far as I know, when you plink the shoryuken, you get the Ex version, so it doesnt work… But I might be wrong, have no time to test it

remember guys you can plink standing fierce with any of the kick buttons so i do kara shoryuken and use my medium kick as a plink for fierce

AAAhhh maaan, of course, you are right… thanks to clear this up
