MAS Systems Official Thread

Thanks Anthony now i understand what the fuss is about.

I can gather from using the arcades a fair bit some people mash like their is no tomorrow and would probably destroy a plastic frame.

Eh, Ive never see hardcore masher’s ive seen really rapid marvel players that really prefer MAS

So MAS Systems means Multi Arcade Systems Systems?
Laugh.

I thought another way to put it simply was that MAS has an american format, button layout wise?

lol…at least that’s what I thought it stood for…umm All your systems are belong to us?

Because someone will want to know… I just did a weigh in.

Here’s a bad photo of the height difference.

@ Kube Nice Mas sticks.

i just love the mas cases. best cases for american sticks.

Unfortunately, we will not be including the option for installing a Cthulhu/ChImp board. Our products would not be our own if we started using other boards. Also, when things go wrong, we won’t know what exactly is causing the issue. The reason we are able to provide full support to our customers is because we design the chips on our own, and we know exactly what is going on. However, what you do with the controller after it is yours is entirely up to you! Keep in mind though that if you choose to use a cthulhu board, we can no longer correct any issues that may occur as we are unfamiliar with the board. Thanks for your interest in MAS sticks!

A lot of people probably are curious about that. Thanks for helping out!

mas sticks are beast.
I had one quite a few years ago for dc and sold it when that system was phasing out.
the one stick I fully regret selling because of the bulk and quality of the case.

but yeah you guys should look into carrying those IL parts. much higher quality then what happ is stocking now, and preferred by a lot of the players here.

I have had a MAS for years. It was originally a PS1/Saturn stick and I modded it. http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=140279. Good pics though in that thread of the stick.

These are good people too, years ago the stick stopped working. I think on the PS1 side. I called MAS, this was a couple of years after I bought it. The guy just had me send it in and fixed it for free. If I remember right he added the analog button for free while he had it since the analog switch was not available when I bought mine. All I paid was the ship to. It was probably just a wire got loose but at the time I knew nothing about sticks. Like I said, nice people.

Ruined the mas-stick, I don’t get why you’d do that! :O, Unno the new button’s on the other one doesn’t look right and art isn’t layed all that great or maybe it’s just starting to wear out cause of playtime but the rightside ridge looks faded, the whole art looks fading you might want to invest in a plexi for the MAS, PS2 Mod however and wireless is quite impressive and xbox360 dual mod and what not.

If you buy a PS3 MAS can you take out the converter for PS2 play or is the converter inside of the case?

Can you explain what exactly you mean by “PIC” when you refer to the PCB’s in your products, please? While I can do some modding (pad-hacking, component replacement, etc…) I do not understand why your controllers nolonger use PCB’s. I have two of your products currently. The first one I purchased back in 2001-02 for PS1/2 and Dreamcast. This unit has a traditional PCB inside. The second is strictly a PS1/2 controller with a P360 handle. No PCB inside - just what appears to be a single black chip perhaps an inch long the size of a fingertip.

And why exactly is the process to create an xBox 360 version so much different than say the PS2/3 version? (again, I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to be considered a real modding pro).

Regarding custom artwork - what sort of artwork is allowed for you to print upon a controller? For example I have a nice hi-res SSF4 desktop wallpaper of Ryu that I would like to use that I obtained from Capcom’s U.S. website… is that allowed? Is fan-art allowed of your favorite copyrighted material or does it strictly have to be art created by yourself or a thirdparty that is not copyrighted?

And lastly - what sort of adapter do you use to convert the PS2 to PS3 (internal or external add-on?) … is it or can it be considered lag free? Many PS2 to PS3 adapters allow you only to use your PS2 controller on a PS3 to strictly play PS3 and only PS3 games. Will your adapter work on a PS3 while playing PS1 and PS2 games?

Thank-you.

Great to see MAS here. I bought a DC stick back in 02 from you guys.

However, EvilSamurai is incorrect. It’s a common misconception around here that IL>Happs. It’s not true. For more detailed info check out RandyT’s posts on BYOAC on the subject.

The new microswitches are also just as good as Cherries, imo.

Sorry for the derail.

What about SuperGuns?

And are you planning on paying for www.massystems.com anytime? Its unavailable due to “billing issues”.

This is great. I’ve always wanted to own a MAS stick. We’ll be in touch shortly!

I took it with a camera, it does have plexi. Thats why it looks that way I guess. It does not appear faded in person. That thing is a tank. My old artwork started to peel, they use a decal and it was coming apart from age. The new button is my guide button placed at the bottom so my kids dont turn the Xbox on all the time from screwing with the buttons.

PIC stands for Programmable Interface Controller from Microchip Technology.
Well the acronym now stands for Programmable Intelligent Computer.

It is the black chip you see inside your Case.

The adaptor is external and can be removed at any time if you feel like playing your PS2. The adaptor can also be put back on if you feel like going back to your PS3. Hope that helps!

The ?PIC? is the chip that you see in your PS1/2 controller. We have now done the same thing for the Dreamcast, no more PCB?s.

I?m unaware of the exact workings behind it, as I?m not the engineer, but what I do know is that it?s just a lot more labor intensive. If you?d like to find out more, you can try calling in and finding out yourself, however the engineer is really busy at the moment and you may not be able to get through. Sorry I couldn?t be of more assistance.

We don?t have permission to use anything Capcom related. So I think it?s safe to say that it wouldn?t be a good idea for us to print up something copyrighted for you (but you can always do it yourself). However, fan-art definitely sounds like a much better idea, so long as the artist is okay with others using it. Art created by yourself or a third-party that isn?t copyrighted would definitely be the safest way to go.

We use an external add-on, and so far we?ve had no complaints (we?ve been selling PS3 controllers for quite a while). Also, our engineer does test each and every controller before we ship them (yes, they can be considered lag free). You simply remove it or place it back on. If you would like to play PS3 games, just leave the adaptor on, and if you?d like to play PS2 games, just remove the adaptor. The PS2 controller also works with PS1.

The SuperGuns are still around; we now call those SuperNovas. I?m not the one that handles the website, and it?s not really one of our top priorities at the moment either. I understand it?s nice to have a website to look at, but with all the orders we receive, we?d much rather get those out as soon as possible instead.

I hope I answered all of your questions. Thanks for asking!
