Oh, all i know is rosario and the lawyer, but you know what im saying. Like punisher, jj, elektra, dd, iron fist, etc… didnt make any cameos to bring like a mid season hype or anything. I was honestly waiting for iron fist to show up once.
All the hammer tech drops were dope as fuck. I truly didnt expect that.
Diamondbacks suit looked pretty stupid, that aside, excellent villain. [details=Spoiler]And he ain’t dead, so he may show up again in the future with legit superpowers[/details]
The main heroes ain’t meeting each other until the Defenders. They ain’t the characters to look for. It’s guys like Turk that will be making cameos. Minor characters that tie stories and people together.
This nigga Diamondback wins the savage of the year award. Dude was throwing out a lot of good burns and eccentric monologues, and his “murderizing” skills were entertaining too. The gun trick was what really sold me on him. Though to be honest, watching a crime boss uncaringly kill a henchman(especially if it’s something insignificant) always makes me like them a bit more…
Spoiler
His introduction was a bit clunky, but everything after that was solid. I love how they were roasting his super suit at the end.
God, I wish I could have had a season of The Wire with Mahershala Ali as the big bad. Cottonmouth was so damn good, I liked him better than Fisk and Kilgrave. That laugh, perfect crime boss laugh, just the right amount of arrogance and fearlessness, a bit booming too.
[details=Spoiler] I really did hate how ineffective he was at fighting Luke though. He was absolutely handling any threats that came to him, racked up some bodies and everything, and didn’t get shook once. But the only time he had Luke by the balls was when he found the dirt on his past, and then he died in I think that same episode.

Black Mariah was fantastic too.
Spoiler
Usually a character like that is turned ruthless by something or someone, tricked or disillusioned, but not her. She had that shit deep inside her and every one of underground dudes he looked at her could see it. Most she had was a little help and advising.
I would have loved more flashbacks to the Mama Mabel era though, that entire sequence seemed really cool and interesting. Always fun to watch a monster make a monster(or two in this case).
Been a while since I seen kid/teenage representations for character look so much like who they’re supposed to be(not counting relative actors) since young Pop and young Diamondback, it was kind of weird.
I think it’s well established that Turk and Claire have some stupid plot-armor.
Claire is more likely to die though, because she’s such a beloved fan favorite and has played a part in 3 different series so far. It’d be the easiest and most effective gut punch they could go for.
I’m ready to get a bunch of disagrees and hate but…I didn’t really enjoy Luke Cage the way I thought I would. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a GREAT celebration of Harlem and Black Culture and for that alone it gets my respect but I never really felt invested in the story. I never really felt on edge with anything or motivated to immediately move forward in the story.
[details=Spoiler]I think a lot had to do with the lack of a true ultimate Big Bad. Cottonmouth was definitely a joy and was sadly peaced out too soon…but at the same time was never actually presented as a threat to Luke which hurt. Diamondback was definitely an unhinged presence…but ironically enough I think he was hurt by being around Luke. When actually doing things separate from him when it came to the criminal underground he was fantastic. Sinister, terrifying yet with enough charisma you would want to follow him anyway. But he just seemed way too bitchmade about his past with Luke and it took some bite out of him when it mattered most. Mariah never really got the chance to step up into a true superior villain presence, hopefully that can be rectified.
Honestly Shades was probably my favorite out of all of them, he didn’t take shit from absolutely anyone. Good intelligence and the ability to flip the script whenever necessary and he could earn the respect of anyone. Good henchmen are so hard to find and he’s definitely top echelon lieutenant.
Hell you could argue that Justin Hammer was actually the biggest villain of the series without being seen due to all the HammerTech being used to fuck up Luke’s day. He may not be Stark but the man knows weapons.
But…man after Cottonmouth got unceremoniously killed it felt like some of the air left the show and then most of the conflict came from a lot of really stupid decisions on all sides. It really did feel like a drag towards the back half of the season, not unlike JJ. I’m starting to feel that these Netflix seasons might actually need to lower the episode count or at least be willing to modify them to suit the purposes of each storyline rather than constantly try to fit things within 13 episodes. Both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage could’ve used a tighter run (both Daredevil seasons seemed to escape that issue).
There was a lot of good here…but I didn’t feel anything truly GREAT outside of Luke Cage himself and even then…idk. I don’t think there was anything that matched the presence that Kingpin, Kilgrave and Punisher provided for their seasons. Luke was coolness personified but…again, idk something was just missing when they started delving into his past. In the beginning, when he was either being a badass superhero no one could touch, or a wise figure delivering true knowledge on black and Harlem culture I loved it but he was forced to go away from that. For as much as I enjoy Daredevil and Jessica when they’re vulnerable, I didn’t really enjoy seeing Luke in a vulnerable place.[/details]
I know all of this is basically insane rambling that will get flagged to death most likely but I just didn’t feel the enjoyment and the true rush of getting from episode to episode as I did the other 3 seasons. Even when they faltered there was enough there to still make me want to rush to the next episode. LC had a lot of good, but nothing that really made me feel hooked.
I’m sure she’s gonna save Iron Fist and Punisher’s asses in some way too, we’re already up to 4 out of 4 seasons of her popping up and getting shit done.
Speaking on that, I thought their whole almost relationship was a bit hamfisted. The girl doesn’t need to thirst after every troubled super-dick with a heart of gold she finds. I hope they don’t try to OTP her into Danny’s life too.
Especially that milf lawyer with the son that got his ass beat by the cop(she was in the first episode too), and Diamondback’s mom in those flashbacks, gaaaaaaawd damn.
