Marvel's Netflix Universe: Return of the Kingpin

Ten was a VIOLENT motherfucker when he was pushed, and that’s half the reason fans ride his dick so much. Tennant is plenty capable of bringing out the rage.

lmfao he tortured and killed so many of his enemies…lol. “kids show”

Cannot wait!!!
And Killgrave used Pyschic to get in those drawers!!!

Its Super Effective!!!

As someone that didn’t know too much about the source material, this was pretty handy.

Rumor: Iron Fist TV series scrapped, but he will star in an original film for Netflix; Punisher series takes his place in the Defenders.

I wouldn’t be surprised.

Rumors are that Marvel doesn’t want to introduce the mystic side to the MCU until the Doctor Strange movie, which is what was causing issues for Iron Fist. Replacing the Iron Fist show with Punisher, then doing an Iron Fist movie later down the road makes sense.

But does that mean we don’t get the Iron Fist/Luke Cage team up until then or will he appear in the Defenders too?

I don’t believe it. The mysticism in Iron Fist doesn’t overlap with Doc Strange. At the rate these Netflix shows are dropping the Iron Fist show should be ready after Strange hit theatres.

Doc strange is already cast and written all that remains of prep is location, edits and shooting

The finished product should be done by summer then 4 to 6 months promotion before it is released fall of 16, between Jessica Jones, power man, and dare devil season 2 that shouldn’t be a hard mark to hit tbh.

Duplicate post.

I’m assuming DD shows up in the last episode?

I don’t think it is the mysticism in of itself. The fact is, the current Marvel Netflix brand is based more on gritty ground level and more important cheap to film stuff, even with the powers that Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage have, they aren’t exactly blowing up the budget that like the standard MCU movie or even certain episodes of Agents of SHIELD. Iron Fist if done faithfully to the best incarnations or some of his more popular story-lines is visually more complex and likely on par with what they did with Ant-Man.

Not to mention, given the power of the international entertainment market, they are probably also considering making him Asian. Because you’d be stupid not to given the potential awards of having him as such. I wouldn’t be surprised if Iron Fist’s particular series was indeed replaced by either Punisher or another season of Jessica Jones, Daredevil or Luke Cage depending on how well they are received. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if they ever nail down the right actor they want for the character if he gets snuck in “Defenders” mini series they owe Netflix.

I believe it. They have casting problems, probably. Danny’s supposed to be a white guy, and they’re torn on that because…sigh for some damn reason, they want to cast an asian as Danny. Hollywood, wtf? When you’re not casting whites in asian roles, you’re doing the opposite. Jeez, can’t find a blonde caucasian kung fu stylist? Too much trouble, I guess. So “Fuck it. Punisher’s a tall, nondescript white guy with dark hair who shoots people. Easy enough. Make it really edgy and the bucks will roll in.”

Just cast a half gain half white guy, or Iko Uwais.

I doubt many people would complain.

Yeah, just get a half white, half asian, and you good. They look enough of both sides to please your racist chinese overlords. lol

Just finished the Alias omnibus. While I enjoyed all of it, I feel like Bendis devalued his own ending of Jessica and Luke getting together with that “What If” style final issue. She goes through all this trauma, especially regarding The Purple Man and while she didn’t have a traditional happy ending, it was a sweet and hopeful one. Then he decides to write this issue explaining what would’ve happened if Jessica decided to join the Avengers after recovering from her time with Killgrave and it was all doves. She’s able to stop Scarlett Witch from going nuts and killing a bunch of Avengers and then marries Captain America.

Puts the true ending in a much dimmer light. It’s not that I have an issue with that ending. I understand that the tone of the book and character itself isn’t one that’s going to allow for happy endings. I just get the feeling that whether intentional or not, Bendis undercut his own great work by adding an unwarranted chapter that crapped all over Luke Cage.

It’s not about the mystic elements being related, they don’t want to introduce the concept until Doc Strange. That movie is meant to set a lot of rules for it in the MCU and is going to go a long way in how they handle it with other projects. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t pull the trigger on a final script for Iron Fist until after Strange is completely done.

That’s like 3 to 6 months from now with the exception of post production.

I said completely done. That includes post-production, which isn’t something to gloss over. The final film viewers watch is all handled in post.

The TV division gets the final scripts of the movies before they write for the shows. That’s how the shows can stay consistent with the movies. Unless there are script rewrites in the middle of filming there’s no need for them to wait for the film to hit post production.

Still missing the point. It’s more about seeing how the stuff comes out on screen. They don’t know how the entire concept is going to come across.

It’s about figuring out visual effects and triggers, etc. What works and what doesn’t. They plan on learning a lot from the Doc Strange film in how to handle the mystic elements going forward.

As for casting, it’s be dumb to have an Asian be Iron Fist. One of the hooks behind the character is that he’s this white dude that does kung-fu. It’s not like Japanese fans are unaware that Danny is white.

No sir it’s you that’s confused.
As soon as Dr strange goes into post production is green light to finish any writing on iron fist and move into casting.
