Iron Man 3? That movie was one a whole new level of bad, like your at your moms funeral and some dude walks in and pisses over the coffin for lols kinda bad. Like you seen something so bad you got no other choice but to randomly murder somebody to vent the rage kinda bad.

If they had ended IM3 with the All Hail The King one shot, it could have been redeemed. They fucked themselves by having IM2 be an Avengers setup (which was actually necessary, and worked somewhat well), then making IM3 add nothing of value to the MCU and giving us a fake Mandarin.

Powers and abilities

Initially, Mandarin was portrayed as being such a superhumanly skilled martial artist that he could destroy Iron Man’s armor with his bare hands.

The Mandarin is one of Marvel Earth’s greatest scientific geniuses, and highly skilled in various sciences. Not only has he made himself into an expert authority on alien Makluan science, but he has also built upon this knowledge by making further discoveries based upon it.

IM3 did enough that MCU isnt to be taken seriously no matter how great some of the films are. Damnit.

IM2 is worse than IM3. At least IM3 tried and left backdoor escape options if it blew up bad (which it did). IM2 was a throwaway movie only meant to be an Avengers advertisement. There was no attempt at trying there.

IM2 gave us War Machine, Widow and drunk Tony. That makes it immediately superior to IM3. I still like it over IM1.

EDIT: Fuck, I forgot Rhodey was even in IM1. That’s how insignificant he was in that film.
