I just saw it.
Awesome film. the first outright good SM film in 13 years.
Pros:
Hollands performance. The youthful exuberance mixed with earnest, hearttfelt acting.
Most of the supporting cast does great, with Keaton and Jacob Batalon, and Tomei being my favs.
I was scared RDJ was going to overtake the film and it would be Marvel Team up instead of a spidey movie, but thankfully it didnt come to pass.
The interpretation of Vulture as a salvager and having a grudge against Stark and the elite as opposed to Gregory Bestman simply stealing his business literally.
While imo my perfect casting would have been Ben Kingsley (had he not been wasted in IM3), Keaton was awesome in the role. I love the updated look too.
Humor. This is the most Iâve laughed in a SM film.
Peter being scientifically adept to a much greater extent than the previous films.
Action, especially the final battle.
Seeing all the weapons/gimmicks of the Stark suit
The lifting rubble moment as a reference to ASM #33
Cons:
I know this is the 3rd iteration in 15 yrs and most know the backstory, but I really wished Uncle Ben had been referenced in the film in some capacity.
A few risque jokes: Spidey is still seen as a relatively kid friendly franchise to many in the general audience, but porn, F/M/K reference irked me.
Lack of spider-sense. if it was there, it must have been super subtle.
Zendayaâs character really felt forced.
It was like make snarky joke, exit, 20 min, later rinse and repeat. The last line she says feels like theyâre trying to have their cake and eat it too.
Overall: 8.5/10
IMO, its a hair under SM2, but above all the other films.
A true resurrection of the character in all manners of speaking.
Since this is also the 30th anniversary of Kravenâs Last Hunt., this is fitting⌠
