Anyone else catch the possible (likely) Miles Morales reference?

I had to read up on that. I wonder if Miles will ever come into play.

That leads to the inevitable question… When does the MCU start running out of steam?

What happens when this universe stops making money hand over fist, as the stars that built it get too old or move on?

According to Tom Holland, the kid that Tony saves in the Stark Expo in Iron Man 2 is Peter

It goes a long way to explain Peter’s hero worship of Stark.

Jesus tap dancing Christ. Sony is staking their fucking movie studio on the Emoji Movie? I’m losing my motherfucking mind right now that THESE fuckers are getting all the movie profits from Homecoming. They should get jack shit. I know Merch is nothing to sneeze at, but Marvel should be getting everything for this film.

he’s saying Peter Parker shouldn’t need it adult supervision. This Peter Parker is a lot more juvenile than the Peter park in the cartoons

It seems they’re going with the ultimate Spiderman format more than the older ones

I like the new technology
What I don’t like is that it all comes from Tony stark instead of Peter park himself

Making horrible life decisions is a hallmark of the character. If anyone needs mentorship it’s definitely a teenage Peter. Even the older ones he always took advice from other heroes. He would always go to the Fantastic Four and Daredevil for guidance.

As for the tech, how do you expect a 15 year old kid from low income to develop his own? The best he can do is salvage what he can find as alluded in Civil War. Even then the web shooters were the best thing he came up with.

The tech is kind of the glue that ties him to Stark and really the MCU as a whole. His non-Stark suit is more realistic as far as what a teen could piece together, and the Stark suit is his offering in exchange for Spidey’s help, and a classic “Stark can’t do anything without jamming a bunch of tech into it” bit of exposition. The sort of middle ground version that all the other movies had, a suit that looks too well tailored and with materials that are too exotic to be made by an amateur, just doesn’t fit in this universe IMO.

If you think about it, there’s really no other hero like Spiderman in the MCU (wears a costume to hide his identity) unless you count the shows which I guess you should. In that case Daredevil is the closest. And even he had a makeshift costume before someone else made one for him

This movie was fucking fire

It has been known for a while she was gonna be MJ. Where were you?

I was wondering why the Diznee Spider-Man cartoons are so lackluster, and then it hit me- They don’t have amazing theme songs.

Think about it… Spidey’s good cartoons have always had catchy theme songs that are instantly recognizable and iconic. His bad shows have unremarkable or terrible themes.
The Diznee shows don’t even HAVE theme songs basically.

Well they are combining Earth 616 and 1610 characters. They can pull from A LOT

Having a catchy tone wouldn’t have stopped the Disney toons from being shit. I haven’t kept up with Ultimate Spider-Man but I don’t think having a theme song would have saved it from being a poorly animated kid friendly Family Guy.

Why the fuck is Po spelling Disney like a retard? Is this the Capcpom thing or something, cuz thats not witty either.

Don’t ask questions you don’t actually want the answers to.

I will spell those companies’ names “correctly” when they start acting like the companies they used to be.

You go girl! snap snap

Don’t go full d3v and DevilJin01… You’re better than that.

I actually respect your opinions.

You just sound silly as fuck, like those guys who think “Ass Creed” is some brilliant dig. Spell the names right, spelling them wrong does nothing but make you look dumb and petty. You’re smarter then this. Despite all your craziness I stil respect your opinion as well, but sometimes you type like a teenage girl. Stop it

Alright I’ll compromise and refer to Walt’s former company as The Mouse.

Capcpom ain’t going anywhere until they either get their shit together, file bankruptcy, or I die, whichever happens first.

Anyway, Homecoming… Did anyone else feel they were going too out of their way to not mention Uncle Ben at all?

Spoiler

The rubble scene felt like a PERFECT opportunity for Ben’s voice to come in… He wouldn’t even need to say the line; just a “Peter, with great power comes…” and then have Spidey lift the rubble would have been great.

I just saw it.

Awesome film. the first outright good SM film in 13 years.

Pros:

Hollands performance. The youthful exuberance mixed with earnest, hearttfelt acting.

Most of the supporting cast does great, with Keaton and Jacob Batalon, and Tomei being my favs.
I was scared RDJ was going to overtake the film and it would be Marvel Team up instead of a spidey movie, but thankfully it didnt come to pass.

The interpretation of Vulture as a salvager and having a grudge against Stark and the elite as opposed to Gregory Bestman simply stealing his business literally.
While imo my perfect casting would have been Ben Kingsley (had he not been wasted in IM3), Keaton was awesome in the role. I love the updated look too.

Humor. This is the most I’ve laughed in a SM film.

Peter being scientifically adept to a much greater extent than the previous films.

Action, especially the final battle.

Seeing all the weapons/gimmicks of the Stark suit

The lifting rubble moment as a reference to ASM #33

Cons:

I know this is the 3rd iteration in 15 yrs and most know the backstory, but I really wished Uncle Ben had been referenced in the film in some capacity.

A few risque jokes: Spidey is still seen as a relatively kid friendly franchise to many in the general audience, but porn, F/M/K reference irked me.

Lack of spider-sense. if it was there, it must have been super subtle.

Zendaya’s character really felt forced.
It was like make snarky joke, exit, 20 min, later rinse and repeat. The last line she says feels like they’re trying to have their cake and eat it too.

Overall: 8.5/10

IMO, its a hair under SM2, but above all the other films.
A true resurrection of the character in all manners of speaking.

Since this is also the 30th anniversary of Kraven’s Last Hunt., this is fitting…
