I thought this X-Men roster shit was leaked and explained way back when the game was first revealed. I had my doubts, but it looks like the leaks were true. Why is everyone so surprised/upset now? We all know Marvel was in the middle of a feud with Fox while this game was conceived…politics killed the roster…let’s get over it and move on.

It’s always been like this and should be like this. X-Men is a huge universe on itself, so more than one title is guaranteed, and so far it’s a good lineup that I’ve seen; Iceman is probably the only title that wouldn’t need to exist IMO; maybe Astonishing as well.
As for Spider-Man, currently we have Amazing, Spectacular Spider-Man that is a more classic take on the regular Spider-Man status quo (for those that are sick of Dan Sloth changing Amazing) and Renew Your Vows that is an alternate reality where Spider-Man is married and has a daughter.
I think it’s a great lineup for those sub-franchises.
As for the Fox conflicts, it’s kind of a guilty pleasure all this ‘Inhumanity’ attempt to replace the X-Men crashed and burned so quickly. Inhumans new comics were mostly a failure (even when I enjoyed a couple story arcs), and now Marvel has made the Inhumans leave the Earth and reduced back to a single regular series, while X-Men bursted again into a myriad of publications.
I don’t know what to think, for Marvel it’s now the complete Avengers age, it looks like they see X-Men and Marvel’s X-centered universe as a past things, they’re even creating a new comic book called “X-Men: Grand Design”, that will kind of be a remake/retrospective of some good 10 years years of mutant history.
I have a little bad news for Nightcrawler fans… as well as Gambit, Rogue and Apocalypse fans.
It would seem they are under perma ban along with Shuma Gorath and all F4 characters including Dr. Doom.
Other X-Men seem to be okay to use. Characters like Wolverine, Psylocke, Magneto, Cyclops are not on the ban list.
Marvel also has something against suggestive costumes based on the list… even if it is the character’s original costume.
That would also explain why Marvel went with some different design that isn’t more revealing for Psylocke in Marvel Contest of Champions.
That would also explain why Felicia is missing from the game. Maybe Marvel told Capcom to not use suggestive female characters. Morrigan I’ll bet is passable because she is not as extremely revealing as Felicia who is basically nude with Fur on some parts.
