Some people are saying The Rock could be considered as Drax but I don’t know about that.

That’s not the first time I’ve heard someone mention him for Drax.

Marvel’s unlimited subscription service is coming to Apple and Android mobile devices. I’ve always held off on MDCU b/c I hate reading comics on a desktop - but $60 a year to read unlimited back issues on my iPad is a way better deal. Only downside is you have to sign-up for the yearly subscription (w/ 30% off) in order to try the beta which runs on HTML5 - not the awesome Comixology app.

I went through some of the titles (entire runs) they have available and I’d definitely get my $60 worth just on the few I’ve wanted to read for a while:
[]Cable & Deadpool
[
]Runaways Vol. 1, 2 & 3
[]Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1
[
]Fantastic Four (Hickman’s run - missing the last 10 issues though :frowning: )
[]Guardians of the Galaxy
[
]Annihilation

War of Kings
Anyone else gonna give it a shot?

I’m not sold on The Rock for Drax. Will have to see how he is in GI Joe. Rock usually plays the charismatic action hero, not the stoically brutal type that a character like Drax demands.

Either would give the movie instant credibility which is probably most important right now - especially since there’s no Adam Warlock or Quasar in the initial art.

Who could play Gamora though? Of the women who can hold down a legit action role, I can’t think of any. Maggie Q isn’t muscular enough. Zoe Saldana is probably a bit too small also. Perhaps Paula Patton? She was pretty awesome in Ghost Protocol. Has the height and overall build too pull it off also.

Yea… I’m gonna go with her.

I remember when I saw the most recent Fast and Furious movie where Rock was in it, he is huge compared to Vin Diesel. I dunno if Vin has the Sylvester Stallone movie magic going on where they try to film him as big or Rock is just that huge. It’s probably both. But the Rock I wouldn’t mind as Drax, though are they using the big strong monster Drax or the more human one like from Annihilation?

Rock’s attached to a future DC movie last I heard, rumored as Lobo so forget about him being in Marvel anything. Unless all of that falls through the cracks.

Disney / Marvel and WB / DC are extremely territorial right now, you have to pick a side.

Jaimie Alexander tried out for Lois Lane. She got turned down only and I mean ONLY because she played / plays Sif in Thor 1 and 2.

Disney / Marvel is extremely butt hurt that Josh Keaton voices Green Lantern now. So they actually redubbed his AEMH episodes with Drake Bell. Drake Bell even has a quote in ASM #700. So does Weisman. No sign of Josh. If there’s ever a MvC4, bet on Drake Bell.

These actors are just trying to get a check but according to the fat men in suits it’s Civil War time. WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?

I think Vin is a horrible actor but hey, slap a lot of make-up on the guy, make him talk only when necessary like they did in Fast Five, surround him with a bunch of better actors also like they did in Fast Five and you’re probably good.

I have Spider-Man 700 at the end of the my pile…so far from what I’m hearing it seems like clone saga’s spirit is coming back.

Alonso on ASM #700. Spoilers naturally.

Finally got my hands on 700, and even though it was spoiled for me–I don’t care what anyone says–that was beautiful.

And I just read Slott’s interview. I cannot wait. So hype. I need Superior #1 now.

I loved 700 more than 15.1.

15.1 sold out quick and people are going crazy on eBay with the covers. Someone paid 150 for all 5 covers and I think most Martin NY Skyline covers were damaged at the top right

I have not read any of these Amazing/Superior Spider-Man comics. However, I feel very comfortable coming in here and proclaiming how stupid the entire idea is.

A new Venom takes on Miles in Ultimate Spider-Man. The artwork is SICK! :wow:

My take on 700

[details=Spoiler]We all know this won’t stick. Because of the nature of mainstream comics in general, it’s simply inevitable. Fans want change, but don’t like it when it happens, so in order to stay afloat, companies stick with what’s been tried and done. So we’re left to enjoy or hate whatever happens as it happens, and rest assured that it’ll be undone somewhere down the line. This isn’t news. It’s history.

That said, I’m glad it was done. I thought the issue was great. I know everyone else and their mother hates it because they’re all big spidey fans, but coming from another big spidey fan who’s followed the dude since the nineties with the cartoons and movies, and gotten into comics through one way or another because of them, this issue was spectacular. It ended on a great note, and it has a lot of stuff left that’s worth looking forward to.

Dan Slott is a mastermind. Mad props to him for not being so caught up in the mold of "stick to the status quo to keep people happy. Since Big Time, Dan’s breathed new life into a timeless character while respecting his roots and his history. He’s proven that these old characters can still be those old characters that we’ve all grown to love over the years while still being able to go places and actually develop. No cheap gimmicks, just good writing. Since before Big Time, he’s proven that he can tell fun stories that are worth reads and re-reads of all different types. Now with 700, he’s proving that he’s willing to go in a different direction and stick with it. The guy hasn’t let me down yet, and with the roll he’s runnin’ on, I doubt he will.

As for whether or not Spidey’s death was heroic, I felt it most certainly was. During the actual fight part, he put everyone else before him. The cops, the bystanders, and of course his friends and family in spite of them all rooting against him. That’s text book super hero. That’s text book Spider-Man. And what’s even greater about the whole thing is he literally convinced his arch nemesis to rethink his whole way of life. To get him to really understand that mantra about “great power, great responsibility” is a feat in and of itself. The sheer fact that Ock is gonna try and follow through with it as Parker’s dying wish is amazing. Whether he succeeds or not will be the question.[/details]

Oh yeah I forgot about this until Josh Keaton mentioned it on Facebook lol! Happy Birthday Stan Lee, he’s 90!

Now why can’t everyone else think like that! So many butthurt nerds crying over this it’s ridiculous, some of which I’ve read on here a few pages back. I for one am interested in Superior now because of 700, and would like to see what else Slott has planned. I kinda wish this was permanent just to see more nerd rage

That’s ingenious.

so that happened at my LCS.

Wow…

I’m just glad that Midtown Comics lets me reserve as many copies as I want with their in store pick up. I think they put a strict limit on some things like the Obama ASM issue.

I did get only one variant of every ASM 700 issue I wanted. If I knew that every cover was featured in the interior of ASM 700 I probably wouldn’t have bothered. Sort of defeats the purpose Marvel.

Wow Peter David suffered a stroke. He’s my all time favorite writer which I tell him every time I see him at New York Comic Con. Wishing him the best.

ASM 700 was really well done as an issue. And quite frankly the outrage over the ending is over-exaggerated.

Status-quo change is good. Otherwise you’re just telling the same stories.

THAT being said. Anyone have any experience with The Runaways? I bought the second volume (tpb) of the 05 run at my LCS during FCBD, and just got around to attempting to read the series. I then tried to buy the first tpb but I accidentally bought the first volume of the 08 run -_-. Also kind of interested in X-Factor. I’ve heard some good things about it, any recommendations?

I read X-Factor here and there. It’s good but since it doesn’t feature a single character I care about like at all (definitely not PAD’s fault, it’s just not a group of Marvel characters that interest me) I rarely mess with it. I try to keep an eye out for whenever PAD uses Spider-Man characters in the title though. Doesn’t happen often but it’s great when it does.
