Iron Man question: I was religiously following Iron Man from Extremis through Civil War, The Initiative, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Most Wanted, Siege and then lastly with Fear Itself. Now, I felt Fear Itself was a huge let down and the story was already going in 6 different directions which in turn I finally said “enough”.
So this morning while in the comic book shop picking up my comics, I see that they’re finally addressing the mole within Stark Resilient. I take a moment to read the introduction page and it talked about all of Tony’s enemies have grouped together and he also gave the US government a “kill switch” to turn his suit off and it’s been used against him several times already and that Rhody died again, but syke, he was just faking it. After reading that I just closed the book and put it back on the shelf. Later, I then saw an ad in Amazing Spider-Man where it had an image of a black armored Iron Man saying who will be the next Iron Man.
So I guess my question is, what the hell is going on in Iron Man? What have I missed after Fear Itself till now? And how the hell can he turn over his armor, I thought it was a part of him? I’m so confused @_@

Sorry about that being so broad. It’s just that I really feel like it’s only been a short amount of time since I put down the book and now there’s this cluster fuck of a story line going on.
Spoilers are really only for comics that came out this week (well in this case, today) so only use a tag if you are discussing something that came out today.

Redbeard - Nah lol during one of Chris Rock’s comedy specials he went on about how Living La Vida Loca was a great song and you just wanted to scream that out loud. So he kept yelling “LIVING LA VIDA LOCA!”
Later on in the scetch he started talking about being married and how great it was to have the house to himself and you could get a ‘good jerk’ on the couch when you’re alone. So he pretended to masturbate and yelled “LIVING LA VIDA LOCA!” :lol:
So yeah we can openly talk about the Battle Scars #6 spoiler that came out last week, about how White 616 Nick Fury has a son named Nick Fury who looks exactly like Samuel Jackson Nick Fury. Just in time for the new movie! :looney:

I am and I’m loving it so far even though they’re only 3 issues in. I picked it up due to my love of AoA back in the 90s and the fact that they brought it back during X-Force.

Well there has been a new weapons contractor in town (when I say town I mean the global military industrial complex), which is Hammer Industries’ new Exoskeleton weapon called Detroit Steel, which is being sold to people who want/need weapons since Stark is out of making weapons entirely (yes I believe this includes SHIELD now).
Hammer Industries is no longer managed by Justin Hammer now, it’s being managed by Justine Hammer (daughter of Justin Hammer), and her daughter Sasha Hammer (the same girl whose dating Ezekial Stane, Obadiah Stane’s son, from “The Five Nightmares”). And they have been actively sabotaging Stark Resilient’s (Stark’s new company name) marketting and the general well being of their business, most specifically Tony’s new repulsor commercial technology. After their attempt’s at bringing down Stark, they decide to contact their main military contractor, General Babbage, who agrees to secretly freeing Ezekial Stane from maximum confinement in The Raft, in order to still be able to buy weapons from Hammer Industries since they are the only company at the edge of technology besides Tony himself.
During this time, I myself was wondering, why does Sasha look so Asian compared to her mom, and why haven’t they revealed who her father is? Just then when Zeke walks out of the Raft, a tall Asian man with long hair, shades, and in a tux shakes Zeke’s hand and Sasha introduces Zeke to him as her father. And when they shake hands, it is relieved that both hands have 5 rings on them. The next panel he elaborates that he goes by many names: “Tem Borjigin, Gene Kahn, Zhang Tong, and The Mandarine, but you may call me Master”, I jizzed my pants out of excitement. Since then, Zeke and Mandarin have been pooling their resources and technological expertise to upgrade ALL of Tony’s old rogue gallery, from the Melter, to Titanium Man. And have been sending in waves of them to simply fuck with him, coupled with the fact that the Living Laser had destroyed the casing for his Arc Reactor which was previously damaged by Grey Gargoyle during the Fear Itself story line.
To make matters worse, during the carnage of fear itself Stark had to sacrifice his sobriety to have a word with Odin to make Asgardian weapons for the Avengers, and Mandarin had placed a mole inside Stark Resilient who exposed him to the public for being drunk while flying the Iron Man armor, this is the same mole that has made it easy for Hammer Industries to sabotage Stark Resilient so easily in the past few months. And now the U.S government has requested that he submit all his biometric records for the past year, and it is true, his right to be Iron Man will be confiscated indefinitely. In order to avoid losing the rights to the Iron Man armor, he has agreed to wear a new chest plate which allows the U.S government to deactivate the iron Man armor whenever they please, in return for allowing to stay as Iron Man. This has led to General Babbage to deactivate Tony’s suit in the heat of battles to put him in danger and give Detroit Steel the chance to look good in front of the public. However this is sort of what Tony wants, and seems to have some sort of plan up his sleeve.
I believe I covered everything up until the last 2 issues more of less. I hope that helps, and this took hella long to write/recount what I have been reading.

…ah screw it. It’s a friggin awesome fun movie, I was going in with mild expectations but was just friggin’ awed by it, I had a BLAST.

You sir are beyond fantastic. I did read up to the sabotaging of Stark Resilient but ended my reading after Fear Itself where he did get drunk and he’s check piece was cracked. I owe you one.
Thanks, Matt’s run with Tony has been very enjoyable and I think when they shit (FINALLY) wraps up I’ll be doing some paperback collecting. I’m more than happy that AVX isn’t side tracking this story line, because I was peeved that Fear Itself distracted the story line.
Has anyone wondered wtf villains are doing during cataclysmic both in the comics and, now in the MCU, with The Avengers? Like they’re out and about causing havoc everyday and breaking out of jail, the moment aliens or something invade they’re nowhere to be found until the Heroes save the day. Has anyone else noticed this shit?
And if they really aren’t doing anything and expect the heroes they’re trying to kill all the time to save the world so that they can conquer it, would it be in their best interests to kill these heroes?
