Marvel 101 (MvC2 ---> Newbies)

I’m having trouble with this basic rom infinite…

infinite - sj.LK, LK, airdash df. LK, LK, land, repeat. I will enter in where i’m ending up on the other side of the character when not wanting to.

sj.LK, LK, airdash df (HERE I end up on the other side of them). LK, LK, land, repeat.

I must be pressing it too fast? I addf beneath them and then end up on the other side of them…<.< I must be doing something really wrong cuz it ain’t workin!!! I go in training a lot to figure this out yet i can’t.

is it comboing? if the numbers arent going up hit by hit then ur not comboing. it could also be your doing it (addf, lk) too slow, or the character your doing it on.

yea so i played this guy, i play mspand he was playing sent, capcom and BH. if i rush him down he jumps HK call capcom then laser RP. if i keep away and try to build meter he calls BH instead. i snapped sent out a few times but getting inside to do it was a pain. how do i approach this team?

Quick question how do you do bounce combos like an air combo into dooms assist or thanos… Do you call them early or during/after the combo

practice in training mode… its depends on characters… thanos is normally pretty easy… call him as you launch em (makes the timing a no brainer) sj. and do a quick combo normally ending in a fierce to knock them down. easymode. pay attention the your normals… sometimes one or both of your sj. fierces with a character will send em at an odd angle. shorten and/or speed up your combo if you are to late…

no easy answer here… just learning the timing for a given char+assist is it.

freebie with IM/thanos capture… call thanos and do fk(launcher), sj. fk immediately (knocks em strait in the bubble.) then just fall down… kick em in the mug with up+hk on the way down and start IM’s infinite.

That’s a pretty annoying team that I run into a lot. Pick a character that has a move that will beat out all sents ranged stuff… a few options here but I love bbhood. She can counter any standing ranged attack sent tries. So a good move would be fake a dash or jump in to get him to call mando… block mando… open up with the super that beats out sent… hitting at least mando (hopefully both)… if you got both… yay choose to DHC or not as you like. If you only got mando… DHC to hopefully kill him or at least come close enough that he wont be called for a long time. You want wtver you DHC to to be safe against sent. Like hail (which also racks up dmg on mando) Once mando is out of the picture sent is stuck trying to keep you off him w/only BH AAA which takes 3 days to come out. Don’t waste time here either… BH is as vulnerable to the same strat… so if you got the meter JUICE HIS ASS while he’s an assist also. By the time sent needs to switch out at least 1 of 2 assist should be deep in the red. Lets assume it was mando hurt bad… bh not to bad. So he switches to BH… he can’t call mando obviously unless he wants to risk his death to a single super… but sent just left and is recovering… BH is now short handed… so the idea is to play it safe til you can limit his options.

Mostly this is general flow stuff… but the best piece of advice is if you get some momentum don’t get careless… but ride it if you can. If you can manage to keep stuffing mando… BH is no help to keep a fast character off sent and you can really run him down. Course good sents will know this as well as you… and switch to fly mode antics… but that’s another thread.

here is a new combo vid showing stuff you can do on this lovely 360

got a matchup question:
what can i do against the juggernaut dash assist (playing scrub)?
when i just stay back with cable he usually hits me, trying to get in is even worse :frowning:
ive tryed to catch him while the assist is active but it seemed to me hes just running through every attack…

Well for one… sent drones should stuff him pretty easy… but beyond that if we go into the semi obvious… its juggs fucking you… so simply do something safe that would trick your opp into calling jubbs… then blast his face off while he’s out. With cable it’s almost a no-brainer… juggs comes out… cable blocks… cable strait away 3xAHVB… juggs dead… pretty cut and dried. Bear in mind that the best time to hit him is not gonna be while he’s doing his dash assist… its gonna be while he’s posing… just after he finishes it.

ahh guess thats my mistake  ill try it later.

I guess this is more of a tech question than a marvel one but im guessing alot of people have experience with this kind of stuff so:

Recently I invested in a DC and MVC2, the DC is a PAL (I think) and the game is a NTSC (I think). The problem is that the game is slow as fuck, you have to boost the speed to Turbo 2 which you shouldnt have to do since the standard i Turbo 1. What is wrong? Is it the game, dreamcast or perhaps the TV I’m playing on? The same problem goes for CVS2 and ST.

Try to get the other version of mvc2. Since you have a DC you can just download and burn em… so make sure you got the right game version. (Normally I wouldn’t advocate piracy) but its not since you own a copy of the game.

maybe you’re high and it just seems slow. trying playing without smoking

I’ve actually tried both an orignal copy of MVC2 and the TDC complimation disc, it’s the same problem. I’m pretty sure I’m not high since I play MVC2 from time to time on arcade and the speed there is regular and alot faster than on my DC. Im thinking it might be some shit with PAL DC meets NTSC discs/files but maybe thats far fetched.

try posting this problem at the tech talk thread. See if other people had this problem.

nice read!

Are you using an HDTV?

Can I get some help with air throws can’t seem to get timing rite

??? MSS vs. Row vs. Combofiend ???

I am trying to learn more about team building, so I would like to get more in depth info on these 3 teams. I hear that even though you are only switching 1 slot, you play them very differently.

Can I get more info such as playing styles, references to gimmicks, “out play you teams (shoto)” how to get a balance of the two in your team (heard of VDO but no clue about what VDO is), pros and cons, etc.?

I just think that everyone spits out the same info about these teams that they cut and pasted from Shoryuken wiki, so can someone help with this in a bigger reply? Thanks all.

iight well my input isnt gonna be the best since im absolutely average in this game but I can help.

basically any good/solid team in marvel revolves around a strat that can win you a match by gaining enough control as possible. also always keep in mind of how a characters assist can work with the team, and matchup info

with those two in mind, you can build solid teams. and it doesnt have to be with top tier characters/assists. even tho it is best to use those teams lol
combofiend is basically the one-touch-kill team lets say you use the classic order: mag/IM/sent

mag works VERY well with sents rocket punch assist. you can launch into anything, snapback, or in some cases start the ROM straight up. you can kill characters in like two to three cr.lk, cr.lk RP 5 feirce combos. mag also works well with iron mans anti air assist, AND mags supers can be DHCd into proton cannon with ease. it sucks sometimes tho because protom cannon is not safe on block so you better have 3 meters to THC into sents HSF.
ok lets say mag gets low on health or dies. Iron man comes in. basically you wanna use smartbombs and his good pokes, and its all about the infinite for him obviously so you wanna hit that shit and take your opponent to the corner and combo into proton cannon. after that you can DHC into sent to corner combo. sents rocket punch can be used to get into the infinite also. check out the iron man tutorial article on here in the IM section and I know there’s a good thread on here explaining the combofiend team dynamics as well.
sent is just solid as fuck overall and can control a match very easily using stomps. both assists work well for him as well.

MSS is a solid team also. i explained how good mag is with rocket punch and storms assist can be super effective with mag ( see MSP). mag tempest DHC into hail storm is godlike. now you got storm tho. she is amazing overall and can be used very well with rocket punch. and plus now you have the storm/sent DHC which will pretty much kill a character. then with sent you have storms typhoon which can set up sents stomp rush-down easily. and you have mags assist which can be used for sents bnb midscreen combo with mag (launch, lp, lk, fastfly lk, hp, mag assist, lp rocket punch.) so yeah MSS is a godlike team overall. I hear that is isnt super effective tho in high level play which im not too sure of. but that team has the sickest comeback potential.

idk about rowtron too much since i dont play that team much. I think basically you got the same as fiend but you got cable, who has a really good AA assist. cable with sents drones assist is an amazing combination, as well as the most annoying.

They aren’t all the same timing due to characters normals causing the opp to bounce higher or lower as you hit them. Throw timing always comes AFTER they recover from the most recent hit so you need to time your normal hits so that right as they recover you are in grab range and hitting grab.

It’s easy once you get it… just don’t try to go to fast or you’ll throw out more normals instead of grabbing.
