Maritimes Thread 2011

Great guys and all, but I won’t be going until they play something I’m interested in.

Why not , you like AE and its listed on the calender on the website. If they don’t play it, might want to update the site jay.

They claim they play it every once in a while, which is why it is there. Also, it’s hard for me to make it out for Tuesdays considering I’m already out on Mondays and now maybe Wednesdays. Yes, it’s just up the street and yes they play Third Strike which I do like, but yeah…

I totally understand this. I’d love to be able to make it to all the community events, but it is hard. One evening per week is about all I can swing, and even that is hard.

Sometimes, you just gotta go home and be a family man.

Here’s that old-ass Valle/Combofiend set for you Andrew. Check that stand jab! Shaking my head as Combo goes in when he has a 60 percent life lead lol.

Nice! I was looking for something productive to do. Just finished messing around with ken combos and resets in training mode. How did i never notice how beast that character is. Super ambiguous j.mk>cl.hk xx EX tatsu 358 dmg 500 stun. That is perverse.

Ken is way better vs. Abel than Ryu is, as you can probably imagine.

Man that stand jab is amazing. I never though to use it to stuff the stand short. It just doesn’t look like there should be a hurtbox that high above his leg. We gotta get together soon so i can put this new tech into practice.

Good gents, I honestly do believe it’s time we have a talk about the frequency in which our tournaments are happening. 1 every month right now is just too much, especially when the large portion of our players are imported. I really think we need to tone it down to something more reasonable like 4 a year, with ample time in between. It’s hard to get time off as an hourly worker for these weekend shenanigans, it’s even harder to get these weekends off when they’re happening so frequently. I know I’m not the only one in this boat, but being a student and working I not only spend X amount on hotel, food, fees and what have you, I also lose money by not working the weekend where the bulk of my hours come from. They’re just too expensive to have them run in such frequency, like the past 2 months we’ve had 2 tournaments, and we have one coming up again mid month.

We can’t keep running them at this frequency, not only is it expensive, but people get burnt out. No offense to Kawagawaga, but this past tournament had the lowest turnout for SFIV in what I’m pretty sure is forever. In short, can we please calm down guys? I love seeing everyone from NB and Springhill and the other areas, don’t get me wrong, but there’s just no need for this frequency.

With classy love, Kylefornia.

I couldn’t help myself. :sunglasses:

Damn it Motorack! You know I don’t speak code.

That, my friend, is math, not code.

There’s these three tournaments clumped together, then nothing until March. They need to be squeezed in before snow makes travel unsafe.

It’s code to me! I still don’t speak math either, so suck it Shrub!

Why do we need three in a three month time span though? To prove who’s improved the most between the month? I understand the Ultimate one, I understand SF needs to be paired with Marvel, or else Marvel wont get that many participants alone. I understand FFI, being pretty much our major now. The Springhill one was just because, there really wasn’t a reason for it. I’m not hating on Kawagawaga here, please don’t get that impression, I’m just saying we need to spread our tournaments out if we expect to keep getting everyone to travel for them. We will get tired of them, our attendance will drop, and then it will be no fun for anyone. And yes, I understand that we don’t have anything until March now, that’s great, it gives us time to recover, but I’d just much rather not see them get clumped up like this again.

We need to spread our major tournaments out. We don’t need to spread ALL tournaments out. We need more tournaments happening, period. That’s how players really get better, putting their skills on the line for something that matters. Cali and NYC have weekly tourneys and it doesn’t burn them out, they just don’t all go to every single one of them… but their majors get everyone out.

If I lived in Halifax would go to every weekly tournament if there were money in it. It’s a lot of ifs, but anyone who knows me knows I’m telling the truth. I want to play when there’s something to lose. Actually, if the drive from where I am were maybe three hours instead of five, I would go to every weekly even if I didn’t live in Halifax.

You guys have twice the players of some scenes and you play all the time. Every one of you would be a savage at this game if there were more money on the line.

Whatever happened to you moving here anyways?

Motorack came as his silver surfer to his galactus…if yknow what I mean

Yeah, I decided that a six month stay in HFX wasn’t really worth it. The lease on the apartment was only for a year, and I was only in on the last six months.
