quick question: an opportunity to get the MK Kournament Kdition slightly below cost just fell into my lap. Anybody know if a) the stick itself is tolerable (for a $60 stick, basically, once you factor out the cost of the game) and b) if anybody local would take 20 bucks (or slightly more) to fix the layout? Because seriously who arranges buttons in a friggin’ italicized cross shape. I’m happy enough with MK (when I’m not sober) to pay for it and I really want another stick, even if it’s just a stopgap.
(also curious if there’s a way to mod in the 2 missing buttons for the triplets. Probably I will find the answer to this when I get home and can google.)
Buy it and sell the stick for $60. You will sell it easily (I’d buy it). You can’t “fix” the layout to non-MK without having a mess. The layout works for MK, and it’s an MK stick.
Played against a Ken in a ranked match last night. Every hit I landed on him was a trade. It wasn’t very fun.

You can get as much practice vs. me as you want, but I can’t make it to any tournaments this year until I get back from evo due to a common condition native to Cape Breton known as broke as fuck. Afterwards, I’m going to gather my shit together and try to make it to every single weekend tournament in the province.

You mean fix the layout like a normal six-button face or just switch buttons around in the given (cross-shape) arrangement? I can do the latter no probs. It sounds like you mean the former, which I don’t know can be done.

You can fix the layout by buying a new face plate and just rearranging them. As for the triple buttons, why?

Yeah I was definitely hoping to be able to get the standard SF layout. Triplets not a huge deal, especially if they’re impossible, but I am still lame enough to get a lot of use out of 'em. Faceplate replacement seems like a pretty reasonable solution to me if it’s actually as easy as it sounds, and I should be able to switch from a bat to a ball-top pretty easily too? Not too worried about the gate or anything like that. Guess I’ll get the order in since it’s money I’ll never even see.

Once I move and get the Street Fighter Room (fuck. yeah.) set up there should be a hell of a lot more going on. And we’ll basically be neighbors, so.
