Huh, Kyle is the second person to be exposed by a player from Ontario…
I used to select Shin Akuma via the input code in SFA2. It was one of the only ways I could beat my neighbor at the time…
Yeah I experienced the devastation of Shrub’s Sim v. Dudley on Monday. It was painful. But there are definitely ways in - focusing, jumping mp or mk (can’t remember, and only outside of range of that friggin’ knee), and I’ve been reading about spacing to s.hk counter-hit his limbs in order to get to his sweet, juggly chocolate center.
But yeah to repeat what everybody else said, if it wasn’t hard for Dudley to get in he would probably be OP. And c.mp can pretty much beat scrub shotos on its own, so no footsie complaints from me.
ps. and duck’s not quite projectile invincible (though I did discover it works for even Juri’s low projectiles) beyond startup, I think EX duck is supposed to be high-invincible on every frame. But hearsay and all that.
pps. also what I meant to be excited about originally was the buffed hitbox on dart shot, but yeah - safer s.hk is something worth getting excited about too.
Sent you a few invites last night. Had an impromptu Halifax room going with 5 people that I ducked out of early to watch the end of the Habs/Sens hockey game.
Oh, and by the way, if you think it’s hard getting in on Dan’s Sim with Dudley, try Vega. He’s got it way, way, way worse.
Vega can fly! How is that hard?
I think the common theme is, fuck Shrub’s Sim. I will comma the shit out of my sentences, Jensine. Proper use or not.
Dan, because anytime Vega flies, Sim gets damage free if he doesn’t get hit… sometimes LOTS of damage. That’s pretty much why I have to fight that match on the ground until I get in.
Oh Jeez. That is all.
Sorry Jay, but I’m going to have to agree with them. Vega can poke and has a few different options, including a few ranges where it is difficult for Sim to anti-air at. Dudley has pretty much nothing going for him, aside from one very specific range where he can beat B.Hk. He’s not hopeless or anything, but Vega can actually poke, has a useable sweep, an amazing kara throw and can punish yoga snipers. Dudley has a scary high low mixup game that is only really effective when he is bumping into his opponent
.
I hadn’t thought about that as I’m not a Dudley player. Maybe if thunderbolt was less useless that matchup would be better for him. Also, you’re just really damn good with Sim. I rarely have problems playing anyone else using Sim whatsoever.
Lol, thunderbolt. If you land it you have your opponent in such a mindfuck.
Have you ever actually hit it in a match? I seem to remember the one time I did, I still felt like I had negative frames on hit, or maybe I’m imagining things.
I thought it caused a knockdown on hit? Either way, the move is shit. on block the move is like, -20 frames. I think I’ve landed it once in game, only when I was shitting around and did it by accident.
I believe you can tech the knockdown and recover before Dudley (even punishing him), but I forget the move exists and don’t feel like testing. It is going to be a mystery forever.
Thunderbolt is badass. Can we at least agree on that?
Thunderbolt is a terrible move with like two uses! EX thunderbolt tracks, and I believe thunderbolt does more chip damage on its own than any other Dud special (possibly HK/EX short swing blow does more, I forget). Also you can FADC after you land, but I can’t even imagine a situation where you would waste two bars just to land a safe thunderbolt. Maybe as a last-ditch attempt to get in on Sim, an opportunity which I’m sure will present itself soon.
Also: I’m probably gonna be on XBL a bunch tonight after the Pixies show - say from midnight on, but probably a little earlier even - Ozone aka Zach’ll be here too (he mostly rocks Seth but I’ve been trying to get him to learn Bison too), so if anybody wants to learn us but good, please do. Dongbongchong on XBL (obviously)
Now I can.
Sorry for being a double posta guys. I know I said I’d show up to Marvel tonight, but I lied, plans changed. This is directed to like the two or three of you that go to those things, haha.
Is the Marvel turnout really that bad?
The numbers arn’t bad, its been on par with Street Fighter, but they don’t post on SRK.
